We are admittedly not entirely sure what the heck the catgirl is there for, but she's there. Anyway, in the dining hall this evening, Aqua and Yato have set things up for a group dinner!! All the food is being put on one table; the rest of the room is for mingling and is colorfully decorated in a way that suggests that Yato went wild in the art room at some point and decided what we all really need in our lives is more color and more glitter!!

There's also this piece of paper with everybody's names on it in pairs, and sets of questions (red tab at the bottom of the spreadsheet). That's right, your mystery game is speed-dating and Yato is here to be your cupid for the evening!! ]

An excellent choice. If you can believe it, I too wish for something like that from time to time. It would certainly make both of our jobs much easier.

Have you dealt with any surprisingly difficult cases, then? I imagine the ones here are a different sort of their own...

There has been several that has shown to be difficult! Nothing like the ones here - usually it's only me and a couple police detectives more, not twenty-something people arguing - but back home there has been cases where the criminals has shown to be way too clever.

It's good there are people who work to counter anything they can think or there'd be serious trouble.

[Just...don't ask him to tell you some because he can't remember the true methods and results due to, um, being knocked out when it's time to reveal all that. 98% of the time]

It sounds like you have some sharp detectives on your team! It helps of course, since it also sounds like you deal with some sharp criminals.

If you had your entire team here with you, do you think they would be able to figure out the situation? This really is one big case, when you think about it.

I have no doubt if they were here we would be out already.

[In times like this Mouri has to admit he misses the other inspectors and detectives. After so many cases worked with them, well...]

It wouldn't be the first time one of us is in a life-or-death situation in the hands of a madman, it happens every couple months. They are capable, I bet if they somehow have realized I'm missing then right now they would be trying their best to find us all.

Every couple months...? [He looks at Mouri, slightly concerned. Jeez!] You must live in a rather dangerous world, Mr. Mouri.

That said, we'll certainly have to hope that they manage to figure out. Though I doubt it will be easy- the circumstances of our being here together don't seem very clear at all. Even we only have mere hypotheses to go off of right now.

Give it some time. At some point somebody outside or us here inside will make some form of breakthrough. We can't stay locked in here forever.

[What can he say, that is how a manga/anime series focused on mystery/crime works. The police force and the detectives really do get in big trouble every sixty or so episodes]

There are more dangerous worlds out there. I'm sure even yours has some dark side to it. What's your world like?

Right. We are making small discoveries nearly every day. I always find it exciting when a hypothesis becomes a little more relevant for a new discovery.

[This place is still a huge enigma, but at least it doesn't feel like they're completely in the dark anymore.]

Oh, my world? Well, if you haven't heard already, my world contains humans and extraordinary creatures known as Pokemon. They have rather amazing abilities that go further beyond what any human is capable of. They work alongside humans for the most part, but there are criminal organizations running around out there that take advantage of Pokemon and their trainers.

Like in your world, the police force works hard every day to try to keep them in line.

So...Pokemon are like friendly mythological creatures?

That sounds about right, yes! Though to be fair, we even have our own mythical Pokemon. But I could definitely see normal Pokemon being compared to supernatural creatures from other worlds. In fact, that has already happened once...

[Let's just hope that Zoroarks aren't involved with the executions for real, though.]
