WEEK 3
As the second week draws to a close, two more have joined the deceased. Christo and Alani are dead, leaving twenty-six of you remaining.

It may not seem like very many have died, but their absence will certainly be felt.

Saturday is given to regrouping and rest; on Sunday morning the clock chimes as it always has, but at least there are no bodies to find today. It seems you're safe for now. The night before wasn't necessarily a peaceful one, however; you'll probably feel a bit groggy when you wake up, and it seems you've regained something that you didn't realize you'd lost...

Just like last week, a door in the stairwell has opened, leading you down further into the building; there are more rooms open to you down there - possibly even one that you'll find personally interesting.

Go ahead and explore all you like; after all, you did well at completing your lessons this past week.

Ten years... That's a lot to take in.

[once in the kitchen, he hops up onto the counter.]

This sounds like a happy memory to me, so far.

It was. It...it was the happiest I'd been in so long. [She's eating up a few pastries. ...And getting the strawberries.]

But, I remembered... I remembered something very bad, this time.

... Would it help to talk a bit more about the happy things first? Like how you get good news before you get bad news.

I... I don't know. The good and the bad, they're all... [ding! microwave done. ...because that meant heating not eating yet-] Aah. Rika, she- I told you, no one could see me, or interact with me, yes? Well...she changed that. She is the only one who can, back home.

You're not alone anymore! And if one person can see you, it's only a matter of time before more can, too. [aggressively points out the bright side]

Aah, well...she's a special case. It's because, she's my descendant. The eighth first born girl in a row, she's...well, they say she's my reincarnation, but...I know more truthfully, she's my daughter's.

[likes: her daughters]

No wonder she's so important to you.

... Does she have powers? Like the seventh son of a seventh son?

Seeing and communicating with me could be considered that alone, but, aah... ...Sort of.

She keeps...the villagers calm. There's something about her, that...she has a naturally relaxing atmosphere, to prevent...catastrophes. [...] And maybe..one other thing.

How many catastrophes could a village have? [he asks, like a fool]

Really?

Hinamizawa was... It's history is steeped in tragedy and death. It seems that's hard to shake. It's...an unfortunate place.

[yeah uh. how. do you even respond to that.]

What was the one other thing? [just fuckin go right past it YEET]

Rewinding time. Or maybe that's mine. I...can't be sure. [you tried to dodge an awkward topic and end up on another one]

Ah, time travel. [that exists.] Why can't you be sure?

Because when it was used, she was dead.

So, either she turned back time to before she died, or you did? [he's gettin it]

[Nod.]

I... She... We turned back time...and we were in this place... [She sounds almost dazed.] A field of...space, and dark, and crystals. And I reached for one of them, for Rika, and...

Suddenly, it was...six years ago. And she soon remembered everything that'd happened. And neither of us could understand it.

... Something gave you another chance. To do things differently. [to not die] That sounds like a very good thing to me.

So why am I still so worried? [Her voice cracks.] I saw her...after it was done, her...her blank eyes, a-and the blood, everywhere. It's all I can think about...!

Because... [give him a minute. this is just a smidge outside his normal wheelhouse. he can do this.] Of course you're worried! That's an awful thing to see, especially someone you care so much about! But... You can use how you feel to motivate yourself, to make sure you never see her hurt ever again. You can use your chance to help her, protect her. That has to be why you got it in the first place.

[She sniffles and wipes away the oncoming tears.]

I... I-I can... Y-yes, I... I'll...from now on, I'll keep Rika safe, a-always.

I know you will!

[he's just gonna move in to hug her. and if it's a little tighter than the ones he usually gives, because all of this is kinda getting to him a little... well, it doesn't hurt, at least. he's at least that aware.]

[She hugs him right back, conscious of where her horns are. She wouldn't want to stab anyone with them, and that's always...a worry. Still.]

Th- thank you... Thank you for listening.

Any time. [he pulls back and smiles at her.] Though, I hope you only have good dreams from now on.
