WEEK 2 Two people are gone from the group. Zagi and Kamui are dead, twenty-five of you are still alive, and the first week in the Vault comes to a close. Saturday is given to regrouping and sleep; on Sunday morning, those klaxons are as annoying as ever but at the very least there aren't any bodies to be found. It can be assumed, perhaps, that you're safe for now. The night before wasn't necessarily a peaceful one, however; you'll probably feel a bit groggy when you wake up, and it seems you've regained something that you didn't realize you'd lost... However, those weird dreams aren't the only new thing around here; one of the previously closed-off section near the vending machine has opened up, revealing a spiral staircase leading up to the next floor. Go ahead and explore as much as you like; consider it your reward for a job well done. SURVIVORS REMAINING: 25

Breakfast--pancakes, especially, since they're easy to customize. I do have some cupcakes in the oven.

Cupcakes for breakfast? I guess rules don't matter in here, anyway. ...It's still eating at you, isn't it?

The cupcakes were intended for later, but... [ ... ]

I suppose it's obvious, isn't it?

Even if you saved us, it's a responsibility all the same. He's big on doing that kind of thing to us.

I'm used to taking responsibility upon myself, but it's never quite had an impact like this.

He betrayed the group, but he needed to escape, the same as anyone else. I don't know. I don't think I can try to understand it.

Neither do I--but I don't think anyone would fault us for that. It's a difficult concept to wrap my head around.

What does he think the point of this exercise is?

[prismbloom]

We all have titles, don't we? "Kingmaker" may be his. That may reveal his purpose.

So you think that theory that he's a ruler looking for a successor holds water.

[prismbloom]

I think it's the best we have--but do you have theories of your own?

[lackinginfaith]

Nothing I can prove. Everything he says just gets more confusing.

I'd be surprised if we ever received any useful information.

This world must work on strange rules, but that leads us nowhere.

We've unlocked a new floor, haven't we? I haven't gotten the time to investigate.

... Then again, I doubt we'll find anything useful there, either.

Unlocked? You mean you're thinking that staircase that appeared was because of something we did?

[prismbloom]

It's the only explanation I can think of. That it appeared so soon after that trial... it doesn't seem to be a coincidence.

So he's rewarding us?

[prismbloom]

... It certainly seems that way.

[ UGH. ]

Solve a murder, get a floor, until they run out. We may well see.

[prismbloom]

As much as I appreciate what the Kingmaker has given us, I hate that we've gotten it after what's just transpired.

Maybe he wants us to be grateful.

[prismbloom]

... I am grateful. I'm not sure any of us need a nudge to be grateful.

He doesn't understand. I doubt he can.
