ravagers: (desperate struggle)

i'll wait, so show me why you're strong

[ Generally, people need time to cope and gather themselves after a... thing... like that. Unfortunately, that's not how Vanille sees it. Her thing is avoid, and once she gets out of that hellhole that's the courtroom, she makes her way to the supplies closet, then to the library. She spends some time setting up things, pushing things aside to make room. Once she's finished, and she's met up with the Party Brigade, she makes enough invitations for everyone. She slips them under everyone's doors, or hands them out if she sees someone walking around.

Inside the library, there are candles set up to provide some soft, comforting lighting. There are pots of tea, courtesy of Mercy, pancakes made by Viktor, and books (picked out by Estelle, of course) laid out on the surrounding tables. The others have provided their own touches, and Vanille's even managed to make something: sugar cookies, which are actually very good. They're flavored lightly with all sorts of flavors--not all in the same cookie, okay--and each plate is marked with whatever flavor she's put in them.

After a successful trial, it's healthy to indulge, right? Let's mingle. ]

[...He's quiet for a moment before just kind of passing some of the paper and the pen over.]

Draw one for me. Or something close. Just so I can see what it looks like.

[He'll take that and after a moment of thought he gets to work. The primary designs aren't very complicated, but there are other runes and designs added to the casting, which I don't have a picture of, sorry.]

It's not all that complex, but I couldn't cast any of these spells without the proper tome.

[He taps each one in turn, saying the names aloud.]

Flux. Nosferatu. Ruin. Waste. They're all dark magic spells.
alchemicals: (005.)

[personal profile] alchemicals 2017-01-31 05:36 am (UTC)(link)
[...Huh.]

Nosferatu...that's that vampire thing, yeah?

[He doesn't seem too invested in the question; just something to throw out there because he recognized the name.

He'll look them over again before he shifts a little in the chair, turning one of his hands out to show Gangrel his palm.]

This is what transmutation circles look like. Mine are pretty simple, but some others get really complicated.

[personal profile] plegia 2017-01-31 05:39 am (UTC)(link)
Well, it sucks the life out of people to heal the caster, so... yes, actually.

[why are dark mages like this

Kimbley's arrays are fascinating and Gangrel studies them for a moment.]

You don't need a tome? You can cast it with just your hand? That's brilliant... Infinitely more useful than relying on some book that's bound to break!

[...fire emblem]
alchemicals: ...periodically (006.)

[personal profile] alchemicals 2017-01-31 05:44 am (UTC)(link)
...I have no idea what you're doing to your books that straight-out break them, but yeah, we don't need anything but a completed circle. I could draw one on the ground and use it back home, if I needed to.
plegia: (NEUTRAL ♛)

[personal profile] plegia 2017-01-31 05:48 am (UTC)(link)
That's much more convenient than relying on tomes! So what does yours do, specifically? It doesn't look like any of ours.
alchemicals: (015.)

[personal profile] alchemicals 2017-01-31 05:53 am (UTC)(link)
Well...

[He brings his other hand up to show the corresponding circle on that one, letting the sight linger for a second as he speaks.]

They're halves of the same circle; if I didn't have them separated like that, I'd be messing with everything I touch, and you don't want that with my sort of skills.

...I mean, maybe I'd like that, but practically it's just not a good idea, and it'd probably get boring for me eventually.

[He shrugs a little before clapping his hands together.]

That completes them, and that triggers it. Back home, that means that I can touch anything I want and start a chemical reaction inside of it to get the effect I'm after.

It's good for making weaponry, mostly. Bombs are my favorite.
plegia: (SLOUCH ♛)

[personal profile] plegia 2017-01-31 06:02 am (UTC)(link)
[why did this have to involve science, does he look like he understands a single thing about chemical reactions—

oh.]

Bombs, huh? That is an incredibly useful skill to have! Can you really create bombs with anything you touch?
alchemicals: (013.)

[personal profile] alchemicals 2017-01-31 06:03 am (UTC)(link)
Everything.

[If you get his drift.]
plegia: (LAUGH ♛)

[personal profile] plegia 2017-01-31 06:07 am (UTC)(link)
Everything...

[HE DOESN'T EXACTLY DO SPARKLE EYES BUT THIS IS PROBABLY AS CLOSE AS HE GETS

AND THEN HE JUST BURSTS OUT INTO EVIL LAUGHTER, AS YOU DO]

That's incredible! You're incredibly lucky to have a skill like that! Though if it's anything like our magic this isn't something you just started doing overnight, right?
alchemicals: (015.)

[personal profile] alchemicals 2017-01-31 06:23 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, of course not. It's not a gift that I was bestowed with from on high.

It's a specifically-chosen area of study.
plegia: (SPEAK ♛)

[personal profile] plegia 2017-01-31 06:25 am (UTC)(link)
...I'm not sure I'll understand exactly how it works, but can you put it in simple terms?

[He can do magical bullshit but science?? No fuckin' way.]
alchemicals: (005.)

[personal profile] alchemicals 2017-01-31 06:51 am (UTC)(link)
[Hmmm...]

It's pretty much using the circle to send energy wherever we want it. The type of circle it is decides what sort of energy we're using and how it's going to show up, so you use a different circle for different things. You can make them do whatever you want, as long as you understand the circle and what sort of energy you're trying to summon.

Basically, if we're assuming it's magic, it's kind of like specializing in one particular type. You've got your dark magic stuff that you showed me, and other people probably do other stuff, yeah?

So what I do is pretty much like specializing in dark magic overall, but I really like doing the Nosferatu thing so I carved the rune into my body so I can do it anytime I want, because that's how it works back in Amestris.
plegia: (GRIN ♛)

[personal profile] plegia 2017-01-31 06:54 am (UTC)(link)
[This is literally the perfect explanation for him to understand it, thank you.]

That's incredible! If that was possible then I've no doubt that every single Dark Mage and Sorcerer in Plegia would have the runes carved all over their bodies as well! Most of them already have tattoos anyway.

[fuckin' grimleal, man]

It's amazing that you have access to a power like that! I'm guessing it doesn't work here, though. Perhaps once we find our captor we can figure out how to get it working again!

[BLOW UP THE WORDSMITH JUST FUCKIN' DO IT]
alchemicals: (010.)

[personal profile] alchemicals 2017-01-31 07:01 am (UTC)(link)
...Yeah, it hasn't been working. I have no idea how or why, though; it shouldn't be something that I can just lose access to.
plegia: (OH ♛)

[personal profile] plegia 2017-01-31 07:04 am (UTC)(link)
Sounds dreadful. I suppose the only answers we'll get are from the Wordsmith.
alchemicals: (002.)

[personal profile] alchemicals 2017-01-31 07:06 am (UTC)(link)
I guess so.

Not like I've talked to him yet; I don't want to give him the satisfaction.
plegia: (DISGUST ♛)

[personal profile] plegia 2017-01-31 07:08 am (UTC)(link)
Same here. I'm not missing any powers, but I am missing my sword. I'd like to know where it went and I do have some other questions for him, but as you said, I don't want to give him the satisfaction.
alchemicals: (016.)

[personal profile] alchemicals 2017-01-31 07:11 am (UTC)(link)
I don't have a lot of personal things, so I don't think I'm missing anything there. But I'm not about to go begging him for something like answers, either.
plegia: (DISDAIN ♛ "blood orange")

[personal profile] plegia 2017-01-31 07:12 am (UTC)(link)
Precisely. I'm sure he's enjoying having power over us and there's no need to feed into that.
