[This week, Varric opted to take a page from Vanille’s book. Gathering everyone together after the roller-coaster that the first trial had been proved to be somewhat cathartic for himself. He hoped that it would prove to do the same for the others.]

[He wasn’t alone, of course, having found himself blessed with the most ragtag team of chefs and party-planners. He might have had words for and thoughts on Elda and Kimbley, Mikazuki was welcome company, and he wasn’t about to turn away potential allies, even in a fight as simple as cooking dinner.]

[Once everyone’s set to a task, baking a cake, brewing tea, or stirring stew (the only task Varric could think to assign Elda to), Varric excused himself to his room. His first task was writing up cards, each personally titled and signed by Varric.]

Food in the Library. 5 p.m. Don’t spend the night alone.

[Each note was slid under a door and accompanied by a single rap on the wood.]

[With his tasks completed, Varric returned to the kitchen to put out any potential fires and, with luck, set the food out. A table in the library would be adorned with plenty of tea, cake, pancakes courtesy of Viktor, and stew thanks mostly to Varric (sorry, Elda).]

Alright. What was it?

[ There was... so much in the trial, Mikazuki couldn't hear everything. ]

His horns, you saw that they weren't real. Elda said he told her that he wasn't a demon either, but he's not human.

There's three realms that exist, in my universe.

What are your realms? I think I've only heard about the Netherworlds?

[ He'll tilt his head, listening well. ]

The Netherworlds where demons live, the Human Realm for humans, and Celestia for angels.

So... he was an angel?

[ The look on his face is a bit of surprise, because well...there was definitely no indication of that. He thought angels had wings. ]

Oh my, I never would've guessed. He didn't have the wings, I see.

If you believe what Elda said. [ He's not really sure if he does.]

They do, but they don't always have them visible. It's said they go to the human world a lot in disguise.

Hmm, maybe.

[ Mikazuki is giving Elda the benefit of the doubt. The horns did pop off, and he doubts a human could live that long unless extenuating circumstances. ]

... Well, does knowing this change things for you?

Angels and demons aren't supposed to get along. [ Angels were very judgemental, high and mighty, always looking down from above (literally). On the other hand, demons couldn't be bothered with any of their morality nonsense, or their devotion for their "God". They existed separately but not together except in the most dire of situations.

...come to think of, it was likely that Celestia had noticed Void's rampage.]

I guess it looks like there was an exception to that, then?

[ It makes sense for angels and demons to not get along at any rate to Mikazuki. It was the whole light versus dark thing, and it was fairly obvious as to why they wouldn't besides that, even without him knowing the details. ]

Maybe. It's not like it matters now...

... No, I suppose not.

[ ... ]

Varric gave a few words about Christo, if you would like to hear what he said in his honor.

[...]

What did he say?

[ Mikazuki clears his throat, and with a bit of familiarity, recites the very same words Varric had, so that Killia may hear it. His voice was only a touch louder than it was usually, but other than that the delivery went just fine. ]

...And so, that was all.

[ There's not a verbal reaction but a physical one, and for a second it looks like Killia might punch the nearest wall like he did earlier this week.

...

But that wouldn't accomplish anything, other than injuring his hand again. It's not that Varric's words aren't adequate, but that it just reminds him of someone else. Someone else who enjoyed his curry who never should have died either.]

He didn't need to do something like that.

[ Later when it's not so raw, he'd likely appreciate it more.]

Maybe, maybe not.

[ Mikazuki looks off to the side, turning those words in his head once again, and finding them to be ones he likes himself. Maybe if the other had some time, he thinks, he'll eventually like them too. ]

I should have protected him, like I did on the battlefield.

[ Well it was more like Killia and Red Magnus kept the enemy occupied than actually protecting the backline, but still.]

[ Mikazuki will tentatively reach out to him -- although his hand will hover a bit. Usually he'd just go ahead, but this was a rather delicate situation, and so he'll ask: ]

... May I, Killia?

Huh?

[ It's not a no, and he doesn't draw back any which is affirmation enough as far as Killia is.]

Alright.

[ Good, because then he'll step in close, just so that he draw Killia into an embrace, if this is what the other man allows to happen, since this may have been has intention to do so in the first place. ]

[ Killia's surprisingly not a stranger to physical affection, it would be hard to be when Seraphina often tried to cling onto him in the battlefield. While normally he'd have more of his guard up and be more aloof, he's too exhausted to really try to make an attempt at pushing Mika away. So he doesn't resist the embrace, and he may even try to hug him back a bit even if it is a feeble attempt.

He's certainly not saying anything though, he's just tired-- tired of failing. This past week he's been in a constant flux between anger and regret.]

[ Mikazuki would certainly allow it too, easily holding the man carefully and gently in his arms. If it weren't for Killia's wings, he'd have probably try to rub at his back a little too, because he is just like that. He wonders a little bit, if he's being selfish, since he has wanted to have this chance way before even now, but, it looks like it's helping Killia as well, so...and for once Mikazuki doesn't have much to say.

But that's probably okay, because sometimes these types of situations pop up rather often. ]

Mikazuki... thanks. [ Getting close to others was something he hated, but not for the typical reasons. Killia actually greatly appreciated the comfort of others, ever since he had learned what it felt like years ago. But that didn't change his thought that it was better for them if they didn't.

He holds the embrace for a few more moments before pulling back, even managing to give a somewhat proper hug in the last seconds.]

[ His voice is soft and gentle as he speaks, a soft smile gracing his features again to the other man, when he finally lets go, kind of indicating to Mikazuki that it was time for him to let go (which he certainly did). ]

I'll be glad to do that any time you need as well.

I...yeah. [ What does he say to that? He doesn't know what to say because he doesn't know how he feels, two viewpoints warring in his head. But it did make him feel better at least in the moment, evident by the way his wings have lift to them again.]

You don't need to stay here with me, I'll be fine.
