LET'S MAKE THE ACADEMY'S WALLS OUR CANVAS.

[At the appointed time, when those interested walk into the art studio, they'll see that holy shit, Guzma got a lot of paints out of the storage room and put them all over the tables. There's a lot of stuff there, ready for everyone to grab and spread out all over the academy and paint all over everything.]

What does that mean, anyway?

...It's Gold's nicknaming theme. He shortens his Pokémon's names, then adds -bo. Aibo, Polibo, Togebo... Silbo.

[Well now he looks sad.]

I didn't know he cared that much.

[feistytrader]

...He's not good at communicating his feelings. Never has been.

[Was. He wasn't good at communicating his feelings.]

[He's thinking back to that conversation they had, about the writing on the wall.]

Gold seemed nervous about it, so I stepped in.

I don't get why he would be nervous. We're friends, aren't we?

[His use of the present tense here is because death is not a limiting factor in friendships, as far as he is concerned.]

You're a guy. Gold gets weird about liking guys.

[He is perfectly content to keep talking about Gold in the present tense, really.]

Why? I mean, I get it, guys don't normally like guys. But just thinking one is attractive doesn't really mean much of anything.

[That's pretty much what he's been telling himself for the last week. 'It's not gay if you're not dating' or some shit like that.]

...Is it really that unusual?

[Actual forest child has no concept of this shit, man.]

Well, yeah. I mean, it's not rare or anything, but usually boys like girls and girls like boys and that's it. Sometimes there's boys who like boys, and girls who like girls, and sometimes there's boys and girls who like both. And then there's people who don't like anyone. But usually if you meet someone, they're going to like the opposite of whatever they are.

Like take me for example. I like girls. Every person I've ever liked in that 'LIKE-like' way has been a girl. ...though I guess I wouldn't mind if I ended up liking a guy? I mean, I don't really go out looking for guys like that, but if one came along-

[He's just confusing himself himself at this point, so he shakes his head quickly.]

ANYWAY, the point is that it doesn't usually happen.

So Gold feels weird about liking guys because it's unusual. And because he likes girls more. ...And he's bad at feelings.

[That makes sense.]

Pretty much, yeah.

[Doot doot he's finishing up that design now.]

I mean, I can understand being all weird about it, but he didn't have to lie. It's not like I would have hated him for it or anything. And maybe I would have been a little more honest with him back then too.

[feistytrader]

...That's just the way he is. It doesn't matter. He liked Vanille anyway.

Yeah, I suppose that's true. ...I do feel bad for him though, falling for a girl who already loves someone else.

[It's not like Watanuki understands that at all, nope.]

[feistytrader]

[...Well, not he can't fall for anyone anymore.

Silver quietly resumes drawing stuff on the wall.]

So, you said you like Orihime, right?

[foundfate]

...yeah, I do. A lot.

[He's stopped spraying for now, and is instead looking at the can in his hand.]

But it's better for her, if she got to go home and be with the person she likes there. She told me about that guy, you know? He's a hero. I...I don't have anything to offer her.

[feistytrader]

...Being a hero isn't that special. Gold and I are supposed to be heroes, and look at us.

[It's lighthearted. He can't really speak about this guy in any serious capacity, nor can he really argue that it's better to avoid relationships with someone that you might never see again.]

Have you told her how you feel? Do you know how she feels about you?

[foundfate]

[He shakes his head.]

She doesn't need to know, it would just cause her unnecessary problems.

[feistytrader]

Maybe. Or maybe she feels similarly to you. Either way, if something happens to her and you don't say anything, you're probably going to regret it.

I think it would be worse, if I did say something and something happened to her.
