And it's the stars, the stars that lie to you.
[This week, Varric opted to take a page from Vanille’s book. Gathering everyone together after the roller-coaster that the first trial had been proved to be somewhat cathartic for himself. He hoped that it would prove to do the same for the others.]
[He wasn’t alone, of course, having found himself blessed with the most ragtag team of chefs and party-planners. He might have had words for and thoughts on Elda and Kimbley, Mikazuki was welcome company, and he wasn’t about to turn away potential allies, even in a fight as simple as cooking dinner.]
[Once everyone’s set to a task, baking a cake, brewing tea, or stirring stew (the only task Varric could think to assign Elda to), Varric excused himself to his room. His first task was writing up cards, each personally titled and signed by Varric.]
Food in the Library. 5 p.m. Don’t spend the night alone.
[Each note was slid under a door and accompanied by a single rap on the wood.]
[With his tasks completed, Varric returned to the kitchen to put out any potential fires and, with luck, set the food out. A table in the library would be adorned with plenty of tea, cake, pancakes courtesy of Viktor, and stew thanks mostly to Varric (sorry, Elda).]

[He likes her, Kimbley certainly likes her, of all people, and-]
We're stupid, simple creatures, and there's only so much we can do to defend you if you act like you're above it all, so how about coming down to our human trash level once in a while and letting us in?
no subject
How many vampires died because of that, when they took human lovers and created dead ends for their families?! Or when those failures brought the church down on all of us?! Vampires are better! Humans are the demons, not us!
[ She is projecting so hard right now. ]

You're a person. I'm a person. Jasper's a person, and so's Judy and Nick.
Name one person who's treated you poorly in here because you're a vampire. I'll beat them up.

[ And Elda... Elda's trapped in the past (she always has been) and she makes to rip her wrist free, only to find her strength failing her there. Snarling, she turns the free hand at her side into a fist, intending to uppercut into his stomach. ]
There's a thousand little ways! Do you really think that people can coexist like that?! You naive child, what do you know?!

I know- [He shakes his head briefly before trying again-] I know people are cruel, and when they aren't cruel, they still try to look the other way. I know I spent almost a decade thinking I had no one in the world but my sister, and then my boy over there came along and proved me wrong.
I know more people will die, and I know their killers might be people I like. I know I might be someone's ticket out of here someday, even if I'm not planning on dying anytime soon.
I'm not ready to give up on people, either. I'm not going back to that lonely existence.

And in all honesty...
( alone )
It reminds her so much of James that it hurts, her heart hurts, and she wails, not even bothering to form a verbal response as, furious and hurt and actually crying a little at the margins, Elda throws another punch. And if that on connects another. And just generally is now planning to beat the shit out of him right here and now in a blind, terrified, pained mass of...
Something. ]

Miss Elda, stop!
[ ... And holy shit what do we have here because he'll try to be pulling her off of Silver now. Wow, it's a good thing he was in the library because he would definitely be trying to stop this. ]
no subject
[ Elda is actually pulled back though. She's distraught, confused, and flailing, but she does still have incredibly strength - way more than a petite woman of her frame should. Thus, that elbow you're getting in the gut as she's pulled away? Not fun!
... But she is able to be grappled, in part due to the size difference ]
no subject
That was uncalled for.
[ Mikazuki looks extremely perturbed, but you better believe there is some heavy disapproval going on for his part. ]
I don't know why you were beating on him like that, but you shouldn't do that again.
no subject
That brat deserves it! What do you care?!
no subject
He's kind of weary in that his expression is pretty calm, although not in his usual way. It's been a long day, but surprisingly he still manages to have patience for this. ]
If you continued on doing what you were doing, you could have killed him. He was defenseless against your attacks.
I think it should be obvious by now why I care. We're trying to recuperate from what's just happened, and I'm not about to allow what you are doing to disturb that.
no subject
Actually, really logical. It's definitely a fair assumption to make and a solid conclusion. Elda's eyes are still hateful, boiling with pain and malice, but she doesn't shove him again. Instead, she crosses his arms and backs up a step. She growls a little...
She would have killed him. ]
...Fine.
no subject
Thank you for listening, Miss Elda.

[ That meaning might be unclear. ]

[ Whatever the meaning is, Mikazuki seems to take it as that. ]

... Murder is a close second.
Anyway, Gold's more focused on getting to Silver, scowling as he grabs him and... shakes him a little, I'm so sorry.]
The hell have I said, dude? She's crazy violent, don't be rilin' her up!
[Or... Whatever it was you're doing, um. Having a yelling heart to heart? Yeah, that.]
no subject
[But he doesn't complain about being pulled away. That shit hurts, man.]
If she's crazy violent, so are we.
no subject
And... probably to the infirmary if he judges the injuries needing an ice pack taped on.]
I ain't gonna deny that bit, but that doesn't mean you can just do whatever the hell you were doin' to upset her. Even if she's crazy and violent, she's still a girl.
[...]
And she'll definitely kill you, no second thoughts, and you know what'll happen after that.
no subject
I got mad.
[That's, uh. That's not really an apology, but he's backing down, at least.]
no subject
Pretty sure everyone could figure that out. What's up?
no subject
[That doesn't answer anything, but here he is anyway.]
no subject
Well, I've got great news for you, buddy! You're not! Can't name a time you've ever been half as ill-tempered as she is!
no subject
[...Look, at least he's self aware.]
That's not what I meant.

[She's not even sure what she's about to say, but by the look on her face, whatever and, grief... whatever mix of emotions it is that Elda's feeling is having an effect on her.
She's apparently okay with Mikazuki grabbing Elda, because there's no comment there, just a concerned look in her direction.
There are so many things she wants to say, but in the end she just looks like she's at a loss.]

Can it!
