Week 9.

WEEK 9 For the first time since your stay in the Vault began, no one died this week. That doesn't mean there weren't casualties among you, however – namely, trust, interpersonal relationships, and comfort in the group dynamic as a whole. Hopefully no one else pays the price for it. Saturday is given to regrouping and sleep; there aren't any bodies to be found on Sunday morning. You're safe for now – unless your dreams have told you otherwise... SURVIVORS REMAINING: 10

[Is it a better Sunday than most? On the one hand, no one died this weekend. On the other...

Cherryblod makes breakfast in the kitchen as usual, and as usual there's enough for more than just him - there's crepes enough for the ten remaining survivors and then some. Take your fill.

There's no new floor, which he expected, so he spends the morning going through the library. He's looking for something in particular, and judging by his frown he's not finding it.

Around lunchtime he puts up a sign near the profiles:
Under the circumstances, Captain Sigrun thought it might be vest to re-vote for acting leader.

Please sign your vote. You may choose more than one.

[There are columns set up for all ten of the remaining survivors - even you, Black - and they're alphabetical so there's no favoritism.

Cherryblod himself has signed under Sigrun's name.

He'll be checking that sign every so often in the afternoon, and the rest of the time he can be found flitting around the lower floors. It would be a patrol if he didn't look so restless and it wasn't the middle of the afternoon.

He's not icing his shoulder as much as he should be.]

[ Black's name joins Cherryblod's under Sigrun; he... doesn't know how much weight his vote really should carry, but.

Sigrun's a good leader, no matter what happens. She never tried to steer them wrong, even if her heart gets the better of her at times. ]

[He has a lot of thoughts on this whole 'leader' thing. But that's for talking to people face to face later. When he's feeling more emotionally capable.]

[After a few more private things in the morning, Sigrun and Black head to room 24 to pick up his things and move them to her room, though they won't linger long as they've got Things To Do.

First up is the conference room, where she makes Black sit down in a chair to busy himself while she takes up her trusty chalk and writes a very simple sentence for her ghost friend:

... After that, they swing by the dining hall, though only Black goes in (to vote and grab them lunch), and then they're going to hang up at the bar, Sigrun writing in a sketchpad and Black... playing a song on the piano there.

It's apparently the only one he knows besides "minuets" whatever those are. Additionally, they're both drinking, as one does in a bar.

Their last stop of the day is to the sewing room, where Black's going to start on Sigrun's requested dress. She looks really bored. He seems to be concentrating. It's great.

Like at the afterparty, they won't be butting into each other's conversations too much, so simply note who you're gonna converse with somewhere in your tag and that's good enough!]

[Cherryblod's more wandering the lower floors than patrolling at this point, and when he sees Sigrun through the doorway, he sticks his head inside.]

Busy, captain?

[Ah, Cherryberry. She watches Black for a moment before shaking her head.]

Not really. What d'you need, sweetheart?

Just to know how you're holding up.

[Always priority number one.]

I'm okay. I didn't have any dreams last night, though, so I guess I really am all up to date... or whatever. But kind of miss dreaming about my world.

[Since she doesn't really dream otherwise.]

I heard you have a leader vote thing up. Are you gonna keep that up there the whole week, or just a few days? I figure there's a few people who won't be having an opinion just yet. It's... a pretty hard thing to think about, at this point of time.

At least until Thursday, I think. By Friday we might need some kind of decision.

[...You know. Given that someone might die again.]

Not many of us have voted yet, and we have one abstaining.

If there's nothing solid by then I'm just gonna take the spot, whether or not it's a popular opinion. We can't go leaderless for too long. That's just a mistake.

[The world could hate her and she'd still want to protect the people she could.]

I'm hesitant to go long even a day without it, knowing we're short on time as is, but I'm not asking anything of anyone.

And I'll be there with you as always. Anyone who doesn't like it can answer to me.

[He has at least one person's respect, sort of.]

[... She's not really sure what her face should be doing right now, so she just kind of lays her head in his arms and peers at him over them.]

You'd go to hell and back for someone you cared about, darling. But sometimes it's better just to leave it.

Not very good at just leaving it, dear.

[He has a bruise to prove it.]

You oughta learn.

[It's like Mettaton's philosophy about cutting ties is coming back to haunt her. Except she still doesn't want to cut ties with anyone. They can do it with her if they want, but she'll still take a hit for them.]

But you wouldn't be you if you weren't a stubborn ass like me about it, huh.

[... Kind like with the Kingmaker and his friend. So who's she in that situation, the friend or the Kingmaker?]

Not at all. One of my better qualities.

[He gets closer to her, enough to reach out and try to ruffle her hair.]

One of yours, too.

[He can ruffle her hair, she'll accept it.]

I agree. It's done me more good than bad here, even now, and I'm positive it's one of the most loved things about me. When I'm on your side.
