WEEK 5 Angela Ziegler, Nicholas Wilde, and Judy Hopps were all punished. Zolf J Kimbley was killed and Gold was executed. Five deaths in one week, the most you've seen so far. Will this ever end? Your number is rapidly dropping. Saturday is given to regrouping and rest; on Sunday morning the clock chimes as it always has, but at least there are no bodies to find today. It seems you're safe for now. The night before wasn't necessarily a peaceful one, however; you'll probably feel a bit groggy when you wake up, and it seems you've regained something that you didn't realize you'd lost... Those checking to see whether another door in the stairwells leading downward have been opened will see that once again, you've been rewarded with a new floor; perhaps it's a shame that so many people had to die in order for you to receive it. Or perhaps it's a blessing from a certain point of view, given what almost happened on Thursday night; after all, your number could be much, much lower. APPRENTICES REMAINING: 18

I'm not entirely sure. I received it a few days ago and I'm still trying to make out what is in this photograph.

[Well. This is not an image she expected to see, and now that she has she wishes she didn't.]

...Well. I didn't need that mental image. Suffice it to say that I know what - or rather, who - that is and what they're doing.

What's going on here? It's a rather interesting image, but I haven't the slightest clue what's happening.

[And as a result, she's rather curious about it.]

Let's start with the person wearing that armor. At the time, they'd have been going by K, but I can't say their actual name.

[The box is closed.]

[That's an odd way to phrase it...]

Why can't you say their name?

That armor is designed to be completely concealing. You can't tell whether K is a man or a woman, or even how old they are beyond an extremely vague guess, right?

[firstaid]

Yet you implied that you know what their name is...


[She's definitely furrowing her eyebrows thinking over this one.]

It's been worn by two people.

[And she can't tell by image alone which it is.]

Oh, so because you don't know when this image was taken, you can't tell who it is, correct?

[She studies it more.]

Though why would two people wear it? It looks difficult to get on and off...

The circumstances are... difficult to explain.

I think this is more likely to be of Kyle than Akane though. She's a good actor, but...

You don't think this Akane would do this, I take it?

[Well, it does seem like whoever it is is having a lot of fun.]

She might not even have had the chance, come to think of it.

[That's kind of fuzzy... was the rec room ever opened when she was living? Or just the garden?]

But either way, she's... pretty old. Or at least, she is then.

[Estelle furrows her eyebrows a bit...]

If she's older, then how is she able to move in that suit?

[Not that older people are weak, just she's trying to make sense of this.]

Unless perhaps that's all she's capable of doing and no more.

Not really. She jumped at me with a knife once.

[Is that a thing one should really say this calmly?]

[She thinks you're super cool for saying that so calmly.]

She doesn't sound very friendly... Why did she attack you?

It was part of her plan to send my consciousness back in time forty-five years.

[Considering aerology exists, she's fine saying this...]

Because of her, I was able to return to 2028 in hopes of saving six billion people.

[Well uh....]

How does that work? Were you in a different year? No wait, you said forty-five years right?

Yeah. This photo was taken in 2074.

[So maybe a little more than that.]

The room there had a bunch of puzzles in it that were also part of the plan - I was born with the ability to send my consciousness through time but I had to work to be able to use it reliably.

[firstaid]

Just your consciousness travels through time?

[There's definitely an implied 'how does that work'?]

I suppose time-travel is a fantasy in my world-- [HAH!] --so this is all rather intriguing to me.

We have no idea what the underlying mechanics are, but we know it works better when we're in danger, and that only some people can do it.

We call it SHIFT - Spacetime Human Internal Fluctuating Transfer.

[firstaid]

So, you travel in time when you're in danger? Does that mean in life threatening situations?

[plentyfriendly]

Mostly. Several things I've remembered since I woke up here logically end with that timeline's me... dying.
