And it's the stars, the stars that lie to you.
[This week, Varric opted to take a page from Vanille’s book. Gathering everyone together after the roller-coaster that the first trial had been proved to be somewhat cathartic for himself. He hoped that it would prove to do the same for the others.]
[He wasn’t alone, of course, having found himself blessed with the most ragtag team of chefs and party-planners. He might have had words for and thoughts on Elda and Kimbley, Mikazuki was welcome company, and he wasn’t about to turn away potential allies, even in a fight as simple as cooking dinner.]
[Once everyone’s set to a task, baking a cake, brewing tea, or stirring stew (the only task Varric could think to assign Elda to), Varric excused himself to his room. His first task was writing up cards, each personally titled and signed by Varric.]
Food in the Library. 5 p.m. Don’t spend the night alone.
[Each note was slid under a door and accompanied by a single rap on the wood.]
[With his tasks completed, Varric returned to the kitchen to put out any potential fires and, with luck, set the food out. A table in the library would be adorned with plenty of tea, cake, pancakes courtesy of Viktor, and stew thanks mostly to Varric (sorry, Elda).]

And...then swallows down a lump in her throat.]
I... Oh, Gold, you... ...your words mean a lot. [She can't quite accept them, but...] But if...if I can't save someone, what...kind of god am I...?
[It sounds like something she's been at least mulling over for a little.]

You're one that's got a physical form and, if I'm thinkin' right, no powers. You're as human as me.
[... Which isn't something he should say, maybe, but he'll squeeze her hands.]
And... remember what I said? You ain't gotta take this kinda stuff by yourself. Don't gotta be me, doesn't matter if you're a god or a demon or as plain as can be, it's gonna weigh too much on you alone.

"You're as human as me."
Hanyuu thought she couldn't cry anymore. She thought she'd cried herself out, but-]

My child. You are the only one to speak of me in that way."
Hanyuu suddenly throws her arms around Gold, in a tight and abrupt hug.
"They may all speak ill of me, calling me Oyashiro-sama. But you alone speak of me as a human."
Her whole body trembles.]

If she dislikes loneliness... Well. He doesn't really like it either, and he's never been someone that took well to leaving others alone anyway.]
If you need to, just let it out. I'll hide your tears from mortal eyes.
[It's light and joking, but from how his grip gets firmer, how he ducks his head a little more to rest on hers? He's serious.]

She nods sharply and cries into his (expensive) jacket. She'll have to offer to wash it for him, later.]
M-mm...! J-just a- m-moment-!
["That is why I want you to destroy me."
She wishes...she could've been a better mother.]
no subject
Take your time, Hanyuu. Gold's not going anywhere.]

Eventually, though. Eventually, she calms, burrowed into his neck. It really helps to be shorter than most people, doesn't it? Her grip loosens, just a little, but she remains hugging him.]
Th- thank you. No one's...no one's known what I am, but- considered me human in- ...in such a long time. [Considered her a person.]

And that's wrong of them, because I mean... in the same way that legendary Pokémon are awesome, powerful beings, they're still just Pokémon, you know? Like I was talkin' to you about.
[They all deserve a friend, someone they can be themselves with. Not lonely.]
I'll bet that there's a lot of people here that'd agree with me too, just you wait and see. I'm not a man who puts money on losses either.

A lot... [She gently lets him go and steps back, wiping her eyes with her sleeve.] You... I wish everyone thought more like that.

[It's one wish he can make come true, and he's always been one that relied on himself and his pals over any kinda large being anyway.]
Have you eaten? Do you wanna grab a bite with me? I don't mind stickin' with you a little more tonight, could always use the company of a beautiful lady.
[Though it's more for her sake than his, obviously.]
no subject
[And he called her beautiful... She knows it's flattery, but she can't help but get wrapped up in it.]
I would never turn away...the invitation of a charming young lad.
no subject
I'll let you go after this, promise, unless you're finished for tonight. Got any plans?

Maybe I'll join you later then. I ain't too religious at all, but you honor the dead no matter where you're from.
no subject
...heh. You're telling a god you aren't very religious. [It's funny, honestly.]
