WEEK 2 Two people are gone from the group. Zagi and Kamui are dead, twenty-five of you are still alive, and the first week in the Vault comes to a close. Saturday is given to regrouping and sleep; on Sunday morning, those klaxons are as annoying as ever but at the very least there aren't any bodies to be found. It can be assumed, perhaps, that you're safe for now. The night before wasn't necessarily a peaceful one, however; you'll probably feel a bit groggy when you wake up, and it seems you've regained something that you didn't realize you'd lost... However, those weird dreams aren't the only new thing around here; one of the previously closed-off section near the vending machine has opened up, revealing a spiral staircase leading up to the next floor. Go ahead and explore as much as you like; consider it your reward for a job well done. SURVIVORS REMAINING: 25

[Caren's drinking a bottle of ramune from the machine, though she's doing it slowly and interspersing it with cookies. Kind of like you do with coolers if you don't want to get wasted right away.]

Well, I know not everyone drinks it for the rich flavor, so it's at least good at that.

Some people just can't handle it. So you've patrolled places before?

[bloodisthicker]

Not really, to be honest. I've worked with people who do them frequently, so I've picked things up here and there... but I haven't really done them myself.

I see. That's right, you're more of a politician, right?

[bloodisthicker]

I like to be a little more hands-on than most, but yes, that's definitely accurate. I'd say it's more like ten percent of the job that I even get to be hands on, which is kind of a shame.

Did you go into politics because you wanted to, then?

[bloodisthicker]

Oh, yes, I did. I wish there was a little more action and a little less paperwork, but really, I couldn't be happier that I made it.

Going in to change the world, I assume?

[bloodisthicker]

Haha, that'd be nice, wouldn't it? But no, I'm not quite ambitious enough to try and change the whole world. Mostly, I'm just interested in one city.

Don't most people hope they'll have a big impact?

[bloodisthicker]

Oh, of course... but I'd say there's different things that people specifically want to have an impact on.

Like, I don't have much of a personal investment in science beyond wanting to support the people who do, so I wouldn't exactly want some breakthrough discovery named after me.

Whereas I doubt Colress wants to be known for tax reform.

Right, exactly. ...unless he's actually very passionate about that sort of thing and we've got him all wrong, because you can never tell with some people.

Well, we haven't known each other for very long, so anything could happen, really.

Exactly.

I mean, I'm sure it's unlikely, but it's definitely possible.

We've already proved "sudden vampires who like to play with duct tape."

Yes, that certainly was something that happened.

I'm not sure why, but it happened.
