WEEK 1.
As much as this sounds like a bad joke all around, it looks like one thing is being played completely straight: you're not going anywhere. After the Kingmaker has answered your questions (or, well, perhaps it's more accurate to say he didn't answer them, at least as far as most of those little Q&A sessions went), you'll be left up to your own devices – feel free to continue exploring and getting to know your fellow Survivors for the next several days. Should you want to eat something you're free to use the kitchen before 10PM, but after that the doors will be locked and no amount of fussing with the locks or trying to break them down will get them to budge. And no, the robot cannot punch them in for you. Notably, though, starting bright and early on Monday morning (or maybe just early, since there aren't any windows) you'll be treated to the most unholy damn noise – it's very definitely an electric siren of some sort, probably some kind of klaxon, blaring out over the PA system. It only blasts once, but really, for something that loud, once is enough. This will happen every morning at 7AM and again in the evenings at 10PM. You'll be able to hear it no matter what room you're in. There isn't any punishment for sleeping through it, but you don't want to waste the day in bed, now do you? (Unless you were out exploring all last night. In which case, go back to bed, damn.) |

My sister, White, was born without psychic powers, but she never faltered once because of it. [ Black leans on his hand, eyes closing. ] When we were younger, we were making mudballs after a storm. It was a lot of fun, but I didn't really have a knack for sculpture. I still don't.
My ball was misshapen and lumpy and just... not very ball-like, really. Hers was perfect, and she was so proud of it that she showed it off to me. I... [ ducking his head now, wincing. ] Didn't have the best reaction to that. Actually, it was really childish of me--I blew it up in her face without a second thought because I was so frustrated that she could do something I couldn't.
But White... she didn't let that get her down. She looked really surprised, then just went off to make another one. I felt so silly watching her, like she was leaving me behind--because she didn't get mad or cry or anything like that, when I know that I would've.
[ a soft sigh, and Black sits back up. ]
So I swore that I wouldn't use them until I felt I was strong enough to make it through life without them. Before that, they'd go off at any given moment--I cried a lot and tore up our yard that way. [ That's so normally said. ] That's why.

I don't really get it since I don't have any siblings, but... I mean, she must've felt the same way about you too. [Though this is going on a limb.] Most family of Mages are gifted the same way, but sometimes you'll meet siblings who're like you and your sister. One has it, one doesn't.
[So it must be hard for them. She waves her hand.]

The last thing I remember is my sister bleeding out in front of my parents. I wasn't strong enough to keep her safe, like an older brother should. [ Older, even if they're twins. ] I'm still a coward and a crybaby, and I... I take the easy way out of things, I guess. There's no way I'm strong.

There's nothing wrong with being a coward as long as you stand up when it matters, and there's nothing wrong with you being a crybaby, either. There's people who've lost their ability to cry and I can assure you that they miss it.
