Welcome.
You last remember feeling safe.
You don't know what caused that response, now that you think about it; you can't remember what you were doing before the warm, comfortable feeling came over you, a sensation somewhere between relief and the light contentment that comes with the knowledge that you're safe enough to sleep and god, are you ready to. It feels like you may have been sleeping for a while before this, even; your limbs are heavy in the memory, and you recall how difficult it was to open your eyes.
Turning your head is likewise difficult, it feels kind of like it's full of sand. Weighted-down by sleep. It's so much easier to remain still, and so you do, and before you haze out again you can vaguely hear a voice.
It's no one you recognize, and it sounds strange and vaguely distorted as you start to drift off again.
"Everything'll be fine."
There isn't an answer that you can hear; the voice speaks once more.
"...you ready?"
You don't remember what you wanted to say to that. Always, maybe. Or Ready for what? Or perhaps What's happened to me?
But none of it matters, because consciousness slips away from you too quickly for you to respond.
---
You wake up some time later; the comfortable, safe feeling from earlier certainly isn't dampened any by the bed you wake up in. Whether you like it soft as a cloud or firm enough to support the most finicky of spines, the bed you're in is nice, and it's pretty much exactly what you've been looking for in a mattress.
Shame the rest of the room is probably going to be a bit jarring when you wake up properly.
The room you're in is completely unfamiliar, all concrete and steel and almost nothing that makes it yours - but there's a trunk near the bed and there's what looks like a smartphone sitting on the trunk, and you might want to grab that before you leave the room. Trying to text or call out won't do anything for the time being, unfortunately, but it's something. A lifeline, maybe.
If you're looking to see if anyone is here with you, maybe you can find someone as you wander through the main corridor; after all, there are a few places to explore here, even if the bulk of the place is pretty much a straight shot down the center. If you're looking to gather, the dining hall is probably the best place for it, as it's large enough to accommodate all of you.
Wherever you choose to go, however, there are a set of rules posted in every room; the far wall of the dining hall, across from the entrances, also has a bulletin board with twenty-seven pictures, along with some...interesting information, posted on it. The board is large enough for all of you to look at it, but you might not want to try to get at anything posted there; just like the rules, there's glass in front of it, and it's looking to be extremely shatterproof.
Sorry about that.
There's one more thing you'll notice on your wanderings through the corridor – there are no windows, and there are no doors that can possibly lead outside.
Looks like you're trapped. Might as well get to know those that are here with you.

He tries to voice an apology... only to get an accidental knee to the gut. Blegh.]
I-it's fine... but make sure you watch it a little, will ya? I'm... pretty sure we're all in a bleeding rush.
no subject
I didn't think there would be so many people here! You guys really are popping up like daisies... or maybe like rats?
[She came from a junkyard, okay, she's really not trying to make fun of his background sh doesn't even know it. Oops.]
no subject
"Rat"... [wheeze] Now that's just a rude remark to make.
[Sure, he doesn't know her either, but wow okay.]
I... can agree with that statement, though. Seeing everyone popping out of those doors, it's the strangest sideshow I've ever seen.
no subject
You have no idea where this is either? Have we all been kidnapped?
[Gasp. How despicable of their kidnappers.]
no subject
If I was kidnapped, then there's not much to suspect. Unless some bloody nobleman decided this would be a fun thing to torture people with.
no subject
But then she puts on her thinking cap and looks almost serious.]
Have you ever run into blue people before?
no subject
Everyone feels particularly down where I come from, that's just the way of things in the bad part of a city. Happens everywhere.
[Not like someone on Ogre street would make a move on him though. He knew good people.]
no subject
That must be tough.
no subject
In a sense, but there's always a way to make a living, specially when you're down on your luck.
[AKA: self-employed.]
Growing up on the worst street in Great Britain will do that.

Lynne may be toting a badge and the air of JUSTICE but she looks sympathetic to his tale. No one deserves to live through bad stuff like that.]
You must have done well for yourself at least. You seem pretty well off.
[He looks so dapper.]
no subject
He's... he's noticed the badge, honestly. Not like any copper has caught speedwagon before, but... hoo boy here we go.]
You think so...? Strewth, I'd be pressured to thank you, ma'am. Unfortunately, you'd be wrong on that count. The Speedwagon family currently has very few pennies to our name.
[He's anime dapper. That's similar but different to regular dapper.]
no subject
Oh! Well, have you ever thought about going into cars? With a name like that you'd make a fortune. People love the promise of speed.
[Close enough to oil.]
no subject
Cars? Like a carriage? [???] Well I supposed if I ever really got the chance, that's something I could take a look into. Always something new in that industry it seems.
[...] Wait, is it just cause of my last name?
no subject
Cars like cars. [helpful] Unless you want to bring carriages back in vogue. That'd be pretty cool. And, yeah! Branding is half the battle!
[And doesn't Speedwagon Foundation just sound super cool??]
no subject
If I'm ever in the mood of changing businesses I'll try to keep that in mind. But I'm still at a bit of a loss.
[He fixes her with a straight look.]
Just what exactly is a car?
no subject
Um. I guess, they're like a cart that moves by themselves? As long as they have fuel that is.
no subject
Ah, like a carriage without horses, or like one of those fancy new steam-powered ones. I think I understand now.
["Fancy" and "new"]
no subject
[Is she just giving up? She's totally just giving up.]
You must be from the country, huh?
[Does Great Britain have Amish people too?]
no subject
Well I'm from a country, I guess you could say. London's the furthest you can get from the countryside though, it's the bleeding capital!
[...He frowns.]
Where are you from, eh?
no subject
The city as well~ I'm surprised you've never seen a car then. They're pretty dang common and all.
no subject
Never did heard of a detective from the countryside. And I've never seen the like of a car before, unless you mean the things I've been talking about!
[....Wait, he's getting it now.]
Hang on, just what year is it to you anyhow?
