romance and murder go so well together

[ If the colorful posters from Tuesday weren't enough, Yato has redoubled his efforts for today and slapped these up all over the place:

We are admittedly not entirely sure what the heck the catgirl is there for, but she's there. Anyway, in the dining hall this evening, Aqua and Yato have set things up for a group dinner!! All the food is being put on one table; the rest of the room is for mingling and is colorfully decorated in a way that suggests that Yato went wild in the art room at some point and decided what we all really need in our lives is more color and more glitter!!

There's also this piece of paper with everybody's names on it in pairs, and sets of questions (red tab at the bottom of the spreadsheet). That's right, your mystery game is speed-dating and Yato is here to be your cupid for the evening!! ]
bloodisthicker: yeah but what are we going to do with all that melon juice? (pinky are you thinking what i'm thinking)

...you know, I've been really meaning to ask Cherryblod if there are... well, non-intelligent animals in his oceans that they're perfectly fine with people eating, because I keep getting really hungry for seafood.

[BUT IT FEELS SO AWKWARD WITH SHRIMPDAD HERE...]

It's really surprising how easy it feels to pick it back up, though, isn't it? Well, I'd been cooking routinely when I was back home, but it was only for breakfast.

[Shrimpdad makes a lot of things awkward....]

I should try cookin' around here more. It might help people around here. It's relaxing. Might be nice to try some more food from where you're from, too.
bloodisthicker: how do i seven year olds exactly (wow this is the most forced smile)

...I think my only worry here is that we keep making so many different kinds of food all the time that it's going to go to waste at some point. That, or we're just going to have to work out more...

...but really, I'll do my best. Unfortunately, a lot of the ingredients from home aren't really here, and a lot of it is, ah, fermented.

[...his expression kind of wibbles a bit into disgust when he says that, because holy shit, once he didn't actually have to eat fermented shit he stopped immediately]
notjustawriter: (♟ and the story it told)

Fermented, huh?

[.....sounds really gross.]

Sounds like it's somethin' of an acquired taste.
bloodisthicker: you sure about that (well this is awkward)

[personal profile] bloodisthicker 2016-03-21 11:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Sometimes... you never actually acquire it. It's good for storing it in the cold winter months when the seas freeze over more than usual, but...

...

Let's just say I was really happy to move somewhere more cosmopolitan.
notjustawriter: (♙ and what you plan to do)

That would be a problem, wouldn't it?

Creole cookin's pretty good, but I don't know too many recipes, unfortunately. I grew up surrounded by it, but never did learn enough about cooking the food myself.

I guess movin' elsewhere would have its advantages to eat stuff from other cultures.
bloodisthicker: it never fails. (i saw it in my coffee.)

I will say it's pretty fun opening up some of the newer canned stuff around people who aren't familiar with the stuff. It's an expression that never really loses its magic, no matter how many times you've seen it.

[he's pretty sure more delicate souls have fainted over it.]

Well, as long as you know the basics, there's nothing wrong with reasonable experimentation, right? It might not be what you remember, but it'll probably be good.
notjustawriter: (♙ i think it's true what they)

[personal profile] notjustawriter 2016-03-22 01:20 am (UTC)(link)
I guess that would be pretty entertaining.

[...it's still probably better than German food, ugh.]

It's not like there's a reason not to experiment, not here, anyway. There's only so much food at any given time.
