romance and murder go so well together
[ If the colorful posters from Tuesday weren't enough, Yato has redoubled his efforts for today and slapped these up all over the place:

We are admittedly not entirely sure what the heck the catgirl is there for, but she's there. Anyway, in the dining hall this evening, Aqua and Yato have set things up for a group dinner!! All the food is being put on one table; the rest of the room is for mingling and is colorfully decorated in a way that suggests that Yato went wild in the art room at some point and decided what we all really need in our lives is more color and more glitter!!
There's also this piece of paper with everybody's names on it in pairs, and sets of questions (red tab at the bottom of the spreadsheet). That's right, your mystery game is speed-dating and Yato is here to be your cupid for the evening!! ]

at least he recognizes those are characters from some comics! x-men..?? probably. ]
...Maybe? [ Said with all the confidence of someone who has maybe 5% knowledge of what he's saying maybe to. ]

I mean do you move things.

Oh--yes. I can teleport short distances too, and a few other things. [ ... ] I don't miss having them though--they're what connect me to my family, but... it wasn't like I was using them a lot, either. I'm no good at controlling them for one, and for two... "You shouldn't use your powers for your own sake, but for the sake of others."
Something like that. It's a tenant we Casters hold to.

... I guess it'd be too easy to take advantage if there wasn't some rules, huh?

[ let's just casually throw that out there, nbd ]

Holy shit, no wonder you don't use them a lot!
[Hell, some of his Persona skills use his life- but as in his health, not literal lifespan]

Everything in moderation. It's only if you go overboard that it starts to hurt you--like using them for hours straight, or doing anything heavy duty in a short amount of time. [ Or both. ] You can recover just fine health-wise--it mostly wears you out, though there's been... worst-case scenarios too--but you won't be living as long as you would've.
[ ... ]
Not that I think Casters have a very long life, anyway. My parents died pretty young, and all of the Casters I know aren't too much older than me either. [ Elder is... different. Elder's Elder. ] There's a lot of risks in the job, and dying because you put too much strain on your body is the least you have to worry about.
...but this isn't really dating conversation, is it? [ Not that they're on a date or anything, but-- ] Sorry for dragging the mood down.

Your life story was nicer than "yes, if we use our powers too much we die like that guy in Scanners did" though. [ ...as his mom said, scanning is hard work.
Who takes a pair of children to a movie like that anyway????? ]
