WEEK 6 With the deaths of Viktor Nikiforov, Varric Tethras, and Killia, you're down to half of your original number. There's only fifteen of you left. How much longer before your number drops again? Saturday is given to regrouping and rest; on Sunday morning the clock chimes as it always has, but at least there are no bodies to find today. It seems you're safe for now. The night before wasn't necessarily a peaceful one, however; you'll probably feel a bit groggy when you wake up, and it seems you've regained something that you didn't realize you'd lost... Of course, that doesn't mean that you've gained nothing else among the many, many losses you've faced; it seems that another floor has been made available to you for surviving another week. With everything that's been happening, we could use some serenity around here.

[ Elda Marker was lonely. A lone woman whose family and homeland was lost. She was saved by a man, a charming man who gave her a family, a life that she could build. That life was enough for her to be certain she could never be lonely again. And yet, here she was, world apart from them and in this month she had spent more time with the people here than she had her own grandchildren. She was lonely again.

... Hanyuu isn't precisely wrong, but Elda wouldn't frame it like that.

Elda doesn't care at all if humanity loves her. She's long ago given up on that.

But she does want to be loved by Hanyuu. ... And, if she were to examine it further, by the others here. ]

Two vials of my preferred nail polish, for one. And then dozens and dozens of unrelated items ranging from dolls of Chiyuk to a war hammer to a necklace belonging to Estelle, or a cardboard cutout of Viktor.

In truth, much of it seems fairly random.

That's what I was worried about. I was hoping there'd be some sort of pattern to what we're getting, or at the very least, a pattern to what items of our's were placed in it. But it doesn't seem to be working that way.

In terms of what I've returned... In addition to Estelle's jewelry, I also found an old drawing Orihime made. And a rock that Phi recognized as significant to her. A note book I'm certain was Kimbley's as well.

There's items of personal significance in there, obviously. But things like the cardboard cutout are useless filler, and unfortunately, that's what we seem to be getting the most of. It's like playing the lottery.

Mmmm, perhaps. Though I've found some use or enjoyment of them. I've gotten an outfit or two which nearly fit me last week.

Admittedly, I've been trying not to get too comfortable with a routine here.

But I don't mind the occasional bit of relaxation, and this is a very nice spot.

[ Elda... blushes. A lot more than she already was. Her heart is suddenly beating so fast that she doesn't even know what to do with it. Her hands are caught, and despite just giving such a grand speech - or perhaps because of it - she feels incredibly, unknowably vulnerable right now.

Still, if those items don't belong to any of us, why would he put them in there?

I suppose the answer to that could be in why we get the coins in the first place. I just see them next to my coffin, I've no idea why.

He's clearly trying to get us to use the damn thing, but it just keeps getting filled up with junk. It might just be trying to get our hopes up.

Tell me, Mr. Wayne, how many coins do you receive a week? Sportacus pointed out to me that not all of us receive them at the same rate. If it were about hope, wouldn't we all receive the same?

On average, about 2 or 3 a week.

[Bruce raises an eyebrow.]
