[This week, Varric opted to take a page from Vanille’s book. Gathering everyone together after the roller-coaster that the first trial had been proved to be somewhat cathartic for himself. He hoped that it would prove to do the same for the others.]

[He wasn’t alone, of course, having found himself blessed with the most ragtag team of chefs and party-planners. He might have had words for and thoughts on Elda and Kimbley, Mikazuki was welcome company, and he wasn’t about to turn away potential allies, even in a fight as simple as cooking dinner.]

[Once everyone’s set to a task, baking a cake, brewing tea, or stirring stew (the only task Varric could think to assign Elda to), Varric excused himself to his room. His first task was writing up cards, each personally titled and signed by Varric.]

Food in the Library. 5 p.m. Don’t spend the night alone.

[Each note was slid under a door and accompanied by a single rap on the wood.]

[With his tasks completed, Varric returned to the kitchen to put out any potential fires and, with luck, set the food out. A table in the library would be adorned with plenty of tea, cake, pancakes courtesy of Viktor, and stew thanks mostly to Varric (sorry, Elda).]

I'm not sure. The first time there was a party thrown, so I guess it's like some kind of funeral party? And now they're being thrown whenever someone has passed.

I guess they help a little so people aren't alone after something terrible happened.

[Gathering everyone together after losing one of the group in an attempt to prevent it from happening again. It's a sound strategy, even if it won't work on everyone. He's not a Tactician, but he can certainly see the merit in something like that.

The question gets him to glance away for a moment before he folds his arms and sighs.]

...Black tea, right? That's the one she mentioned.

[ Funeral parties are certainly useful.

Mikazuki then just gives a sheepish smile, because, WELL... ]

Was I supposed to make black tea? I ended up making a lot of green tea out of habit.

[ He gives a pause as he begins to look through the cabinets himself now. ]

I could make you some black tea too, though. Just let me start over...

[That gets him to laugh, though it's short and not as evil as it could be.]

Yeah, black tea's the one she mentioned. I'm sure most people prefer green tea, though.

I know I do too. It tastes better.

[ Oops a few of the teabags fall out onto the counter. Or maybe he can just gather them to make black tea so it works out anyway! ]

By the way, are you holding up okay? You appear to look alright, but I believe asking can't hurt.

I'm fine. I didn't care about her or about Christo. People are going to keep dying in here; that's just the way things are. Getting attached is stupid.

[ He begins to set some tea going. He's going to come back with both black tea and green tea when he's done. This is probably a serious (??) discussion but out of habit there's a smile still on his face. ]

Hmm, well...I suppose you're right, though. People will keep dying-- but people will also naturally keep on getting attached to each other even if it winds up being unfortunate.

Tch. I've gone years without getting attached to anyone. Which I guess doesn't mean much since there are a good amount of you who are ridiculously old.

Things would certainly be easier if everyone could just put their attachments aside, but given that we're all trapped in here with nothing but time... It's understandable that people would get attached, I guess.

Well! It's not entirely a bad thing, at least. It can be fun making friends--sometimes even people you'd never guess would can be quite friendly and fun to talk to.
