pick a god and pray

[Like the weeks before, once everyone has wandered off their separate ways, notes are posted to each room that still has a warm body in it. Only this time the writing is much messier then any other notice]

None of us feel like celebrating, but I think Yato would approve if we don't spend the night hiding out because of him
There's warmed up food in the Game Room if you're hungry. Might be best to not be alone tonight.

[And as promised there's leftovers in the Game Room; and eventually fresh stuff as Tarrlok gets to work in the kitchen. Yosuke is there, trying to set something up on one of the shelves, but otherwise you are left to your own devices]

I knew it would be difficult, I raised Ran by myself since she was six, but this kid is a different matter altogether.

[Oh boy, Conan Edogawa is an experience, and Mouri isn't the one who has dealt with it the best. Way to go, you asked and so Mouri is going to go into a spiel about the pain that is Conan.

Mouri takes a deep breath and starts:]

Conan Edogawa is a handful to deal with.

[That was said with a tone that shows he is completely serious about that]

He gets in serious trouble frustratingly often. He can't go three days without stumbling onto a dead body, either when he's with us or with his friends. I'm starting to think he is a murder case magnet. A police inspector I know once said the dispatchers have a code for Conan-kun and by now I'm starting to think that was not a bad joke.

[Too bad you didn't ask one day later or Mouri would tell you how the very last case he remembered was precisely Conan getting kidnapped for like the fifth time since Mouri has known him]

And he doesn't seem to understand a crime scene is not a playground! All the time he is prowling around, staring at stuff and messing with potential evidence. At least he has enough smarts to not to leave fingerprints but I have lost count of how many times I'm discussing the case with the inspectors and the brat goes 'What could this be?' and points something out, most of the time stuff surely we would have found out later without his help. Nobody can keep him out because he is determined to stick around no matter what!

And the worst part is that he loves to play dumb with me. Sometimes he spouts some sort of random trivia and then says he heard it in the TV, as if anyone would fall for that excuse. He is acting like he has something to hide, but what could a seven year old child hide? That is frustrating.
