WEEK 1
As much as this sounds like a bad joke all around, it looks like one thing is being played completely straight: you're not going anywhere. After the Kingmaker has answered your questions (or, well, perhaps it's more accurate to say he didn't answer them, at least as far as most of those little Q&A sessions went), you'll be left up to your own devices – feel free to continue exploring and getting to know your fellow Survivors for the next several days. Should you want to eat something you're free to use the kitchen before 10PM, but after that the doors will be locked and no amount of fussing with the locks or trying to break them down will get them to budge. And no, the robot cannot punch them in for you.

Notably, though, starting bright and early on Monday morning (or maybe just early, since there aren't any windows) you'll be treated to the most unholy damn noise – it's very definitely an electric siren of some sort, probably some kind of klaxon, blaring out over the PA system. It only blasts once, but really, for something that loud, once is enough. This will happen every morning at 7AM and again in the evenings at 10PM. You'll be able to hear it no matter what room you're in. There isn't any punishment for sleeping through it, but you don't want to waste the day in bed, now do you?

(Unless you were out exploring all last night. In which case, go back to bed, damn.)

Yeah, I'm gonna ask him about that. Since no one seems to have access to healing artes here, I guess I've gotta rely on him. Maybe that machine will drop gels or something though...

Something tells me people being able to heal themselves would be counterproductive to what we're here for.

Yeah. But it is interesting that he's found a way to seal off our abilities. Well, mine and Yosuke's, at least. I don't know about everyone else.

...I do feel somewhat weaker than normal, though I wouldn't say I have special abilities. I'm no magic-user.

Yeah, neither am I, but my artes are sealed. I can't use any of them.

Perhaps it's to level the playing field? If we're meant to murder each other.

Yeah, I guess so. No healing, no powerful moves... Guess he had this whole thing prepared.

It all seems well-thought out. Doubt it was done on short notice.

But the question is why. I can't figure out this guy's angle.

Hm, can't say the same myself, really... [A few people come to mind, mostly dead.] But you're much younger.

Well yeah, but I've met some pretty weird people. The guilds are full of 'em. My boss is one of 'em.

You must live an interesting life, in that case.

Yeah, I guess so. It gets kinda dull at times, but it's because I do the same things over and over again and no one's good enough to fight me.

[DRAMATIC SIGH]

[Heh.] Maybe you'll find someone interested in sparring, if you can convince them it's not a murder attempt.

Heh, yeah. I normally don't bother sparring since I'm used to fighting for my life, but it might be fun. I'm a bit worried about losing my touch.

[He doesn't sound sarcastic, but he's grinning in a way that makes it clear that he actually isn't worried about that at all.]

We can't have that. I'd offer, but I'm unarmed at the moment.

[Not to mention, he still feels strangely weak, to the point where he can't chalk it up to just being groggy.]

Same here. I usually fight with knives, and none of those pathetic little ones here.

I'd rather have a kitchen knife than nothing, but it's no substitute for a real weapon.

Well yeah, definitely. Heh, I wonder how many people have already taken knives? For self-defense, of course.

That's worth investigating. Though I wouldn't blame anyone for taking one.

As long as we don't lose all our knives, it should be fine. We kinda need some for cooking.

...How many do we have, actually? Not twenty-seven.
