Week 5.

WEEK 5

Three more have joined the deceased this past week. Taichi Yagami was punished for breaking a rule, Megumi Sakura was killed, and Norman Bates... well, the less said about Norman, the better.

A third of you are dead now; your losses are becoming more and more evident with each passing week.

Saturday is given to regrouping and sleep; there aren't any bodies to be found on Sunday morning. But that doesn't mean the night was uneventful - it seems something else may have brought you some newfound clarity. Or perhaps not...

Once again, that spiral staircase leads farther than you remember, clear up to a previously inaccessible fifth floor. Go ahead and explore as much as you like; you'll probably need the distraction after the last trial.

I'm sure she could, if she doesn't end up breaking my legs first..!

B-but more importantly! What sort of mask are you thinking of wearing? You could make one that only covers up the side of your face, like The Phantom!

It's crossed my mind, yes! Though you'll have to tell me more about this...phantom of yours, I'm not familiar.

Oh, oh! It's the sort of show you would love, Mettaton! It's a musical about a disfigured man, but a genius, who takes up residence at the Opera House in France. And he has this secret lair and calls himself the Opera Ghost and he's always making his presence known in little ways...like, he drops the backdrop during rehearsals, and he always requests that a specific box is left open for his exclusive use.

So the only person he'll show himself to is this beautiful young woman, Christine, who recently started to make a name for herself in the operas, and he basically becomes her teacher. His singing voice is beyond compare, and his musical talent is phenomenal, but he can never show himself to anyone...even in front of Christine, he wears this white mask that covers half of his whole face. And he starts to fall in love with her, but because he's never known love before, he becomes a bit...obsessive. And when Christine finally sees him without his mask, she's horrified by how disfigured his face is and she runs away...so, of course, he feels betrayed now, and he starts to become a bit less, well, subtle! I won't spoil the rest, but it's very, very powerful!

That sounds absolutely wonderful, Misa-darling! And this is a stage show they have where you're from...?

It is! Some English guy made it and they eventually brought it over to Japan, but, it's a whole musical! They sing their hearts out on stage and it's so dramatic and intense, there's this whole scene with the chandelier and my goodness, it's breathtaking! My parents took me to see it when I was little, and I cried for days!

You have to see it with your own eyes! Misa-Misa's summary doesn't do it justice at all!
ratingspoint: (ASIDE ♥ okay but enough about you)

Maybe I'll take you with me, once all of this is over. It sounds like the sort of experience you should share with someone - all good stage shows are!

That's definitely true! You can see a show by yourself, but, the magic comes when you watch one with someone you care about! And you see their faces and you can laugh together and cry together...Misa-Misa's mama and papa, we all had a great time when we went. I'd love to go with you. Sigrun should come, too! She'd like it once the buildup starts to happen. It gets intense.

...You know, I actually wasn't sure if she'd like it or not. It doesn't seem like her thing? But I definitely trust your word on it.

I haven't seen a lot of human stage shows, unfortunately - their televised media and movies are one thing, but it's hard to get my hands on recordings of anything on a stage proper. If they're like that, though...well, I'll have to change that!

Have you not heard of Les Miserables? That's another one from the West End that made its way over to us. It's done pretty much entirely in song, but it's about France during a time of revolution. And if you can imagine a tiny group of mercenaries going up against the French government in battle, it...well, it goes pretty much as well as you would expect.

...They get absolutely curbstomped, don't they.

[THAT SOUNDS FANTASTIC]

They never stood a chance. But it's not all about them getting their butts kicked! There are other stories happening in the meantime, and they all sort of come together...that one made me cry by the end of it, too.
