WEEK 2.

WEEK 2 Adelina and Kyrie Ushiromiya are dead. Regardless of how you felt about them and whether or not you mourned their passing, life goes on. It seems the Wordsmith intends to make good on the rules he's left for you all. Saturday is given to regrouping and rest; on Sunday morning the clock chimes as it always has, but at least there are no bodies to find today. It seems you're safe for now. The night before wasn't necessarily a peaceful one, however; you'll probably feel a bit groggy when you wake up, and it seems you've regained something that you didn't realize you'd lost... Either way, it seems there's nothing to do but move on - or, perhaps, move down. Another door in that holding area near the elevator seems to have opened up, leading into a corridor and a stairwell that seems to lead you somewhere beneath the dormitories, and eventually onto a new floor altogether. Go ahead and explore all you like; after all, you did well at completing your lessons this past week. APPRENTICES REMAINING: 28

[Hanyuu hasn't much of a need for this place, but maybe she'll try a letter, sometime- and she comes across Phi, with her bottle of hair dye.]

Did you just pick that up here? Where did it come from?

[She thought the only outside things were from the vending machine?]

Most likely, the Wordsmith sent it for me. I can't think of any other explanations.

[The label kind of indicates that much, at least.]

From him? [That's a surprise.] Why? How did he know to?

Well... I tried asking.

...I'm mostly surprised he agreed.

I did make a case, so it's not that much of a shock...

What did you say to him? ...Aah, if you don't mind my asking, maybe you know how better to speak with him.

I sent a letter asking for it, saying it might be inconvenient for my actual appearance not to match that picture of me hanging in the foyer.

[It was blunt, straight, and to the point.]

Appeal to- ...aah, pragmatism. [She winces a little. Kyrie's title...] I guess if there were any way to communicate with him, that must be it, yes?

I'd call it more of an appeal to rationality, but that is more or less what I was thinking.

[And it worked, so she might try again if this runs out.]

Well... Good job- Phi, was it? [They haven't really spoken.] Perhaps you'll be more fortunate than the rest of us in getting information from him.

Maybe, but given how many of us really want to knock him down several pegs I doubt he'll talk.

[That includes her, even!]

And yeah, that's right. You were... the one with the extremely long name, right? What do you want me to call you?

Aah, that is true... I wouldn't expect him to, given our circumstances.

[Everyone hates the Wordsmith lbr]

And I am Hanyuu. You may just call me that, no one's used that name in many centuries.

Yep. He'll decide when to tell us about himself.

[But he will. She knows this will happen. Not absolutely, but that's her belief.]

Hanyuu, then. Sounds even more Japanese than the long one...

My full name actually isn't Japanese- at least, not traditionally. It may share some similarities with the language, but that's entirely coincidental, I promise you.

That makes sense. Only parts of it looked that way, so...

[She knows enough of it to know that it doesn't have a "je" phoneme. Or equals signs for punctuation, at least outside of anime names.]

It's an easy mistake to make, no one could ever really pronounce it otherwise.

[Which, honestly, can you blame them?]

I'd almost say no one could pronounce it regardless...

It just looks intimidating. A-and sounds intimidating.

In my experience there's no way to make a name sound more intimidating than adding "the Third" to the end of it.
