WEEK 3 As the second week draws to a close, two more have joined the deceased. Christo and Alani are dead, leaving twenty-six of you remaining. It may not seem like very many have died, but their absence will certainly be felt. Saturday is given to regrouping and rest; on Sunday morning the clock chimes as it always has, but at least there are no bodies to find today. It seems you're safe for now. The night before wasn't necessarily a peaceful one, however; you'll probably feel a bit groggy when you wake up, and it seems you've regained something that you didn't realize you'd lost... Just like last week, a door in the stairwell has opened, leading you down further into the building; there are more rooms open to you down there - possibly even one that you'll find personally interesting. Go ahead and explore all you like; after all, you did well at completing your lessons this past week. APPRENTICES REMAINING: 26 APPRENTICES REMAINING: 25

Hopefully, anyway! They have given me two beautiful grandchildren.

Gems don't have families. It sounds kind of nice, actually.

[It's not something she would have thought a couple weeks ago.]

Oh yeah, not even like the other Jaspers grown at the same time are your sisters?

[She shakes her head.]

Not exactly.

We're the same kind of Gem, but that doesn't make us family.

Oh, that's too bad.

[ In face, she even frowns at it... ]

Well, I guess not all space aliens are the same.

Jaspers are all warriors, but that doesn't mean we have the same personalities.

[But then again this is the only other Jasper who has appeared in the series so far.]

Despite even being grown the same? [ Huh. ]

[ . . . Fine, she can start to draw the woman, but either way, ]

Everyone else is dead.

[She falls silent for a long moment.]

I am... sorry to hear that.

[ She... prefers not to think about the fact James is dead. Instead, she's just going to- ]

Most of them died a long time ago, they were getting pretty ripe anyway.

...I understand.

It does not get easier, no matter how much time has passed.

[ Yes it does.

... It has to. Elda smiles a little at that, actually, despite the fact that Calera is starting to form in her drawing. ]

So your space aliens can die too?

[iaspis]

Yes, of course. I saw many Gems broken during the war.

[No comment on the drawing so far, but she does look very interested.]

Oh, right, you're a soldier.

[ Who is apparently thousands of years old.

Death doesn't usually bother me, but this place... it's different.

There's no honor in dying here.
