it's the ultimate showdown (of ultimate destiny)
Thursday.
The day that'd been so longingly awaited since the meeting on Monday by both combatants.
The tables in the dining hall have been pushed to the walls for seating, everyone's had a paper shoved beneath their door alerting to them to the evening event, and anyone who had any business there suddenly does not. Seriously, those papers are like littered everywhere, unless you're not coming there's no way you didn't know there was something tonight.
On one side of the room is Sigrun with her weapon of choice: a pike she got from the vending machine a little bit ago, practicing her handling of it with a grace that remarks upon her life of combat experience, a quiet seriousness to her that's rarely seen. Her focus is on the opponent on the other side, twenty or so feet away, the clinking gears ever rolling.
Colress and Klinklang are also concentrated on what's about to go down, the man talking quietly to his Pokémon, all too ready to show the strength of the creature off to Sigrun. They'd been becoming reused to each other, Colress learning just what his frankly new friend (at least in evolution) could do, since that challenge put forth by the woman, and it's with confidence that the three now face each other, the air heavy with anticipation.
Let's fight.

Let me make sure you guys are alright.

[Klinklang had been holding back, after all, and her outfit's pretty durable all things considered. As is she. Much like a toddler, Sigrun will get knocked down and then get back up.]
Landed a nice few scratches on gearbot over there though. Wish I hadn't broken my pike.

[He gestures for her to hold up her hands for him to examine them.]
You know, there are better ways to entertain yourself than challenge people to a fight.
no subject
Nope. There's nothing that gets my blood going like a good spar, trust me, I have tried. It's unreplaceable.
no subject
To each their own, I suppose. [It's only partially exasperated this time. Bruce grips the arm she had been using the pike with and starts to bend it at the elbow.] Do you feel any particular muscle strain?
no subject
Just a little pain where I got hit by one of those gears. Even holding back those things hurt. Because they're steel.

I don't suppose you know how to treat a mechanical Pokemon, do you?
[He's completely joking, of course. Klinklang is mostly going to just need some rest in its Pokeball, and maybe a bit of wiping down with a cloth.]
no subject
[How does sentient gears work?? Do they need to eat? Bruce assumes it needs to eat. What does it even eat, metal?? So many unanswered questions.]
But I assume you can handle that on your own. [Since it is with Colress, after all.]
no subject
[Clearly it will be a good opportunity for Bruce to learn about Pokemon for when he can get one for himself at some point!! Clearly.]
Yes, I can handle it just fine. Is Miss Sigrun doing all right?
[He's more worried about her than Klinklang. And that's not to say she did worse, it's just that it's a lot harder to actually damage solid steel gears.]
no subject
[AS STRANGE AS IT ALL IS... Bruce does like learning new things. And Pokemon is a very big new thing, apparently.]
And yes, the captain is fine - just a few bruises, and nothing some ice and rest can't fix. [The fact that she's very... durable also helps, mostly.]

[Your de-facto Pokemon Professor is here, Vault residents!
And as for the Sigrun subject...]
Good, I am glad. And I am very, very impressed with how well she handled herself out there. As I said, people do not challenge Pokemon to fight all on their own very often. It takes a large amount of strength and wit to go toe to toe with creatures like them.

Holy crap, that was amazing!

Not that she's in horrid spirits about it, no, just like she left the small field of battle she's only got the most satisfied, excited expression. It's been a while since she had a fight. And it was an experience too! A beast commanded by a person, that's--
Well, it's nothing she's used to, and it was thrilling to be able to chance herself against it, even if her confidence did get the best of her. Stupid tiny gear. It was brilliant Pokémon are awesome.]

[Yosuke jogs over, eyes huge]
That was intense!
no subject
It was! I had soooo much energy pent up and it felt so good it just let it out. Especially since last week no one took up the fight to the finish deal.
no subject
[He huffs, but his energy is still good, and he grins]
But spars are fine. You looked like you were having fun.
no subject
[They are much more useful to her intact. But listen. An Ursaring or something? Absolutely would go unarmed.]

Better than ever, fluffhead! I haven't felt so good since-- before I got here!
[... Well, in this context anyway. Adrenaline rushes are different with Mettaton.]
So? What did you think? Was I awesome or what? Not to mention those two -- I'd take them under my command any day!
no subject
Well, that's great to hear! Seems like you really were enjoying yourself out there.
[Yeaaaaah]
You were top! [He changes gazes to the pokemon and its trainer.] I'd imagine they would be a rather fierce force if they were actually in the military.
no subject
[Even if she'd really rather not have a non-immune out in open field. Possible non-immune.]
no subject
Can't be easy, controlling a metal beast like that. Though mister Colress seems to have it under control like it's just a pet!
no subject
So Colress can be found sitting with Klinklang and taking some deep breaths as he calms down. He'll also be tending to the scratches on his Pokemon's body and making sure everything is in working order. Klinklang's rotating has slowed down a ton for this, and it almost looks at peace as Colress works on it. After an awkward start thanks to partial amnesia on Colress' part, the pair seem to have gotten used to each other once again.]
