WEEK 1 As much as this sounds like a bad joke all around, it looks like one thing is being played completely straight: you're not going anywhere. After the Kingmaker has answered your questions (or, well, perhaps it's more accurate to say he didn't answer them, at least as far as most of those little Q&A sessions went), you'll be left up to your own devices – feel free to continue exploring and getting to know your fellow Survivors for the next several days. Should you want to eat something you're free to use the kitchen before 10PM, but after that the doors will be locked and no amount of fussing with the locks or trying to break them down will get them to budge. And no, the robot cannot punch them in for you. Notably, though, starting bright and early on Monday morning (or maybe just early, since there aren't any windows) you'll be treated to the most unholy damn noise – it's very definitely an electric siren of some sort, probably some kind of klaxon, blaring out over the PA system. It only blasts once, but really, for something that loud, once is enough. This will happen every morning at 7AM and again in the evenings at 10PM. You'll be able to hear it no matter what room you're in. There isn't any punishment for sleeping through it, but you don't want to waste the day in bed, now do you? (Unless you were out exploring all last night. In which case, go back to bed, damn.) SURVIVORS REMAINING: 27

[Caren looks up from a heaping bowl of crab soup. From the looks of it, she made an entire pot all for herself, and she's not having any trouble with it.]

13-across is me. C-A-R-E-N. I can't believe we're actually doing this crossword.

It is? [...Huh, what do you know, it does fit.]

Do you not like it, Caren-san?

[...Granted, it does say "doesn't like scavenger hunts", but that's not the same thing as crossword puzzles, is it?]

More like I can't believe she's doing this. I have a lot more to think about than playing around, and the rest of us should, too.

[devastation]

... I know that we're not in an ideal situation right now, but...

[She looks down at the crossword, frowning a little.]

I don't think there's any harm to it, if it helps us get to know one another a little better? At least until we're able to find a way to resolve this matter...

Do you think so? People just playing... I know everything I'm doing is for the sake of getting out.

[...well in that case, don't mind Megumi as she sits down across from Caren now]

If you have any ideas of how we might be able to do that, then I'd be happy to hear them?

Everything anyone's tried at the doors has failed. There has to be some way he's getting around.

[devastation]

[hrm] I suppose opening them might not be possible right now, but...has anyone tried just observing the elevator and listening to see if it's in use? Maybe he uses it to get around when everyone has gone to sleep.

That's what some of us are thinking. Mr. Detective is thinking he'll try, but I doubt he'll get anywhere. Might as well let him.

[devastation]

"Mr. Detective"? [...Oh, she's probably talking about Mouri-san... but isn't that also the person being hinted on the crossword as a heavy sleeper...]

Maybe we should have more people volunteer for it too? That way the elevator can be watched in shifts and we can reduce the risk of someone missing something or falling asleep...

It's possible. There could be other ways in we haven't found, but the concrete means probably not.

[devastation]

Hm... for now, we'll have to do our best to try to catch him in the act.

[there's a slight pause, before she considers--]

I wonder... maybe we should also have someone observe the kitchen in the evenings and listen for any activity inside after it closes, since Kingmaker-san would need to visit it in order to restock supplies? [Or perhaps grab his own food once everyone's gone to sleep, though it's more likely that he has his own stash of food somewhere.]

[lackinginfaith]

You mean, not go in but still watch as much as we can?

[devastation]

Yes, that's what I mean. Just like with the elevator, there might be a possibility that he would pay that area a visit.

[so who knows, it might be worth checking out?]

We might as well. There's nothing else we can do yet.

[devastation]

[She nods, before she then seems to take interest in that crab soup Caren's been eating.]

Did you cook that yourself, Caren-san?

[lackinginfaith]

I did. They have a few different crab species in my country, so it's common. Do you want some? There's still some in the pot.

[devastation]

Sure, if you don't mind letting us try some.

[Caren's a princess, so her cooking might turn out to be pretty impressive?]

Go right ahead.

[It is definitely better than Elise's was before she learned how to cook. Actually, it's edible, and even pretty good!]

[devastation]

[...Indeed it is!]

This is wonderful--you're quite a talented chef, Caren-san.
