[...so, uh, that was a thing that happened. Tarrlok was completely ready to do the politician thing and come up with a speech or something for most of whatever the hell that excuse for a trial was, but everything got all confusing, baffling, and horrifying and completely inexplicably, he can't find the words.

Maybe he just... needs a day. Tomorrow will probably be fine. For now, though, Misa volunteered to make brownies, and he was going to make a Northern Water Tribe comfort food specialty.

...even if they only had shortening and not actual animal fat and it'd been a while since he'd made it, but it tasted... alright? Definitely not as good as the stuff back home, but it was hard to get that good, anyway.

...there's also the matter of setting things up in a location other than the dining hall, because even though that's cleaned up, it still feels pretty tasteless to hold a wake literal feet from the place you found someone's bloody corpse.

So, a little later on in the day, a lovingly personalized note will be slid under everyone's doors:

And if the Survivors choose to head to the library, they'll find a... well, okay, it's a bunch of boxes from the storage room of comparable size stacked up on each other to kind of resemble a table. The dining hall ones don't even seem like they'd fit in the library, so Team Afterparty clearly had to improvise. One side is filled with plates, bowls, and spoons, and the other is filled with brownies, cookies, and a big bowl of berry aqutak. There are also chairs dotted throughout the room in a sort of vague circle --- close enough together that if people want to talk, they can, but far enough apart that it'd be easy to drag it off for some privacy.]

Good, somebody is making coffee. Cherryblod-san is giving everyone tea and I'm not in mood to indulge him on that.

[That was kind of rude, Cherryblod is just being kind. Still, now that the introspectiveness from earlier is gone he is more grouchy than normal]

[For how awkward and goofy Yosuke can be, he's pretty good at picking up cues. There's something about how Bruce said that that makes it seem like this isn't a new thing]

[He mutters, more to himself than to Gabriel, but the point still stands, nevertheless.]

I just wish I could understand what his agenda is. [His being the Kingmaker's.] Why make us do any of this? Does he intend to keep going at this until there's only one of us left?

One hundred percent different! Well, after they turn, anyway. Trolls used to be humans before the Illness took them and then they become disgusting creatures with no thought of their own, just hunter's instinct. It's what I hunt for a living.

Oh yeah. My dad runs a Junes- oh yeah, you might not have that in your world. Erm, it's like a super store? You know, grocery and electronics and clothes. Pretty much an entire mall in one place.

Anyway, he runs one, and mom is our head accountant. Me and Ted work there part time too, so a lot of times we're not even all home at the same time except maybe, twice a week?

...and that's not even getting into the other-world stuff I mentioned at the meeting.

It's not as if he wants to hide things - or at least, something like this? - but he doesn't think its the best time for this. They had all just went through a terrible experience.]

Think nothing of it. We all do what we can, and what I can do right now is make tea.

[Cherryblod's not used to there being other options in the first place - at least not ones that work. That's why he's still able to smile, even if it's not a cheerful smile.]

Sounds like a lot of responsibility for one store. Especially if you have to keep your other things secret, too.

[Bruce is another person Sigrun'd been wondering about since the trial, how he'd talked with him and gave him sympathy despite the fact the vampire hadn't asked for it nor needed it, but she's content with staying quiet a moment longer in her vigil before speaking up, glancing back at him.]

I've never had to accuse anyone of murder before, but a captain's job comes with the understanding that you do what's best for everyone as a whole, no matter what it is. I've made my fair share of decisions on the same line.

[And if it means that one life becomes less important in comparison to another, then that's that. Her eyes return to the fire.]

Would it have made things easier for you if we'd been killing him with our own hands?

[Sounds like Mouri really doesn't want tea. Feeling he may have been a bit too firm, he thinks of an excuse]

Uh, I can get it myself later. Besides you have done a lot today already. I know you may feel guilty about that, but you saved everyone's lives.

[Mouri is not really the best when it's about being tactful or soothing. Still, may as well try]

And then we won't want for ideas either! That's a good plan, Misa.

[But Sigrun has other places to be and people to talk to, now that's she's satisfied with this one, so she points at the origami star as she gives her last idea.]

My second suggestion before I walk off on you is a little decorating for this place. I can show everyone how to make these and we'll tape them to the walls, and anyone else who knows how to do paper crafts like this can show theirs and we'll have this place looking less dreary by the day! Sound good?

That's an understatement. Doesn't help that the entrance to the TV world is IN Junes. Plus I'm pretty much acting as a manager without the extra hours or pay 'cuz I'm the manager's son, but still underage.

[He gives an over dramatic sigh]

Still, it's pretty mundane compared to all this.

I'd be surprised if anyone were used to a bunker where you're told that the world's ended and to murder each other.

It would have been the exact same thing.

[Except, you know, worse, since they'd be actually doing the deed.

Bruce stays silent for a good while longer after that response, not quite sure what else to say. It's not that he doesn't understand where Sigrun comes from, and he can see how it makes sense in her shoes - but for Bruce its more than just for the greater good. So many others have done so many terrible things in the name 'for the greater good', including himself.

He thinks of Nick Fury, of Agent Romanoff, of SHIELD and Loki and everything else, the memories playing in his mind. It hadn't been too long ago, and here he was now, trapped in this place, stuck in this cruel, merciless game.]

[While Sigrun's not shaken -- though Zagi had been someone she'd found herself surprisingly close to and Kamui had quickly become someone she'd grown fond of teasing, one died the way he would've wanted to (if he was anything like her) and the other understood the responsibility he took on by doing it -- she is a little worn in the face, if only because she's been talking to others to draw them a little out of their shells and away from the weight on their shoulders. The exhibition of the not-dead Zagi is still a sore point too actually.

Anyway, coffee is like, gross bitter bean water, but at least it's shit Sigrun's more familiar with, so don't mind of she just takes a cup for herself. Maybe it was yours, Stan. Maybe it was for someone else. It's hers now. Not that she's drunken out of it just yet.]

Did you know you're not supposed to chug tea? With cups that small, you'd think otherwise, right?

It's... very good tea.

[Bruce manages a smile here, this time, just to reassure Cherryblod.]

[Oh, here's a chance! After all Mouri has a new objective and until now he had no idea how to achieve it. This could work]

You could try working with other people! It should be easier if there are others involved too.

Keeping everyone busy and distracted should help to keep tensions low, too.

There is that, but it's not all about how long you've lived. Some of it's about effort to learn.
