WEEK 3.

WEEK 3 As the second week draws to a close, two more have joined the deceased. Christo and Alani are dead, leaving twenty-six of you remaining. It may not seem like very many have died, but their absence will certainly be felt. Saturday is given to regrouping and rest; on Sunday morning the clock chimes as it always has, but at least there are no bodies to find today. It seems you're safe for now. The night before wasn't necessarily a peaceful one, however; you'll probably feel a bit groggy when you wake up, and it seems you've regained something that you didn't realize you'd lost... Just like last week, a door in the stairwell has opened, leading you down further into the building; there are more rooms open to you down there - possibly even one that you'll find personally interesting. Go ahead and explore all you like; after all, you did well at completing your lessons this past week. APPRENTICES REMAINING: 26 APPRENTICES REMAINING: 25

Unless I was sleep all that time, I guess.

[ That'd be abnormally long even for her though. ]

[officerhops]

[Right, Vampire...things.]

Do vampires sleep that long?

[matchbreaker]

Yeah, as long a we drink enough beforehand! A lot of older vampires if they get bored of living for a bit will go to sleep for a year or four. The longest I've been out before now is a eight years though.

[ And James...

... Don't focus on that. ]

[officerhops]

[Yikes.]

Maybe that would explain your memory loss, but it still leaves everyone else's a mystery. Urgh...nothing's adding up.

[Judy huffs, pressing a paw to her forehead as she leans up against one of the chairs nearby.]

[matchbreaker]

Are you till taking notes?

[ She asks, after a short pause, during which she picked up her pencil again, so to touch up Ren's sketch more ]

[officerhops]

[Judy nods.]

I have had a lot of catching up to do after last week, but I am. Chiyuki found an notebook for me so I've got somewhere to put everything, at least.

[Of course, all of her notes are...pretty much just disjointed bits of information, really.]

[matchbreaker]

Well if you're on the memory page, I got something else for you.

[....slooowly flips back to that page.]

I don't know any anyone else, but mine were out of order. [ Which feels so weird to say... but. ] There's no way that the one I dreamt about last week was before the one this week. It had to be after.

[officerhops]

I'm actually wondering if the same thing happened with me. The last...two things I remember? They seem really far apart. Like there is a lot of stuff missing inbetween.

[matchbreaker]

Since when can memories even be out of order! That makes no sense!

[officerhops]

I know. I wish I had some sort of concrete explanation for it, but the longer time goes on, the more questions I'm left with that remain unanswered.

[ Okay, she's ... got it together. ]

Yeah, I'll bet. [ A beat ] Not like I've got that much to show for it either. Just four dead people.

[officerhops]

Mm. At least some of us have kept ourselves together this long. I'm just...shocked that it's happened twice now.

[matchbreaker]

I'm not. [ . . . ] Well, I am surprised it happened that quickly, I suppose. I was thinking more three weeks for this many.

[officerhops]

What do you think about it happening two weeks in a row?

[matchbreaker]

I think the second week Wordsmith rigged it. So I don't know if he's going to keep doing that or not, but... [ Exhale - oh, se's biting her nail ] But that'll be rough if he does.

[officerhops]

[See, that's concerning, because Judy's not sure she's ever seen you worried about anything, Elda.]

You think so?

[matchbreaker]

Yes.

[ . . . ]

Maybe you animals all get along, but humans kill for any number of stupid reasons, and if he knows as much as he likes to pretend he does, he can poke them towards it. Hell, some've them here have killed before.

[officerhops]

Yeah. Yeah, I...I know.

[Judy's own idealistic view of the world is starting to fall apart, that's for sure.]

He's done it twice now, so far. I guess we'll just have to wait to see if he does it again.

[matchbreaker]

You'd pardon Ushiromiya like that?

[ After all, there wasn't an explicit motive then. ]

[officerhops]

[Judy's gaze narrows and her nose twitches, briefly.]

I never said that. No one who has killed someone can be pardoned, no matter the reason.

[matchbreaker]

Because of your law?

[ Everyone got so emotional over Alani that time. ]

[officerhops]

[Judy nods, slowly.]

If it wasn't a law, terrible people out there would abuse it to do whatever they wanted. But I won't say it doesn't hit snags in some circumstances.

[Like with Alani.]

I honestly don't think any of us would have ever been tempted to kill if we weren't put in this situation. Maybe I'm wrong about that, but that's what I believe.
