[And when the votes come in, the lights go out, plunging the room into darkness; even the touchpads on the podiums die down, the screens fading to that ambient dark blue that usually accompanies electronics powering down.
The darkness isn't a long one; the lights overhead don't sputter back to life with their vague fluorescent buzz, but rather the center of the circle is illuminated – that dark pit in the center of the circle. Noticeably, Kamui is gone from his podium, no longer standing among the rest of you; he disappeared in silence, with no sort of outcry or mechanical noise to indicate what might have happened to him. He was there before the darkness came, and now that it's gone, so is he.
The center of the pit is stark white now that it's been illuminated, almost uncomfortably so; unlike the rest of the Vault, it's tiled as opposed to concrete, and there's more of that heavy shatterproof glass over it, ensuring that the remaining Survivors can't get down there even if they attempt. Part of the wall slides upwards, disappearing into the space beneath Kamui's podium, and it isn't long before Kamui walks out.
He seems calm enough, though there are clear signs of apprehension – his fists clench slightly at his sides, his eyes dart a little as though trying to see what the trick to this place is. And for a long moment, there isn't anything; Kamui paces a little before his attention is grabbed by a sound that's audible in the pit but not to the rest of the room – though those across from Podium 11 can clearly see what it is.
A portion of the wall has opened up, just like it did for Kamui.
And Zagi steps out.
Kamui takes a step back, muttering something inaudible under his breath; those claws of his are out in an instant. Zagi's dead, he's definitely dead, he consumed his blood himself, why is he-
Dead or not, however, Zagi doesn't seem bothered by Kamui being in front of him; he pulls out a pair of knives from the sheaths strapped to his back – not kitchen knives this time, but massive blades running almost the full length of his arms, and he bounces a little in place before he lunges forward, his features fixed in a sharp grin as he does so.
Kamui holds his ground; when he moves it's unnaturally quickly, his claws plunging deep into Zagi's chest and abdomen, impaling him clean through.
Zagi's expression doesn't change; he's still wearing that strange, unnatural grin. He isn't bleeding. He doesn't seem shocked. And perhaps most importantly, he doesn't seem deterred by the claws at all.]
Goodnight, Dependent.
[The Kingmaker's voice rings out as Zagi brings one of his blades forward, plunging it deeply into Kamui's face, stabbing him through one of those unnatural yellow eyes; he twists the blade upward hard, jerking Kamui's head to the side, and when that second blade comes down against Kamui's neck the decapitation is abrupt and rough.
Kamui's body immediately slumps to the ground, blood splashing crimson all over the white tile, all over Zagi's clothes where he's still impaled on those claws; it's only once the fight is over that Zagi drops to his knees next to Kamui's body. He still isn't bleeding, though, and he doesn't try to pull the claws out; he just...stops, and after a moment he tips his head back, seeming to look at the rest of the people in the circle above.
It's hard to tell whether he's actually seeing anything or not; either way, his features are still trained back into that sharp, manic smile when the pit finally goes dark.]
