WEEK 2
Two people are gone from the group. Zagi and Kamui are dead, twenty-five of you are still alive, and the first week in the Vault comes to a close.

Saturday is given to regrouping and sleep; on Sunday morning, those klaxons are as annoying as ever but at the very least there aren't any bodies to be found. It can be assumed, perhaps, that you're safe for now. The night before wasn't necessarily a peaceful one, however; you'll probably feel a bit groggy when you wake up, and it seems you've regained something that you didn't realize you'd lost...

However, those weird dreams aren't the only new thing around here; one of the previously closed-off section near the vending machine has opened up, revealing a spiral staircase leading up to the next floor. Go ahead and explore as much as you like; consider it your reward for a job well done.

Well, we've got to amuse ourselves somehow, I guess - with things that aren't killing each other, I mean.

I'm doing fine, actually, though people tend to get a little irritated if it's said that bluntly.

I'm used to people dying a lot around me. It's not so bad after a while. I miss Zagi, because I liked him! But I'm handling the fact that he's dead well enough.

[Stan's doing pretty okay, largely due to the fact that he didn't even really know either of them, but geez at least he doesn't walk around saying so. Even he's got that much decency. Besides, no one likes to see that much death happen right in front of them.]

Maybe it's different for humans, I wouldn't know. But monsters know what they like, and the statistics speak for themselves. The bloodthirstier the broadcast, the higher my ratings.

That doesn't mean I'm going to play the game, but it is part of why I said I was considering.

...ha, I guess that detective wasn't as crazy as we all thought! That Alphys lady might not've done this, but she set up the same damn thing back home!

Oh, it's far from the same thing. What I do is nowhere this elaborate, and it's nowhere near as built around making everyone suffer. I'm not interested in trapping people and making them kill themselves and each other for my amusement.

But violence sells, and I acknowledge that. It's more like your human movies, just with no special effects.

Hey, at the end of the day, dead's dead. No one gets a free pass on murder just 'cause they were nice enough to not torture the guy first.

And at the end of the day, I make my own decisions, and I don't take orders from Dr. Alphys.

So leave her out of it, and don't try to say that she set up my shows. Credit where due.

If you don't want people talkin' about her, you should quit callin' her your creator and then braggin' about all the murder shows you put on.

What would you have me call her? She is what she is.

Her business is far more important now, well beyond just dealing with me. What she does is complicated, sweetheart, and not really anyone's business. The point is that I do what I want.

...thaaaaaat's right, you said she got picked up by the government after she made you. That actually kinda explains everything.

For everyone else's kicks, darling. It actually doesn't matter to me either way - I'd just as soon hug someone as I would harm them. If the audience wants a fluff piece, then I'll shower someone in kittens and glitter. I really don't care.

But yes, she did, and I'm well aware that it explains a lot.

[Stan stands; he's just about done with this conversation, as well as the concept of talking to Mettaton in general.]

Well, when you do decide to kill one of us, it'd be nice if you could do it quick.

Nothing he can do to me is going to make me play. If the Underground is destroyed - if my whole world is destroyed, including the humans on the surface - then I truly do have nothing to go back to.

It's a bad premise for a game like this. But as far as I can see, there's no reason to harm anyone here. So I'm going to bring everyone happiness wherever I can - because that's what I'm good for, and in this situation it's all I'm good for.

Everyone important to me is dead, darling. But you just keep thinking I'm going to murder all of you and kill everyone important to me here.
