trusthell | WEEK 1.

WEEK 1
Now that you've had a chance to yell at the Wordsmith, one thing is very clear. He wasn't lying. There's no escape from this place. You can explore all you like, but there aren't any ways to leave. It seems like there isn't much to do but settle in and get to know your fellow Apprentices. You're free to go wherever you'd like for the most part, but come 10PM the doors to the kitchen and the mail room will shut and lock and nothing you can do will get them to open.

While you might be tempted to sleep in, you'll find that the clock in the foyer goes off every morning at 7AM and again in the evenings at 10PM without fail. You'll be able to hear it no matter where you are; it seems it's being broadcast over the PA system. You're welcome to go back to sleep after you hear it, but surely you don't want to spend the whole day in bed?

(Unless you were out exploring all last night. In which case, go back to bed, damn.)

[ Orihime's already made a sandwich for lunch, but not even that can stop her from feeling hungry after smelling that in the air. Something smells really...meaty, kind of spicy--kind of like...curry. (She makes that stuff all the time! She would be able to recognize that smell from a mile away.)

Orihime follows the scent all the way to the kitchen, and wow that is a really big pot of curry. ]

Um, hello! [ Don't mind her just. Sliding on in! ] Is that...curry you're making?

[ He doesn't respond to her hello but he does nod. As long as she doesn't try to steal it, he doesn't really mind the company.]

It is. It's not what I wanted to make, there's less spices and ingredients here than I'm used to.

You should add some strawberry jam and peppermint in there, too! The flavors all kind of mesh together and explode once you taste it for the first time!

[ Trust her it's delicious ]

Wouldn't that clash with the spiciness?

[ I mean he's willing to entertain the notion, and he's certainly interested.]

Not really! If you add enough spices, then you'll still feel it even after adding the other stuff.

[ People here are so receptive to her cooking, it's amazing?! ]

I'll keep that in mind.

Maybe that would work with zombie juice as a base...

Yeah.

It's bitter, but it pairs nicely with sweet things if you're careful about the amount.

So humans don't eat dragon, zombie or sludge?

N-Not really. Sludge would be really poisonous! Maybe if we were in an RPG, we could eat dragon or zombies?

You have to prepare it first, their core is edible. [ He is totally talking about a creature, not literal sludge but it's honestly close enough. It's like having to prep pufferfish or lionfish!]

...an RPG? [ Disgaea is very meta, but not that meta.]

Ah, that's just a video game term, haha! [ ... ] Do you have video games where you're from?

Yeah they do, it's buried in all the ooze.

Some demons play them, but they've never interested me.

Why not? They're a pretty fun way to pass the time, even if I don't play them very much myself.

Maybe you don't have them in the human world. [ He's quickly learning there are a lot of things they don't have.]

I've always been too busy.

I...I guess not? Sludge is usually just a blob of something poisonous, unless they're in video games, then they're usually monsters you kill for EXP. [ More vidya references.... ]

Well, that's understandable! If you're really busy then video games are sort of inconvenient, hehe.

They spit out that type of sludge, but that's their name too.

[ And he's actually familiar with the term EXP because of Geo Effects, but he focuses on the last part of what she says instead.]
