Final Investigation.
| You've all done very well to make it this far, but it's not over yet. The klaxons blare out today, as they always do – there's no reason they should do any differently, not least of which because it's a Thursday; strange things usually don't happen around here until Fridays, and there's no reason to think that today will be any different. But as soon as you awaken and get a glimpse of what's happening down that first-floor corridor, it becomes very apparent that that's far from the case. The usual rooms on the eastern wing of the first floor are gone entirely, replaced by more of that glossy black that coats the courtroom; it's a little vertigo-inspiring at first, but it's not dangerous. Of more interest, then, is probably those three rooms that seem to be waiting for you – one to the north, two to the south. Choose where you're going to go. Look around for a while. What else are you going to do, after all? >Explore? |
[OOC: Welcome to the final investigation! The areas blocked off in rooms 2 and 3 will require card keys to open; otherwise, you are free to investigate at your leisure!
Remember, we need 15 comments total from each of you on this log somewhere!]

IT'S POSSIBLE THAT SOMETHING DESTROYED THEM IN THE INTERIM, BUT IF THEY WERE NOT GOING TO BE DESTROYED ANYWAY CHANCES ARE THAT THEY'RE FINE.

And last question. ...better make it good. ]
Would you consider us friends? [ ... ] All of us with you. Not just you and I, Glory.

YOU ARE ALL GOOD PEOPLE.
GOOD LUCK, BLACK.
[And it looks like that is going to be all; no further responses from here on out.]

[ ...whether or not Glory's going to be responding, it's only polite to, and after a moment more of making sure they're not going to reply he heads over to Sigrun and leans against her. ]
I think we're done here, Miss Sigrun. [ ...are they going to be able to do this...? ] I'm sorry that you're three for three on people you like being fake somehow.

Mouri and Speedy'll tell you what happened in the room back there, too, but... I can tell you a few things. So you can write it down right now.
[Business. She's tired of feeling like this.]
It was like our trial room. There's a podium there, too, and... I don't know there was anything more to it, but the screen that it was on when I stood at it had a list of everyone's titles including the Kingmaker's, and "Alive" beneath them. When you clicked one of the titles, a... hologram would appear in the center. The person you'd chose.
But it wouldn't really be them. It'd kind of be them, but... it was more like how things are in the pit. It's them, but with an intent to really kill you.
[Sigrun pauses there, lets Black recognize the Mettaton she'd seen then, and then continues.]
But their attacks wouldn't do anything. It's just showing what would happen.

...no we're not doing business, Sigrun, fuck that. ] Are you going to be okay?
no subject
I don't have time not to be okay.

A good question. That depends on what happens, doesn't it? If they ever even win the game. There's a lot of ways to win it, apparently, and only one Sigrun knows of herself: killing someone and deceiving the rest.
But she'd never do that. Not now. Maybe earlier, if the incentive had been nice enough, if she didn't have people to protect and souls to lay to rest. She brings her hands up and cups her chin, blowing out.]
What would you do?

If we survive and everything's fine, and we can all go home? [ He mimics her, but just with his left hand. ] Cry, kiss Yosuke because there's not going to be a time to do it otherwise, and then go home to see my parents and my sister.
[ A simple enough plan. ...one he's saying quietly because he doesn't really want anyone else to overhear. ]
Crying's the important part. [ ... ] You should think about it. It feels really good sometimes.
no subject
I've never felt good after I cry. It doesn't change anything. [Crying wouldn't make anyone come back. Wouldn't change the fact they were one way or another.
She'll think about her plan though, then sigh.] If we survive, everything's fine, and we can all go home... I'll give my offer to everyone again to come with me, thank them for everything, and then take Cherry home with me. We're supposed to pick up his daughter and wife first though, so I hope it's not just a one way trip.
[Sigrun's gonna be making invisible drawings on the table. She just wishes there was one more person coming home with her.]

I hope it's not either. [ ...but it probably is. It'd be nice to be able to visit other worlds though—other times. For all that Hellsalem's Lot City and the rest of his Earth has, the people he's met here? There's no one close to any of them.
He's certain of that. Not his world, not the Alterworld, not anything else that might still be running parallel to either. ] ...I should've asked about that. I should've asked about our powers. Then we'd know for certain.
[ ...he can't help but think about the Kingmaker's words, how it was smart of him not to trust someone who appeared this late in the game, and adds almost as an afterthought: ] Or something like it. We'd have an idea.
no subject
[That's all she'll say at first, before glancing over at him.]
... I actually think I trust the Kingmaker more than I do them. To my knowledge, he... hasn't been anything but honest with me. Secretive, an ass, evasive of questions... but I don't think he's lied, which is kind of weird.
Doesn't make me want to kill him any less, of course. And I'll keep his words with a grain of salt. But it's a weird thought.
