WEEK 4.

WEEK 4 Three more have died this past week. Milla Maxwell was killed for breaking a rule, Chiyuki was murdered, and you all had a hand in executing Yoshikage Kira. It seems like this isn't going to stop any time soon. How many more will join them this week? Saturday is given to regrouping and rest; on Sunday morning the clock chimes as it always has, but at least there are no bodies to find today. It seems you're safe for now. The night before wasn't necessarily a peaceful one, however; you'll probably feel a bit groggy when you wake up, and it seems you've regained something that you didn't realize you'd lost... Despite the Wordsmith's reaction to the last trial, it seems as though you've been rewarded once again for a job that was...well, it was done, even if he didn't explicitly say it was well-done. Another door has opened in that stairway, it seems, leading you further down into the building; once again, there are more rooms down there, more things to occupy yourselves with. [ Normally, Orihime would help Jasper come up with solutions; today, though, she's so rattled over Mercy's death that she can only respond with a nod. Truthfully, she isn't really processing anything.

She just wants all of this to be over.

Without a word, Orihime turns to Jasper and wraps her arms around her. ]

Please don't go, Jasper-san...

...I'm doing pretty all right, yeah. I was really messed up this weekend, but I'm not really one to stay that way too long.

And I'm not going to go on some sort of spree where I take out all the women and children or anything - Varric's already cleared that much with me.

[officerhops]

Yeah. It's going to be.

[She won't lie about that.]

But...if I'm needed, I'll investigate if...something like that happens again. I didn't ever work with forensics, but I took enough classes to have a little idea of what to be looking for, evidence wise.

[ Hmm...what about near the sewing machines, or the machines themselves? Anything off about those? ]

[officerhops]

No problem! You just tell me what to do and I'll follow. You're in charge.

[Judy chirps, flashing the dwarf a quick salute.]

Mm. Go ahead. Sorry, it's a little bit of a mess in here right now.

[Papers, papers everywhere. And junk from the vending machine, of course.]

[ Different worlds, different realities with the same outcome. Rika dies. That's--that's what she's getting from this. She wishes this weren't the case. ]

I'm so sorry.

[ What else can she say? Encourage Hanyuu to keep on fighting? Is that what she wants to hear right now? ]

I...I think--I think Hanyuu-san's courage and determination to save Rika-san is amazing. I hope you'll find the world where Rika-san is okay.

That's what I keep telling her. ...She- ...she was only ten years old and now...it's like...she's becoming an adult in a kid's body. It's starting to get disheartening, but I- I fear what would happen if she gives up.

[Could she still bring her back?]

...Sunday was worse. The weekend was shit and my dreams didn't help.

[He's still angry with Kira, and he's got some weird misplaced anger toward Chiyuki, but he's dealing with it.]

But today is less bad, yeah.

I guess either the shadow monster or the Wordsmith must have it now, if there's not... just some kind of reset button were everything's suddenly brand new again.

Oh, no, no no I wasn't implying-

[She shakes her head a little, stopping herself before she can cram her paw into her mouth.]

I'm glad to hear it. At least you've been able to keep busy, otherwise. I feel like my mind won't stop racing long enough for me to dwell on...well, anything.

This place is kind of designed like that, though - we don't get any time to really handle anything before our heads are forced down again and we're made to focus on what's going on now.

It was like that on the battlefield, too, but at least we were given a reason for why we were there.

There's only so much you can do with hardships like that. ...Or like this.

[But as long as he doesn't give up, it should be okay. Silver puts an arm around Hanyuu to try to lend her some comfort.]

That makes you incredibly tenacious, is that right? ...And adaptable. It doesn't sound like an easy feat.

[introspects]

[ She'll at least give him a small smile before turning back to Mugetsu, who's crawled his way up her shoulder. ]

Ah, Mugetsu-chan... Do you want to go back to your owner?

Yes. We must be soulmates. [ ... ] I hope he's doing okay without me.

Eh? What...what do you mean by the "Decision Game"? What did you have to do?

[ What is it with everyone here getting bad endings ]

[It...puts her secret in new context now, at least for herself. Hanyuu Furude likes that she's gotten spend more time with Rika than anyone else. What...a disgusting thing.]

Right...I guess it must be similar to that in the way that you have to focus on looking out for yourself. I've been trying to get along with people, and work with everyone, but that doesn't mean I don't think about how easily things could go wrong.

[After all, Judy is the smallest here. She might be able to fell a rhino, but if she got overpowered, she'd be done.]
