[ Generally, people need time to cope and gather themselves after a... thing... like that. Unfortunately, that's not how Vanille sees it. Her thing is avoid, and once she gets out of that hellhole that's the courtroom, she makes her way to the supplies closet, then to the library. She spends some time setting up things, pushing things aside to make room. Once she's finished, and she's met up with the Party Brigade, she makes enough invitations for everyone. She slips them under everyone's doors, or hands them out if she sees someone walking around.

Inside the library, there are candles set up to provide some soft, comforting lighting. There are pots of tea, courtesy of Mercy, pancakes made by Viktor, and books (picked out by Estelle, of course) laid out on the surrounding tables. The others have provided their own touches, and Vanille's even managed to make something: sugar cookies, which are actually very good. They're flavored lightly with all sorts of flavors--not all in the same cookie, okay--and each plate is marked with whatever flavor she's put in them.

After a successful trial, it's healthy to indulge, right? Let's mingle. ]

A long time ago, Fang had taught Vanille how to throw a punch. Honestly, Vanille had never really gotten why, but Fang had insisted. Fang's a pretty tough lady, and for Vanille to be able to easily keep up with her... Well. She's gotten strong, even if her true strength rests in magic.

... But she's still hella strong, which is gonna be hard for Gold to forget, like, any time soon after her punch connects with his arm. ]

[Have you ever said something, thought something, and then immediately regretted it?

Gold's had that like three times today. This is the third. This is the third, and he's positive that she might've layered a bruise on another bruise, enjoy that yelp oh my god.]

Shit, Vanille, you have a better arm than you think!

[ Oh man, now she feels bad! She told you bruh. ]

Well, Fang made sure I could hit hard enough to keep bullies away. [ She gets up. ] I'll go get you some ice, okay?

[ And away...! She returns pretty quickly, with ice all wrapped up in a cloth. She gently presses it against his arm. ]

Better?

[That-- is a relief in more ways than one, and Gold only winces a little at first.]

Y--Yeah, that's nice. Thanks. [...] So who's Fang? That's a pretty cool name for someone to have.

You're welcome. [ Well, look at that smile. Vanille's eyes sort of soften, too. ] She's my best friend and my partner, and one of the greatest warriors I know. She wields a lancer, taller than she is, and she's the best at it. She can take down a fully-grown behemoth all by herself, no sweat. [ She pauses. ] But she's not just physically strong... She's really brave. She's always been there to protect me and make sure I'm doing alright. And she's not afraid to speak her mind, ever.

[ She laughs lightly. ]

If you think I can hit hard, it's nothing compared to Fang.

Sounds like you've got yourself one hell of a friend there! Man, I wish I could meet her, a gal like that's gotta be a looker.

But seriously, she sounds great! How long've you two known each other? How'd you meet?

Hmm... sometimes I wonder. But everyone in Oerba is so much like a family anyway, so... sad as I am that I never got to know the people who made me, I never thought I was missing much.
