WEEK 6 With the deaths of Viktor Nikiforov, Varric Tethras, and Killia, you're down to half of your original number. There's only fifteen of you left. How much longer before your number drops again? Saturday is given to regrouping and rest; on Sunday morning the clock chimes as it always has, but at least there are no bodies to find today. It seems you're safe for now. The night before wasn't necessarily a peaceful one, however; you'll probably feel a bit groggy when you wake up, and it seems you've regained something that you didn't realize you'd lost... Of course, that doesn't mean that you've gained nothing else among the many, many losses you've faced; it seems that another floor has been made available to you for surviving another week. [ She.. she laughs at that, and swings the war hammer wide, smashing upwards into a piece of wood and sending some splinters flying. ]

[ She fetches the milk and adds some to Estelle's cup, then her own. ]

So, what're you making?

It's curry. I'm making curry.

[There's a few bowls of curry actually made, but Estelle's pushed them off to the side. They each look slightly different, like they didn't have enough of one ingredient or had too much of another.]

I tried making some, and while they taste good, they're not quite right.

Oh, like that stuff I got out of the vending machine once!

[ It'd been pretty good, so surely Estelle's will be even better. Vanille points to one of the bowls. ]

Mind if I try some?

[firstaid]

Yes, you may!

[After all, the only reason she hadn't thrown them away is because they were still good to eat. That would be quite a waste.]'

Perhaps you could help me figure out what's missing from them as a result.

[ She nods and picks up one of the bowls. She makes sure to get a little bit of everything in the spoonful she takes, and she takes a bite. ]

Hmmm... it's good, but you're right. Something's missing... let's see... [ Another bite. ] Maybe a little touch of sweetness?

[That look in her eyes... Hanyuu recognizes it. It's enough to make her freeze for a second, but-

No. If she does nothing, it will all just continue.]

Dining Room

[ You know, she can't taste, but vampires do have a keen sense of smell. And so Elda's sort of smelled more than seen someone working in the kitchen all day, every time she happens back up to her room, just next to the Foyer and thus down the hall from the kitchen. She comes in too check once or twice in the day, but she doesn't come in until a little later.

Okay a lot later.

When Estelle is sitting down to eat. And she comes bearing a ... gift?

She sets down a Blue Ram Reverse Energy Drink can she got from the vending machine and slides it over to the girl ]

Would that go with it?

[ The question, How do you keep yourself composed?, he supposed maybe he shouldn't tell her how he was this morning for quite awhile, because he wasn't very composed there either. He's never really lost anyone he loved romantically, but he's honestly putting up a front of some kind to get himself through this. He's ... not exactly pretending everything is fine, but he's trying to look forward.

Emphasis on 'trying'. ]

Ah well...I used to just take it whenever I lost someone -- at that time I could hardly do much without a human form anyway. Most of the time I was just on display, but a lot of things happened before my eyes, whether or not I was taken into battle. When you watch people kill each other in front of you, argue, backstab one another...and you can't do much other than be a witness, you do ... get used to it. Even if it's someone "important".

I did have friends, though. So, I did tell myself as long as I had someone by my side, I'd be able to get through it all.

But, now... even I still need a little help. I need to make sure I'm looking ahead, or someone is nearby. It's not easy, but it really does help if you let someone in.

[ He doesn't say that it doesn't always work. That either of them might just slip up and fuck up anyway, crashing down hard one day. Because that doesn't help, so now he'll try to bring her into a hug. ]

[Estelle nods at those words.]

Yes, it does need something to add to that sweetness. Perhaps more nutmeg.

[So add a little more of that is a go. She'll hope she'll get closer to the right taste this time.]

[She's been doing whatever she can to just... stay in her room. Though with Hanyuu, because she's comforted the other in the past, she'd feel rude to turn down her offer.]

[She ambivalently opens her door to allow the other inside. This is really hard for Estelle right now, but she's going to try.]

Well, I guess the Malie Library has a lot more books than this, but uh, it's not like I go there often.

[Well, she's sure what to expect when Elda comes into the dining room, but that certainly isn't it. She curiously stares at the drink...]

[Her voice sounds tired, but at least she sounds like she's in a lot better mood than she has been-- well, not that anyone's seen her since the trial, but yes.]

No idea! I got it out of the vending machine a while ago. Not like I can drink it.

[ So yes it's ... an energy drink that's sat in her room for a while...

Well, yeah, of course! I'm nothing if not contrarian. Come on, it's practically my title.

[ She wings the warhammer back up over her shoulders - though she stops the momentum at the top and gently balances it there. It's... heavy for her, as she is now ]

Do you relate to that title, Guzma?

[Is it trying to tell that to her? Or is he saying that he's looking for someone to help him move on? Right now, she would think she's the worst person to go through right now since comforting each other since last night has only ended in more pain.

She's not really sure what to say to him at all, because she's still lost.

Not to mention the fact that he's pulling her into a hug right now. Honestly, she doesn't resist, but she doesn't embrace him back at first. It takes her a moment to process this, but when she does, her arms tightly embrace him back and before she knows it, she starts bawling.

It isn't anything like Mikazuki has seen her heard before. Before it was crying because she was scared and terrified of her fate. Now this is all the negative emotions she's been keeping bottled up suddenly releasing themselves. She's practically wailing, and it sounds rather undignified, unlike a royal.

It's human. Sincere.

It's her true response to her dream, what's happened, being an ass to Gangrel yesterday, everything that just made this stay here a thousand times worse than it already is.]

[firstaid]

[Well, it won't hurt to try it, so open it up and take a drink of it she does.

...and it doesn't quite settle well on her tongue.]

[Someone's never had carbonated drinks before.

As for the smell, it's definitely curry! But it's sweet. There's the typical veggies, a good amount of nutmeg, and other spices, but enough of a hint of chili powder that there's probably a slight kick to it.]

[ He finds himself asking anyway... ]

[She crosses the chapel to Elda, paying little heed to the graffiti and destruction, and takes a seat near her.]

What...did you dream about, last night?

... Like spice? It smells more acidic to me, but I don't know if that's the smell of you dish overwhelming my nose.

[ Actually, the scent of the curry is sort of making her nose feel a little runny. She rubs under it, even if she's watching Estelle work on the can with fascinated eyes! ]

[Well that's pretty terrible.]

[She sounds like she genuinely means it, too.]

I... can't imagine. It's not the same thing, I know, but I've never really had a home. I'm not a Homeworld Gem, and that means I don't really belong anywhere.

I'd just returned, victorious, punishing the Brownlick household on behalf of my granddaughter. ... I conveniently did not remember what it is they've done. And at the end of it - my son pulled me aside, saying he needed to discuss something important with me.
