While the week may not have been everything that was hoped for, it hasn't been met with much tragedy, either; things have been solved, things have been found, and once again, the week has passed without interference from the executioner. Overall, it hasn't been too bad; however, that doesn't mean that things haven't been strained in some way or another – the incentive and all of the deaths you've been dealing with over the past several weeks are surely taking a toll of some sort on the group. The chimes ring out on Friday morning, as they always do; the morning is quiet, but that doesn't mean that things have been uneventful. The third floor is probably enough indication of that, actually. Don't worry, it's not like there's blood thrown around or bodies in the hallways; just the same, that doesn't mean the night passed easily for all of you. You know. [ Well, Hanyuu was taking the body. So Elda sets out to see if there's anything else amiss in the bar. Anything immediately obvious at a glance? ]

[The majority of the bar is fine, actually! Everything you're looking for can be found at the table where Vanille's body is! There are two things sitting out there - a bottle and a notebook. What do you want to look at first?]

[matchbreaker]

[ Oh good, so she can continue to hover around this body examination. Well, let's look at this notebook! Notebooks tend to be more suspicious, right? ]

[It looks like your ordinary notebook! There doesn't seem to be anything immediately off about it.

[It looks like the notebook is Vanille's! Her handwriting can be found in it anyway. Nothing written in the front is important though, but as you're flipping through you'll find a few pages ripped out and if you keep flipping, you'll find some folded pages with ripped edges shoved in the notebook.]

[ ... Dead people don't get privacy except Chiyuki so let's keep on flipping, note where the ripped pages are, and then look at the folded pages shoved in there. Anything on them? ]

[There is indeed! There are notes! They read:

Silver and Vanille's Kitchen Adventures!
- sugar cookies, but make sure to keep the stronger flavorings away for now
- pies!
- could we make a cake out of creampuffs?
- make sure he knows not to turn the temperature too high
- safety notices, perhaps a list?
- go through the uses of utensils and such, another list?
- curry (ask Estelle)

There's something a little odd about the handwriting though.]

[ Oh dear, what could be odd about it? Elda will certainly try to examine what she can without her document, but if necessary... well, she'll get it in time for the trial at least out of her room. ]

[It's definitely obvious even without the document - the handwriting here looks very close to everything else in the notebook but for some reason it's shaky-looking. There are some points where the ink has seeped through the page a bit too much and others that are incredibly light. Basically, it looks a little weird.

There's also something weird about the ripped edges...]

[ So this was being written under suspicious circumstances, maybe? She sort of looks at it from a few different angles, even turning it over to see where the ink bled through. She considers flipping through the notpad again to try to find the page the ink might've bled onto but it's at that point she notices the oddity of the edges.

What's odd there? ]

[trustwellness]

[That's just it, actually - there is no place where the ink bled through. The edges of the pages are telling the same story - they don't match the ripped pages in the notebook itself.]

[ ...!

So these are notes from an entirely different notebook, most likely? But in the same (at least at a glance) handwriting?

Just to be sure!

Either way, upon that realization she sort of flips through the notebook once more, to see if anything else will fall out or stand out. And if nothing does she's going to fold it all together and pocket it. ... Or well shove it down the top she's wearing but details ]

[That's right! There isn't anything else to note about the notebook (haha) but on the subject of note-writing... there is something kind of odd here. Or more accurately, something that should be here isn't.]

[ Oh, what is it? Is there no pen or no name or something? Or could it be even more strange? ]

[You've got it in one, there's no pen at this table. You're welcome to search the rest of the bar as well, but you won't find any pens in here.]

[ She will search the rest of the bar for it!

But first, she should probably look at that bottle, now she's noticed that there's no pen and (as per the above thread given she's right there) no blood on the table either ]

[It's a bottle of rum, exact brand doesn't matter. There's also a glass next to it, with some rum left in the bottom.]

[ huuuuh....

So it does look like someone drank some of this rum she ponders as she shakes the bottle around a little ]

[Yes it does! And while you're examining it, it's probably worth noting that nothing seems off about the rum. It's totally normal rum!]

[ . . . Well, let's set that down then and pick up the glass. Anything look or smell off there? ]

[Nope, not at all! The glass and the rum inside both seem perfectly fine as well!
