Well, here "getting ahead in life" means "staying alive in the first place." And really, I can't care about people who aren't going to do whatever they can for the same goal. It's just holding me back.

So you can do or say whatever you want to everyone else. I'm not going to stop you, because it's not my choice to make. But I can't care about people who are going to point targets on themselves.
