WEEK 4.

WEEK 4 Three more have died this past week. Milla Maxwell was killed for breaking a rule, Chiyuki was murdered, and you all had a hand in executing Yoshikage Kira. It seems like this isn't going to stop any time soon. How many more will join them this week? Saturday is given to regrouping and rest; on Sunday morning the clock chimes as it always has, but at least there are no bodies to find today. It seems you're safe for now. The night before wasn't necessarily a peaceful one, however; you'll probably feel a bit groggy when you wake up, and it seems you've regained something that you didn't realize you'd lost... Despite the Wordsmith's reaction to the last trial, it seems as though you've been rewarded once again for a job that was...well, it was done, even if he didn't explicitly say it was well-done. Another door has opened in that stairway, it seems, leading you further down into the building; once again, there are more rooms down there, more things to occupy yourselves with. Or perhaps just more means to get creative with regards to how you take initiative with your fellow Apprentices. APPRENTICES REMAINING: 23 APPRENTICES REMAINING: 22 APPRENTICES REMAINING: 20

[ Her expression becomes a bit more serious, and she folds her hands in front of her. ]

Well... you remember my story, when we were all telling spooky ones? Mine was... well, it was true. The Fal'Cie, they brand people to become l'Cie, give them a Focus, or a goal, to complete. If they fail that Focus, they become Cie'th.

I watched all my friends become Cie'th.

You mean...from our relative perspective? I...I suppose it's possible. Or...this place's society could just not be as advanced.

[Hanyuu wordlessly takes Vanille into a hug, eyes wide.]

Mhmm, our perspective; when you compare it to some of the other rooms, too, it seems...older.

You won't. I assure you of that.

You're not the type to simply forget. Her religion will live on, if that is what you have decided.

I do wonder...if you would be willing to pass it further?

...aah... Oh, that...is true. I hadn't thought of it compared to the other rooms. Maybe...maybe that's something to look into...if we can.

Well...for a culture to spread...there must be more people who know about it...than simply one.

[She looks grateful.]

So what do you usually do? Lots of jogging?

I appreciate it, really. It's not something I don't know how to deal with at this point, though. It...can be frustrating, but it really just makes me want to work that much harder.

[officerhops]

[Judy grins wide, taking the second arrow from Varric.]

Told you I might hit the ceiling. But at least I'm pretty sure I won't accidentally shoot backwards.

[officerhops]

[Is...is that an insult, she's not even sure.]

How could you be so sure?

That way, the culture can spread, and the farther it goes...the less likely it is to disappear.

[Lusamine's expression is gentle.]

I would like to learn about it, if you would be willing to teach me.

Because I know I can't eat animals, so animal blood should be tasteless too.

Wouldn't be the worst shot I've seen. Some of the warrior-types I hang out with -- soldiers and what not. They wouldn't be able to tell their arrow from their asshole. [He grinned.] Just be sure to take a deep breath and clear your head, alright?

That takes a strong soul to be able to do. I say from experience, believe me.

Of course. ...Now, aah, there is so much I can't do, but...at least if we record it accurately, then...

[Having someone else help with this makes it feel more real.]

...I mean, you probably just have to trace around your hand, right? Maybe make it a little bigger so it'll connect or something.

[officerhops]

Noted.

[That's probably for the best, honestly.]

Maybe I should ask the Wordsmith about this sometime. Not having means to provide for Nick and I isn't exactly fair.

[matchbreaker]

Well, like I said, I could just test a lot of these right now.

[ That's why she's putting several on the counter!! ]

[officerhops]

[That gets a little snicker out of the rabbit in spite of her best efforts.]

You got it, sir.

[And then she's lifting her bow again, aiming while trying to steady the arrow. Steady...

She pulls it back and lets it fly, this time without hesitating or thinking about it too much. The arrow sinks into the dummy, pretty low beneath the actual target, but it does make contact.]

Bigger mostly to take the seams into account. You want it to curve nicely around the fingers so you don't feel like you're sticking your hand into a bag.

[Hmm...]

Now is as good a time as any to learn how to use the machine, at least.

Yeah, I have five. So... I'm a little under halfway there now, I guess. And yeah, I drew a few, but I didn't really pay attention to see if they were still on the vending machine.

...I mean, they're probably doing alright, but it still gets my blood boiling.

[acherontiastyx]

Oh, yeah, it's great. I mean, I always like beating up on something when I'm mad, but it... helps when it's something you're intended to punch and not something that'll break.

[acherontiastyx]

Oh, yeah, we're a gang. We mostly just cause trouble and shake things up in boring, peaceful Alola, but we have our own town and everything, so we're definitely gonna go big time someday.

Yeah, that's wild. Guess it's pretty nice if someone breaks a plate, though.
