WEEK 2.

WEEK 2

Two people are gone from the group. Zagi and Kamui are dead, twenty-five of you are still alive, and the first week in the Vault comes to a close.

Saturday is given to regrouping and sleep; on Sunday morning, those klaxons are as annoying as ever but at the very least there aren't any bodies to be found. It can be assumed, perhaps, that you're safe for now. The night before wasn't necessarily a peaceful one, however; you'll probably feel a bit groggy when you wake up, and it seems you've regained something that you didn't realize you'd lost...

However, those weird dreams aren't the only new thing around here; one of the previously closed-off section near the vending machine has opened up, revealing a spiral staircase leading up to the next floor. Go ahead and explore as much as you like; consider it your reward for a job well done.

SURVIVORS REMAINING: 25

Laundry Room

[personal profile] sleepingkogoro 2016-03-07 12:23 am (UTC)(link)
[Mouri enters and goes straight to examine the equipment to wash clothes. How is he supposed to use one of these? Does he really want to risk ruining his suit with that?

The neon yellow eyesore jumpsuit he has been forced to wear right now is bad enough.

It takes him a moment to turn around to try to ask Megumi for help, he finally notices what she is doing]

Uh, Sakura-san, eh, I don't think...you need to do that so hard.

[...he thinks. He doesn't know about laundry, mkay]
devastation: (yeah it's about that time I guess)

[personal profile] devastation 2016-03-07 07:07 am (UTC)(link)
[Megumi doesn't look up from what she's doing, and for a moment, Mouri could be forgiven for thinking that she ignored him. But then...]

... I know, but... I need to get these stains out somehow...

[But they seem to be pretty stubborn and resistant to coming out...]
sleepingkogoro: (no way im wrong)

[personal profile] sleepingkogoro 2016-03-07 01:04 pm (UTC)(link)
...did something bad happen?

[Because that really is some intense washing]
devastation: (a woman scorned)

[personal profile] devastation 2016-03-08 04:40 am (UTC)(link)
Yes--I mean, no... um...

[She stops what she's doing now, sighing a little as she looks up.]

I... I had a really terrible dream last night, and... I guess thinking about it has made me feel uncomfortable about the state my clothes have been in. [She holds the dress up a little more, frowning at it.] I'd... like for the one thing I have from home right now to be in better condition than the way it is now.

[Does that make sense?]
sleepingkogoro: (Default)

[personal profile] sleepingkogoro 2016-03-08 01:28 pm (UTC)(link)
[Kinda does. Mouri at the very least can understand the feeling of wanting to keep your only personal object from home in good condition]

Had a nightmare, huh? Do you think you would feel better if you talked about it?

[Only if you feel comfortable with that, of course, but if there's one thing Mouri has right now it is time. It is worth asking]

I had a weird dream too, but it wasn't anything horrible. It was...very long and active. I have a strong headache right now from it.
devastation: (a woman scorned)

[personal profile] devastation 2016-03-09 04:13 am (UTC)(link)
Really? [There's a slight pause, as she looks down at her dress, considering for a moment before she looks back to Mouri.]

In that case... perhaps we could talk in the kitchen? I can make you some tea that may help your headache...

[Maybe letting her dress soak a little longer rather than vigorously scrubbing it would help it, too?]
sleepingkogoro: (suave)

[personal profile] sleepingkogoro 2016-03-09 04:38 am (UTC)(link)
Ah, you are too kind, Sakura-san.

[Sure, why not? Some tea can help. What do you mean Mouri is a coffee guy, who said such thing.

What matters is that tea could make it easier to get the reason why Megumi is so distraught about the dress' potential stains. That is good enough reason to endure tea, other than being courteous]
devastation: (not on that setting it won't)

[personal profile] devastation 2016-03-09 06:42 am (UTC)(link)
It's the least I could do...

[Once she's sure that her dress will be fine if left unattended for a moment, let's head on over to the kitchen. It's pretty quiet while she's preparing the tea though, until it's finished and she slides a cup over to him.]

Here, I hope that this tastes alright for you. [The tea is probably of cheap quality, but it shouldn't be too bad here.]
sleepingkogoro: (Default)

[personal profile] sleepingkogoro 2016-03-09 12:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you, Sakura-san.

[It is...fine. Mouri will at least finish it at some point]

So, about that dream of yours, what happened?
devastation: (dear diary my pencil is not working)

[personal profile] devastation 2016-03-10 01:11 am (UTC)(link)
[There's a long pause, Megumi sort of fidgeting for a moment before...]

... I was at the school. One of my students wanted to go up to the roof, where the school's vegetable garden is. Students are not allowed up there on their own unless they're members of the gardening club, or a teacher is there to accompany them, so I went up to the roof with her.

While I was there, I got a phone call from another teacher... and... they told me that something bad was happening, and that I needed to barricade the door. Another student came up to the roof with an injured friend, and told me that they had been attacked. That's when... we all noticed something out in the courtyard...

[And then she just stops there, trailing off into silence. Whatever this thing was that they saw, apparently it's pretty bad.]
sleepingkogoro: (this cant be right)

[personal profile] sleepingkogoro 2016-03-10 03:23 am (UTC)(link)
[It is glaringly obvious describing this dream is very painful for Megumi. Mouri actually feels guilty for asking her to tell such thing, to the point he has to convince himself this is for her own good.

It doesn't fully work]

Wow, that is...that must have been terrifying. Was the other teacher okay? Did they tell you what was attacking?

[Yeah, still not very good with comforting words. Shouty and scolding is what he excels at. Mouri winces after asking that. Part of him is hoping Megumi will stop and not tell anything else]
Edited 2016-03-10 03:24 (UTC)
devastation: (well that sure is a thing happening here)

[personal profile] devastation 2016-03-10 04:41 am (UTC)(link)
[She shakes her head at the question about the other teacher--even now that she's awake, it feels like she can still hear the way the phone call got cut off...]

...They didn't have to tell us. I saw it happening, in the courtyard.

[There's a long pause, before...]

Do you remember... when we saw Zagi-san at the trial? And none of us knew what to think about seeing someone that had been killed... suddenly being there again?

[take a wild guess where this is going]
sleepingkogoro: (what was that)

[personal profile] sleepingkogoro 2016-03-10 04:47 am (UTC)(link)
W-Wait, you don't mean to say...!

[Mouri definitely realizes where this is going]

Was that the same thing? Somebody controlling dead bodies?!

[...well that is close enough]
devastation: (and now for some tragic exposition)

[personal profile] devastation 2016-03-10 05:16 am (UTC)(link)
[...you know what, it's close enough]

The dead... they were attacking the students. The teachers, too.

... And then they tried to get to the roof where we were.

[because of course this dream could only get worse from there]
sleepingkogoro: (what was that)

[personal profile] sleepingkogoro 2016-03-10 01:25 pm (UTC)(link)
That can't be!

[Well that dream was certainly as bad as he expected. It was no surprise she was scared, if it featured the workplace and the people she knew being attacked by zombies]

But you barricaded the door, right? You managed to keep them out and stay away of danger, right?

[He really hopes Megumi didn't dream being killed by zombies]
Edited 2016-03-10 13:26 (UTC)
devastation: (a sea of troubles)

[personal profile] devastation 2016-03-10 09:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Y--yes. We were able to barricade the door, with one of the gardening lockers...

[...The dream didn't end there though, but Megumi then shakes her head rather than continuing further about what else happened.]

... To be honest, I don't even think it's the threat to my own safety that bothers me the most about that dream. It's... it's thinking that there might have been other students in the school that needed help, but being unable to do anything for them...
sleepingkogoro: (furious)

[personal profile] sleepingkogoro 2016-03-10 11:43 pm (UTC)(link)
[Well if there was a barricade Mouri judges she was safe enough. No dreaming about yourself being killed by zombies. Now that would have been horrifying.

And then she mentions how her own safety wasn't what made her most afraid of. Mouri really should have supposed that. A teacher cares about her students a lot, especially somebody of Megumi's demeanor]

I'm sure you would have tried your best either way. I'm not saying you would have jumped into the danger, but maybe there were other ways of helping.

[Mouri sighs]

It's a good thing that was just a dream and nothing else. There's nothing to be afraid of, Sakura-san. It was just a bad dream.
devastation: (a woman scorned)

[personal profile] devastation 2016-03-11 01:22 am (UTC)(link)
I... I know. [She takes in a deep breath, attempting to calm herself here before she looks back up.]

I'm... sorry, if listening to me talk about it has caused you any distress, Mouri-san.

['Cause that sure was a doozy of a dream to describe to someone, that's for sure.]
sleepingkogoro: (rose)

[personal profile] sleepingkogoro 2016-03-11 01:45 am (UTC)(link)
...well it wasn't a delight to listen to, that is for sure. It was a very ugly dream.

[It is not because of you, Megumi! It is the dream itself]

But don't feel sorry for that! I did it gladly. All that matters is that you feel better.
Edited 2016-03-11 01:46 (UTC)
devastation: (not on that setting it won't)

[personal profile] devastation 2016-03-11 04:06 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah... I should thank you for that, too. [And here, she manages a small smile.] Thank you for listening, Mouri-san.

[And Megumi is willing to do the same for you as well: if you ever want to talk, she's here to listen.]
sleepingkogoro: (rose)

[personal profile] sleepingkogoro 2016-03-11 04:33 am (UTC)(link)
[There are certainly chances of taking that offer in the future, that is, supposing both of them are alive at that point. They just need some luck!]

Oh, and thank you for the tea! This helped my headache. I don't think I ever told you what I dreamed, did I?

[Well he sure shifts gears quickly. He has gone from concern for Megumi into bragging mode]
devastation: (and how does that make you feel)

[personal profile] devastation 2016-03-11 04:42 am (UTC)(link)
[...?]

No, I don't believe you did. What was your dream like?
sleepingkogoro: (boast)

[personal profile] sleepingkogoro 2016-03-11 01:24 pm (UTC)(link)
It was a bit weird but not because its content, but because they were several weeks of life. So many cases and people dreamed of in one night...

...it was like something got forcibly crammed in my head. But it was all worth it!

[Mouri grins, satisfied with himself]

Because there was one constant: I dreamed I turned into a country-wide renowned detective! Everyone knew about Kogoro Mouri and his brilliant skills! Bwaaahahahaha!

[Yeah, that is really different from Megumi's dream. The contrast between the grave tone they had both taken less than five minutes ago and Mouri's present boasting was almost jarring]

It is a shame it was only a dream. I'm very well known already but not to the point where I received so many attentions.
