WEEK 8.

WEEK 8 Orihime Inoue and Mikazuki Munechika are dead thanks to the Wordsmith's motive. While only two have died this past week, it feels much emptier around here now. There's only ten of you left. There's so few of you now. Saturday is given to regrouping and rest; on Sunday morning the clock chimes as it always has, but at least there are no bodies to find today. It seems you're safe for now. The night before wasn't necessarily a peaceful one, however; you'll probably feel a bit groggy when you wake up, and it seems you've regained something that you didn't realize you'd lost... Unfortunately, regardless of how well you may or may not have done this week, it seems that there's nothing else for you here. No new floors have opened up below the seventh; it looks like for now, that truly is all. Perhaps it's a good sign. Perhaps it's one of the worst yet. Only time will tell. [ You know, it was ... ] Weeks ago, you told me that you didn't understand that Alolan concept, Lusamine. Weren't you telling me is sounded silly?

[ That said, she sort of bites her lip a little at the same time. Diminishing the value of her own... Lusamine hit it on the head, basically. That said, she can't deny that they are thick as thieves, so to speak. ]

...Weeks ago, I would have done terrible things for the sake of my family. I would like to think that though I remain dedicated, my family has...expanded.

Without my intention, of course...but here we are.

[she didn't want any of this, feelings fucking suck elda]

I would still do terrible things for my family.

[ . . . But can she still say that? It's half-hearted as she says it, as if trying to prove it to herself. She had passed on so many motives before now. So... ]

I would as well. Extended family and all.

[There's...something a little unspoken there, but there's some quiet determination to the words.]

That is why we all shall escape this fate.

[ Elda's head lowers a little. Honestly, yes, perhaps things are heading in that direction. Did you think you could save them, the chalkboard had asked them? And they had responded in kind, with bluster.

Or at least she had. Hanyuu had.

Elda feared how that might well have affected Lusamine, but didn't have the heart to make it more clear.

She... brushes her hand on the other woman's arm. ]

With how things have gone, I wonder if it'll be something else entirely which ends this.

[Lusamine flinches a little bit at the contact, but...moves her hand to catch Elda's before it might leave.

That red nail polish, though chipped a little from wear and tear, is still there.]

...Then we keep hope until the end. We keep fighting for it. No matter what--if he desires to end this, then it will not be an ending satisfying to him.

Because above all else, he wants to make it terrible for us all. And that is a mindset that will destroy us.

[matchbreaker]

[ Elda actually makes to take back her hand a little bit quicker when Lusamine calls out the contact. The card game the other night had been fun, but perhaps it was too soon to consider it normal

... But...

Then her hand is caught.

She- She needs to touch up the nail polish on her friends hands but this isn't the right time. Elda-

Smiles? Smiles a little more ]

No, it really shan't be satisfying for him. Because where there is hope, there is also an abundance of sentimentality. So many of us are feeling it now, that kinship, connection. Perhaps... even love.

[ She shifts her hand a little to clasp Lusamine's. ]

I'm glad to have met you, Lusamine.

[elepe]

...As am I, Elda. No matter what happens next, meeting you has only improved my life. And you are, truthfully, my best friend.

[And that's simply that. Maybe it's full of sentimentality, but it's the right kind. More than what Lusamine could have ever expected.]

We'll give him a fight, until the end. You are still Indomitable, aren't you?

[matchbreaker]

[ And while the one hand still holds Lusamine's, the other goes to toss back her hair. Just a little, for effect.

... All the same, she does glow a little more at the words "best friend." That's... nice feeling. Very nice feeling, she decides ]

And does anything threaten an unfeeling man more than a mother, my dear Maternal?

If he doesn't, then he will learn.

[Lusamine's expression goes to a smirk when she says that--the thought of beating the Wordsmith down, beating him down, and never letting up...

It fills her with something weird. Weeks ago, she only felt this toward Nihilego.]

I...will protect all of you. And may the Tapus help him if he decides that he wants to harm a soul, for he has yet to see a mother scorned.

[matchbreaker]

Oh, certainly!

[ Elda throws back her head here, the better to do her Evil Old Lady Laugh. Perhaps the moment should be more sentimental than this but... this is fine. They are fine.

With their hands held, laughing at the Wordsmith's demise. ]
