bloodisthicker: because that would be the worst (did i break a nail)

WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT? OUR TALES RIVAL JUST TURNED INTO A ZOMBIE!

[...so, uh, that was a thing that happened. Tarrlok was completely ready to do the politician thing and come up with a speech or something for most of whatever the hell that excuse for a trial was, but everything got all confusing, baffling, and horrifying and completely inexplicably, he can't find the words.

Maybe he just... needs a day. Tomorrow will probably be fine. For now, though, Misa volunteered to make brownies, and he was going to make a Northern Water Tribe comfort food specialty.

...even if they only had shortening and not actual animal fat and it'd been a while since he'd made it, but it tasted... alright? Definitely not as good as the stuff back home, but it was hard to get that good, anyway.

...there's also the matter of setting things up in a location other than the dining hall, because even though that's cleaned up, it still feels pretty tasteless to hold a wake literal feet from the place you found someone's bloody corpse.

So, a little later on in the day, a lovingly personalized note will be slid under everyone's doors:

And if the Survivors choose to head to the library, they'll find a... well, okay, it's a bunch of boxes from the storage room of comparable size stacked up on each other to kind of resemble a table. The dining hall ones don't even seem like they'd fit in the library, so Team Afterparty clearly had to improvise. One side is filled with plates, bowls, and spoons, and the other is filled with brownies, cookies, and a big bowl of berry aqutak. There are also chairs dotted throughout the room in a sort of vague circle --- close enough together that if people want to talk, they can, but far enough apart that it'd be easy to drag it off for some privacy.]

At some point we will all have to learn that. I doubt this is going to be the only incident, so better to get prepared for any future...murders.

This is the first time I am really hoping to be wrong about something.

I'm sure there's more than a few people who realize the gravity of "punishment" now and won't be doing it, but there's probably just as many thinking "I can do better" in not getting caught.

[In other words: Yeah, she agrees.]

I'm just hoping it doesn't happen again so soon. I'm not sure how long it'll take some of these civilians to recover, and I'd hate to have them be put on the spot again like that.

I think everyone would feel better and less tempted about murder if we all had something to do. There must be some way to get everyone to do something.

I don't have any ideas, there's just so little ways to keep oneself entertained for long.
captainobnoxious: (36 that's sad)

A job for everyone would be a good idea, but there's not enough jobs for that. And anything we do will eventually get tiring no matter what. The one thing we have going for us at this very moment is that no one wants to have to do it again.

[There's people who can do it again if they have to -- like Sigrun herself -- but that doesn't necessarily mean she wants to either.]

We might just have to focus on getting everyone's spirits up, even something like this happens again.

If that's all there's to do then there shouldn't be any trouble. Humans are resilient in many ways. Most of us will return to a semblance of normality in one or two days.

I'm not saying anyone will be jumping down the hallway with joy, but at least we should all feel well enough to resist whatever may happen next.

I'd give them one or two days to at least feel again, then a day or so more to actually be more or less the way they were before. Especially the people who haven't dealt with burdens like this before.

That said, Mouri, [because she does remember names, she just reserves them for different situations, turning to look at him] if you or Lynne want to do something about the weapons and kitchen knives, I'd suggest you'd do it while everyone's more or less compliant. I wouldn't take them away, but keeping a running record of who's got what at the end of the day would be helpful if they get used. The earlier you set this in the easier it'll be for people to get used to it and the safer they'll feel.

Does that sound like something you two can work out?

[personal profile] sleepingkogoro 2016-03-06 05:00 am (UTC)(link)
I can talk to Lynne-san about that. She had been planning to do something about the weapons, so I'm sure she'd agree immediately to think something else.

I'll talk to her as soon as possible. We'll plan something.

[Yeah, Mouri sounds quite sure of that, and unlike the other times he has sounded confident about something, at least this time it is about something with more chances of succeeding]
captainobnoxious: (24 nah nah i'm joking)

[personal profile] captainobnoxious 2016-03-06 05:22 am (UTC)(link)
[That's good. Sigrun'll grin at him then, patting his arm.]

Glad to hear it, detective. I'm counting on you two to work something out. And thanks for coming over to check on me, even if you kept implying I was a murderer for part of the trial, I'm just holding an early vigil for those two idiots since I'm pretty sure no one's going to like anyone being alone in the hallways tonight.
sleepingkogoro: (no way im wrong)

[personal profile] sleepingkogoro 2016-03-06 04:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Huh? I did that?

[YOU DID IT FIRST, SIGRUN, GOD DAMN IT but yeah, that went over Mouri's head so he won't even point it out]

Well, uh, you mentioned trolls and all that. That must be different, I suppose.

[LISTEN, IT'S ALWAYS THE OTHER'S PERSON FAULT FIRST. AND HE'S BEEN ON ABOUT HER LIKES: KILLING THINGS FOR A WHILE NOW.]

One hundred percent different! Well, after they turn, anyway. Trolls used to be humans before the Illness took them and then they become disgusting creatures with no thought of their own, just hunter's instinct. It's what I hunt for a living.
sleepingkogoro: (no way im wrong)

[personal profile] sleepingkogoro 2016-03-06 05:03 pm (UTC)(link)
[Point taken! This was indeed the natural conclusion to all that pressuring.

Good thing it is pretty much over now, you won't ever hear of it again]

The Illness? What happened in your world?

[Because wow, just what kind of worlds do all these people come from. Why are there so few from orderly and relatively peaceful worlds like Mouri's]
captainobnoxious: (03 can't be that hard)

[personal profile] captainobnoxious 2016-03-06 05:11 pm (UTC)(link)
About a century ago the Illness came from nowhere and killed the world. It's like a really bad rash. People like me are immune because the ones who weren't died off over the years in some way, but there's a place that has more non-immunes than immunes since it's water-locked.

[Iceland's also got the best technology like, ever, but Sigrun doesn't really care about that part unless it helps to kill trolls.]

The ancient gods saved those that believed and punished those that didn't.
sleepingkogoro: (no way im wrong)

[personal profile] sleepingkogoro 2016-03-06 06:32 pm (UTC)(link)
[Wow. What a terrible world that sounds like]

So what you do is to secure the rest of the world from those affected with the Illness?
captainobnoxious: (12 matter o' fact kids)

[personal profile] captainobnoxious 2016-03-06 06:58 pm (UTC)(link)
[To the outside, maybe. But since it's all Sigrun's ever known, it's just normal.]

You bet. Anyone who gets infected is dealt with, but we'd really like to prevent that from happening in the first place, so my job is to clear out sections of the land and then from there the higher up decides what to do with it. Some of it is kept under watch and let regrown, some of it is burned to form lines against hardier sections of trolls, but the main goal is to retake all the land some day so that people can live and go where they please.

[personal profile] sleepingkogoro 2016-03-07 12:03 am (UTC)(link)
And you are the captain of a team who tries to recover the land. That explains many things, your natural leadership and what not.

[While the words don't hint a compliment the tone at least should. So well done on being impressive...ยก]

What is going to happen once the infected are dealt with? Are there enough people to populate the whole world?
captainobnoxious: (43 yeah sure)

[personal profile] captainobnoxious 2016-03-07 04:55 am (UTC)(link)
[Sigrun beams at the mention of her natural leadership, because she knows isn't it great that she's just the best??]

Hopefully by the time we conquer every corner of the world there will be, but it's nothing a little fun in the sack won't fix if there's not.

[Her plans of matchmaking people on Day One aren't so far in logic now, are they. Look at the world she lives in.]
