romance and murder go so well together
[ If the colorful posters from Tuesday weren't enough, Yato has redoubled his efforts for today and slapped these up all over the place:

We are admittedly not entirely sure what the heck the catgirl is there for, but she's there. Anyway, in the dining hall this evening, Aqua and Yato have set things up for a group dinner!! All the food is being put on one table; the rest of the room is for mingling and is colorfully decorated in a way that suggests that Yato went wild in the art room at some point and decided what we all really need in our lives is more color and more glitter!!
There's also this piece of paper with everybody's names on it in pairs, and sets of questions (red tab at the bottom of the spreadsheet). That's right, your mystery game is speed-dating and Yato is here to be your cupid for the evening!! ]

Gabriel actually has a couple issues with dating people here, especially given what happened back home, but he can deal with that.
He's made vegetarian gumbo; normally gumbo is made with shrimp, and well... that sounds way too much like murder to him now, so a vegetarian version for everyone it is. It's still delicious and flavorful, but it's obvious that Gabriel is used to cooking it with a meaty protein.]

...oh well... it's probably the same as akutaq when you get down to it --- you'd feel something was off if you'd eaten it all your life, but it's still pretty great if it's new to you. So he'll get a bowl before heading over to Gabriel!]
Well, I guess this is the moment of truth, then.

I didn't exactly get a chance to put chicken or somethin' in it; wasn't sure if we had any vegetarians in our group.

...well, I do like meat, but I'm sure it's still pretty good.
[HE'LL GO AHEAD AND TRY IT, THEN! ...and think about it, because that's a pretty interesting flavor.]
...well, you have my approval.

I'm not one myself, but you never know. We've got an interestin' group here. 'sides, I figure cookin' with seafood might not make me popular.
[Sorry, shrimpdad....]
Thanks, I appreciate it. Been a while since I made a home-cooked meal.

[BUT IT FEELS SO AWKWARD WITH SHRIMPDAD HERE...]
It's really surprising how easy it feels to pick it back up, though, isn't it? Well, I'd been cooking routinely when I was back home, but it was only for breakfast.

I should try cookin' around here more. It might help people around here. It's relaxing. Might be nice to try some more food from where you're from, too.

...but really, I'll do my best. Unfortunately, a lot of the ingredients from home aren't really here, and a lot of it is, ah, fermented.
[...his expression kind of wibbles a bit into disgust when he says that, because holy shit, once he didn't actually have to eat fermented shit he stopped immediately]

[.....sounds really gross.]
Sounds like it's somethin' of an acquired taste.

...
Let's just say I was really happy to move somewhere more cosmopolitan.

Creole cookin's pretty good, but I don't know too many recipes, unfortunately. I grew up surrounded by it, but never did learn enough about cooking the food myself.
I guess movin' elsewhere would have its advantages to eat stuff from other cultures.

[he's pretty sure more delicate souls have fainted over it.]
Well, as long as you know the basics, there's nothing wrong with reasonable experimentation, right? It might not be what you remember, but it'll probably be good.

[...it's still probably better than German food, ugh.]
It's not like there's a reason not to experiment, not here, anyway. There's only so much food at any given time.

She does, on the other hand, love competition.]
Are you ready to win?
[... At least she's enjoying his gumbo stuff. It's kind of weird since she's used to having like 100% more (fish) meat in her diet, but this is fine.]
wow, I'm sorry for the delay, gmail ate this notif
...Win what?
it's okay!!
[Duh.]

It might be a bit of fun to throw my metaphorical hat in the ring, right?
It's been a while since I've done anything like this.
[Says the reformed womanizer.]

[A natural at asking people questions. And sometimes bullying them out of people.]
Okay, okay, what do you value most in friendship?
no subject
I like honest friends; the ones who are willin' to tell you off when it's needed.
