Welcome.
You wake with the unshakable feeling that you shouldn't be here. Perhaps you were in the middle of something, perhaps you weren't. Either way, you're waking up in an unfamiliar location with no recollection of how you got here. The room you've woken up in is sparsely-decorated, though that might be difficult to tell at first given how nice the beds are...but eventually you'll notice a few things that are a little...off. Maybe the scent is striking you wrong - it's clean, but it's not yours. Maybe your bed back home doesn't support your back in quite this way. Maybe you should be seeing sunlight through your window by now. Maybe you should have a window in the first place. This isn't right, but leaving the room won't give you any more answers. You might want to grab the silver key sitting on your trunk on the way out. Don't worry though, you aren't all alone here. Once you step outside your room into the hallway, you'll notice that a few others are emerging from their rooms as well. It looks like they're just as confused and concerned as you are. Feel free to talk to them, but none of you know how exactly you wound up here and maybe some useful information can be found by exploring. If you follow the hallway to its end (and it's a very long hallway), you'll eventually arrive in the foyer. You'll find some very interesting information about yourselves on the wall near the clock. Perhaps even more importantly, if you look on the other side of the multi-pendulumed thing, you'll find other framed information that you might want to pay attention to. It could very well be the key to escaping this strange place, after all. Don't worry if you forget the rules, you can find them in every room of the building. Of course, search as you might, you won't find a doorway or a window of any sort. Getting out won't be so easy, it seems. But who knows? Perhaps your fellow captives have something to say about all of this. Welcome to Chronos University. |

Not that Watanuki knows Hanyuu at all, he doesn't know anyone here yet. But he's heard that same question hundred, if not thousands, of times before. And every time he heard it, a chill ran down his spine. Because anyone who is asking him that question usually does not have the best intentions in mind.
He should have ignored it. He should have kept walking. Spirits always tried to trick those who are sensitive to the spirit world, often because they're looking for tasty souls to eat. Ignoring spirits and acting like there was nothing there, that was how Watanuki had survived as long as he had.
But this voice, this one doesn't sound like the ones he had heard before. This one sounds...worried, maybe? Urgent? Like something is wrong. It could be a trick, Watanuki knows that, and yet...
He turns to look at Hanyuu, giving her a warm, comforting smile.]
Yes, I can see you. I don't know if the others can or not, but I definitely can.
[Horns mean she's probably not a dead human, but the possibility of being a lost spirit is still there. He's hoping it's that, and not a trick on Hanyuu's part.]

Oh. Oh, her hand goes right to her chest, over her (beating) heart and she squeezes her eyes shut to keep from crying. After so long...even if it's just one person, what she's been waiting for, all these many years. It's a little too much for her.]
I- a-ah, is that- excuse me--
no subject
Watanuki doesn't know Hanyuu's past, but he's seen this reaction before. Usually from the souls of dead people, actually, but it's not so strange for a spirit to experience the same thing. Watanuki's heart goes out to her, he knows how tough it is to be utterly alone.]
Shh, it's alright.
[He holds out a hand to her. He's not grabbing for her, but he's clearly offering it to her so she can touch it. In his world, spirits are not solid to the living, but Watanuki is able to touch them. It's proof of his abilities, and proof that he is there to help.]
You're not alone anymore.

(She thinks about crying into Riku's chest, his arms around her, so long ago she can barely feel the sensation even in her memories.)
Opening her eyes to wipe at them, and there it is, someone's hand outstretched toward her, waiting for her to take it. She doesn't wait. With one arm still covering her face, she grabs on to Watanuki as if he's a tether, the only one she's had in a very long time.]
no subject
So long as Hanyuu doesn't try to eat his soul or something.
But he'll let her cry for now, not stopping her or anything. Sometimes a good cry is what someone needs. And he'll stay there until she's ready to pick herself back up, too.]
no subject
It's a good thing he's willing to let her cry, because she'll be doing that for...a little while. Just holding tight to that hand and anchoring herself. After some time, though, she'll catch her breath and find it in her to stop, though she might not let go of that hand yet.]
Y-you... Thank you. I-I'm s-sorry for the trouble.
no subject
It's no trouble at all. I know how tough it can be sometimes. Having a friend to lean on during those times can make all the difference.

[If she's going to be here, though, she might as well be honest.]

[Hey look, it's a positive take on suddenly kidnapping people!]
Who knows, maybe everyone else here has powers too, and can see you as well.
no subject
For such a reason...? You're too optimistic, child of man. [Sniffle.] Far too optimistic. I'm sure that whoever else is here wouldn't appreciate that, if it were to be the case.
[She still has no idea how many others there are. If the dorm rooms are any indication, quite a few.]
no subject
You're not the first one to tell me that, honestly. But even if it turns out to not be true, I'd like to think it's a fortunate side-effect of whatever our purpose is here.
no subject
[That...plaque on her door hits a few cords with her. Cynical.]
...What might your name be?
no subject
Me? I'm Watanuki Kimihiro.
[He said that in the traditional way: Last name, then given.]
You can call me whichever you like. What should I call you?
no subject
I am Hanyuu. Furude Hanyuu, though the name belonged to my husband, not me.
[Likewise, she replies traditionally, even though technically neither name was her birth one.]
no subject
So...Hanyuu then?
[She gave him that name first, so he's going to assume that's what she wanted him to call her.]
Well it's nice to meet you, Hanyuu.
no subject
You have no... Well, I suppose it seems like...you may have an idea of how nice it is. I'm not the first you've spoken to like this?
no subject
I've been able to see spirits my whole life. Some have been nice, like you. Some have just wanted someone to talk to, since most people can't see them anymore. Others...well, I'm sure you already know how dangerous it can be.
no subject
[Day-in and day-out, fighting Mixed-bloods, the Pureblood who turned on his own kind...]
I'm surprised, though. I've never...obviously, you're the first like yourself I've ever met, or even heard of. There are people out there who can naturally see spirits? Really?

[Much more painful too. And much more frightening. But the good and bad all come together.]

[He's not going to mention the fact that his entire motivation for working at a wish shop is to eventually get rid of this power. Hanyuu doesn't need to know that fact.]
