WEEK 1 As much as this sounds like a bad joke all around, it looks like one thing is being played completely straight: you're not going anywhere. After the Kingmaker has answered your questions (or, well, perhaps it's more accurate to say he didn't answer them, at least as far as most of those little Q&A sessions went), you'll be left up to your own devices – feel free to continue exploring and getting to know your fellow Survivors for the next several days. Should you want to eat something you're free to use the kitchen before 10PM, but after that the doors will be locked and no amount of fussing with the locks or trying to break them down will get them to budge. And no, the robot cannot punch them in for you. Notably, though, starting bright and early on Monday morning (or maybe just early, since there aren't any windows) you'll be treated to the most unholy damn noise – it's very definitely an electric siren of some sort, probably some kind of klaxon, blaring out over the PA system. It only blasts once, but really, for something that loud, once is enough. This will happen every morning at 7AM and again in the evenings at 10PM. You'll be able to hear it no matter what room you're in. There isn't any punishment for sleeping through it, but you don't want to waste the day in bed, now do you? (Unless you were out exploring all last night. In which case, go back to bed, damn.) SURVIVORS REMAINING: 27

...Well...I guess it's something that you can't just make yourself stop doing. Unless you're practiced at it, anyway! But it's easier for some people than others.

[His gaze darts toward the door, briefly.]

You can go ahead and close that, if you'd like. And come sit! It's fine.

With any luck, I may worry enough for everyone else.

[ It's her attempt at a joke, at least. Aqua closes the door and takes a seat on the bed. Usually she wouldn't--but there's nowhere else to sit, honestly. ]

[He doesn't mind! It's not like he uses it, anyway, not really. Once in a while for the hell of it, but otherwise...]

Is there anything specific on your mind? Or just general concern for everybody?

A bit of both. Pearl and I have both spoken about our confusion as to how the Kingmaker sealed our abilities.

...Mine probably shouldn't be sealed either, for the record. My magic is tied directly to my soul, after all - the only way to cut me off from it that I know of would be to kill me. And, well! I'm obviously here and just fine.

It's been...concerning me, a little, but I've been trying not to think about it.

It's starting to feel like this Kingmaker is capable of almost anything.

[ ... Including some things she doesn't particularly want to think about. ]

Not everything.

[And that's...not quite up to his usual enthusiasm levels, but bless him, he's trying really hard.]

Sometimes you can't know that everything is going to work out - things get dark and ugly and everything feels out of your control, and that's all right! It happens! And it sucks a lot! ...But when things like that come down on you, that's when you've got to shine brightest, because if you don't then you might as well just give up.

Even if the Kingmaker controls the situation, he doesn't control us - we'll always have ourselves to fall back on, and our outlook on life, and our ability to hope for the best. There's nothing that's so bad that it can't get better! Everything can be golden glitter if you want it to be; no problems, no worries, because there's nothing we can't handle. All right?

[ As Aqua listens to him, she understands just why he's such a popular celebrity. ]

You're right. We don't have to play into his hands, even if we've been captured and brought here. So far, everyone seems unwilling to do what he wants. I'm not sure if that will change any time soon, if at all.

[ It's enough to encourage her, at least. She'll always worry, but... but keeping in mind Mettaton's words makes it a little easier. ]

There, see! Just try to keep that spark alive. It'll cut through whatever darkness the Kingmaker tries to bring.

[He shrugs a bit.]

People count on those like you and me. For different reasons, maybe! But they do. And it's easier to look out for them if you're looking out for yourself too. Helping yourself helps them, you know?

[prismbloom]

[ Her smile comes a little easier now. She folds her hands in her lip. It sounds like the sort of thing her master would tell her. ]

Helping myself--like learning a new skill or two?

Exactly! That's exactly it.

[And that seems to have pleased him, really; his energy levels are back up, anyway.]

So come on, get up and show me what you've got - I'm dying to hear it!

[prismbloom]

[ His excitement is almost palpable, and it's hard not to feel the same way despite her nerves. She stands and clears her throat before singing--for reference, since willa holland apparently doesn't sing--some song?? use your imagination i don't know ]

[Well, he'll listen to her, surely, and - ]

Ahhhh, see! I told you you'd be fine! You sound great, darling, I'm not just saying that.

[prismbloom]

[ At his compliment, she turns a little redder. ]

I've never sung for anyone else, actually. [ Three guesses why. ] As for dancing, I'm afraid I'm much more hopeless.
