Week 5.
Three more have joined the deceased this past week. Taichi Yagami was punished for breaking a rule, Megumi Sakura was killed, and Norman Bates... well, the less said about Norman, the better. A third of you are dead now; your losses are becoming more and more evident with each passing week. Saturday is given to regrouping and sleep; there aren't any bodies to be found on Sunday morning. But that doesn't mean the night was uneventful - it seems something else may have brought you some newfound clarity. Or perhaps not... Once again, that spiral staircase leads farther than you remember, clear up to a previously inaccessible fifth floor. Well, that's not bad. A place to train and practice, a sauna for relaxation, and an arcade for - more relaxation.
He'll be exploring all of the fifth floor throughout the day. He spends a goodly amount of time in the men's section of the sauna, trying to sweat out some stress. Then he checks out the arcade - nothing here is familiar to him, but he'll try his hand at a few games and probably completely suck at them. Finally, he checks out the dojo and just... pokes around a little, since he didn't bring any weapons up there and doesn't really want to go carrying any around.]

...He's a lot of things, but a sculptor apparently isn't one of them. Don't judge his lifestyle.
That said, though, there's going to be a sign that gets duct-taped up outside the dining hall at about noon; it's very sparkly and pink and requires literally no detective work to figure out who wrote it, and the writing on it is large and sweeping:
LAST WEEKEND SUCKED A LOT. SOME OF OUR DREAMS PROBABLY SUCKED TOO. BUT IF YOU'VE GOT TIME AND FRUSTRATION, I'VE GOT A SLEDGEHAMMER, A BUNCH OF OTHER HAMMERS, AND A LOT OF BREAKABLE THINGS. OR PROVIDE YOUR OWN! WHATEVER, IT DOESN'T REALLY MATTER.
JUST COME GET CATHARSIS - AND REMEMBER, IT'S BETTER TO BREAK CERAMICS THAN EACH OTHER'S FACES!!
...Don't worry, he hasn't repurposed the entire room, just about half of it; the tables have just been moved a bit to clear space, if you actually want to eat in there (for god only knows what reason). Mettaton himself can be found sitting on one of the tables, as he usually is, leg crossed idly at the knee and one of those sledgehammers from the machine sitting on the chair next to his legs, handle propped up against the edge of the table. He's also got a bunch of smaller hammers from storage set out on the table next to him, along with those...entirely too many large ceramic bricks, and also a bunch of the dish sets and glassware that aren't commonly used from the kitchen. (So don't worry, he's probably left your favorites alone, those of you that tend to think that certain plates and cups are just better for whatever reason.)
He can actually be found in here for most of the day; usually he's just kind of chilling, though once in a while he's going to be having a go at the stupid ceramic bricks because someone's gotta and he's got entirely too much energy to vent out one way or another.]

Bruce wakes up bright and early, and his first stop is at the kitchen. There he spends some time making eggnog for all the people with their possible hangovers, and when he's done he leaves them all out in the dining hall with a note placed near the mugs:

Once that's done he makes a trip over to the vending machine, putting the coins he's gotten, not really expecting anything at all until--well. This pops out.
Bruce kind of just... holds them up and stares at them for a while after he gets them, looking pretty lost to anybody who happens to walk on this scene.
...and once he gets over his surprise he'll be in the third floor laundry room giving his Hulk pants a good wash, and as he waits he's seems to be busy drawing out something that resembles a mindmap or a timeline on his notebook. Coming close enough will see that there are names of various Earth-based places (Calcutta, New York, Malibu, Greenwich, Washington DC, Portland(?)) and some years listed as well (2012, 2013, 2014, 2015), some of them connected by arrows of some sort. There are also names listed as well, though none of them familiar to anyone here in the Vault.
Once his pants are washed and Bruce is wearing them underneath his jumpsuit, he finally goes to explore the fifth floor. Again there's really not much that interests him here... except the dojo, which he does hang around a little to give it more than a passing cursory look like what he'd usually do. Even if there's nothing, its at least a good place to meditate when he needs it. He has a feeling he might need it a lot more soon enough, if what happened down there just the other day is anything to go by.]

He's not sure why Grace would send him a lot of books on werewolves and on some German king, but after everything that's happened in this place, sure, why not. A German king was secretly a werewolf.
It almost sounds normal compared to what he's been dealing with.
After making breakfast in the kitchen, Gabriel spends the afternoon exploring the newest floor. He can be found exercising in the dojo, and later on, spending far too long in the arcade, mostly looking around to see what there is to see in here, and once in a while stopping to actually play a game.]

The words written in his envelope were true. And he knew it all along of course, because he still had that sentiment even before waking up here. But actually hearing himself say it aloud to Rosa after what he has been through here, after what the Kingmaker has claimed about their worlds since the very beginning...
He wants to be worried about what could potentially visit him in his future dreams. He wants to be concerned, and yet...

He still doesn't quite regret leading everything up to that point. That battle was truly amazing.
Colress finally emerges from his room in the late morning hours, having spent some time recovering from his dream, and the residual awful feelings from the previous few days. He spent a long time calming down in the shower, and in his post-dream haze, he forgot an important step in his shower routine. He forgot to protect his gravity-defying bang from the water like he had been so diligent about for the last few weeks! He wanted to try to keep it up as long as possible with a lack of hair gel to recreate it, and it had started to droop anyway, but... Well, he feels so weird when stops in the dining hall for breakfast with hair like this. The magic is gone for now, people.
He gets the majority of his hair to cooperate eventually though so it doesn't look like a total mess, and after breakfast, he takes to the fifth floor to explore. There are some pretty interesting things up here!
After his initial exploration, he can be found in the dojo with Klinklang, where he seems a little frustrated by what's developed since his last dream.]

[He should know all of Klinklang's moves now thanks to his dream. And he's proud of himself for the move selection! But how does Klinklang still not know Thunderbolt? Is there still more to come...?
Following the training session, Colress spends the rest of his time in...the arcade? One would think a workaholic like him wouldn't have time for games, but here he is! He's mostly just going through the selection of games to see what's available. But he does poke around in some strategy games to see if any are worth his while. At least these are a good way to give his brain some exercise. And lord knows he'll take any distraction he can get at this point.]

For a few minutes, at least. The dream... memory... thing he has ensures that he won't actually be getting any more sleep that night. So... that was it, huh? It was over. He didn't know how it had ended, given that he still had some memories missing between this one and the last... but even if he managed to get away from the Equalists, he was done.
...there was something else bothering him --- maybe the week of reflection had numbed him to the possibility that his life was ruined and... other things, but... something about the feeling of having his bending taken...
...he paced outside of the kitchen as he waited for it to open in the morning. He hadn't really even bothered to put his hair up in any way, since he was essentially on autopilot at this point and having it get in his face didn't actually matter. It was easier to focus on this than the soul-crushing reality of everything else, since it was something to work towards.
That, and if he didn't figure it out, he would probably lose his mind. At least he had his sanity right now... but being distracted when he was making breakfast wasn't a good thing, considering he cut one his fingers while chopping scallions for some soup, because of course he would. Now he had to go through all the hassle of trying not to bleed all over everything, because he couldn't just-- wait. No. He figured it out. Where he recognized that from. That...
"You fool! You've never faced bending like this before!"
Well, that was right, wasn't it.
He stares at his cut finger for a few seconds. Then he starts... laughing? That might be laughter.
...right, he should probably go somewhere else after that. Maybe he'll do the shitty Vault equivalent of retail therapy at the vending machine to try and keep his existential crisis from getting even worse. Except it's weapons, because of course it is. And... a thong and a mascot costume. And some potato chips and a bad outfit. He's... staring at some weird steampunk-y looking glove that has some sort of weird device built into the palm like it told him his grandma died, though...
...there's a new floor. what the fuck is an arcade. what are these strange glowing machines. Will they provide answers to why his life has become such an unmanageable mess? No, the mess was inside him all along. The blinking lights are kind of distracting him from that, though.
Oh, good, there is a sauna he can wish he could just melt in. Maybe he'll spend the evening doing that.

[It's funny. He doesn't feel all that heroic right now.
Sunday morning after breakfast, Stan slips briefly into Room 19. He's only in there for a few minutes, and afterwards he heads upstairs to the chapel. This seems like a much better place for a memorial anyway - he sets down the Cherry Blossom Bouquet he retrieved from Megumi's things by her portrait.
For a while, he sits on one of the front pews and looks thoughtfully at the memorial. So many people already. That's gotta be what, a third of them? He's almost shocked that he's still alive. You'd think someone would've at least tried by now, especially with his luck.
But life goes on. Eventually he wanders down to the vending machine. Nothing too special today, though he does linger there for a little while trying to bend a kink out of a mysterious old key.
Once he finally ventures upstairs, he spends a while checking out the sauna. It looks pretty nice. But today he feels like he'd rather try to keep himself busy. So the library it is. Thinking about Ford so much, he guesses he never really did look around the place the way he should've - the way his brother would have. So he begins a rather more methodical search through the books, looking for any weird ones. Maybe if the Kingmaker did this before, someone would have wrote in one of them?
If they did, it'd better not be in fucking code again.]

That... was a weird dream - not the worst he's had yet, but it's surely going to make him wake up in a cold sweat all the same.
He pulls himself into the kitchen, first thing in the morning to throw together some sort of sandwich. He's being rather quiet today. Late-night bartending seems to leave you with a bad headache. Who knew.
The upper floors are where he's going to be for the rest of the day, though not only the newest one. Speedwagon spends some time in the chapel on the fourth floor - seated in one of the pews, eyes shut and hands clasped together. It's difficult to tell whether he's praying or simply deep in thought.
Maybe both?
When that relatively minor detour's over, the last stop for the rest of today was the fifth floor. Everything's going to receive at least a cursory investigation, while the arcade leaves him wandering around in abject confusion for a short while. The whole thing was just so... bright. He's completely out of his element and by god does it show.
....Oh, there's a sauna. Expensive-looking at that. Where does the Kingmaker keep getting these things- questions aside, he'll poke around a bit before spending a while in the men's section of the sauna. Yesterday still weighed heavily on his mind, so maybe if he's in here long enough they'll just melt away.]

The stairs are just the same, and he curses under his breath at that, but instead of poking at it more goes for the new rooms. Dojos are cool. Saunas bring up awkward memories.
But holy shit he spends most of the afternoon in the arcade playing basically all the games. And, while doing so.... seeing if the games' high scores are all the generic factory names or if someone has used these machines before them]

She was half-expecting a dream, but the one she had last night...that was a lot to take in. And certainly not something she was willing to take at anything more than face value.
The others felt fairly natural, even if they were a bit jumbled around. Almost like memories that hadn't happened yet, but ones with some kind of meaning that she hadn't yet discerned...this one was a nightmare, though. If she gives it any more thought than that alone, she'll either burst into tears or punch a wall. Maybe both. So in complete and utter denial, and also because, well, she just wants to investigate the new area, she throws herself into investigating everything the fifth floor has to offer and...ah, DDR. She can work with this. She'll just play on the hardest difficulty, then, aggressively stomping on the arrows...she's throwing herself into it pretty hard, to say the least.
And, uh, well. Once she's utterly exhausted from that, at least there's a sauna she can stay in until God knows when. She's not usually one who likes to be alone with her thoughts, but, well. She's not really in the mood for being bright and cheery today. Maybe tomorrow'll be better? ]

His last day! for whoever still wanted to tag him
But the sense of relief was losing fast in combat against the growing pit his stomach. That dread was haunting him from the back of his mind, more maliciously than ever before. How were his citizens? What became of his Holiday Star?
While others would be checking around the new floor's rooms, The King seems to have only gone around its halls in silence during the morning, looking deeply into the walls as if hoping a hole would bore through them by the intensity of his gaze. This was a hope he didn't initially have on his own but, there's a definite air of disappointment that yet again, there was no window. There was however, still that familiar sheet with numbered instructions behind a glass that similarly attracted his attention. Wasn't there a surprisingly convenient way that he could return to the stars? The King hadn't admitted as such out loud, but he had already begun to wonder about it, a bit over a week ago...
He spends the afternoon back in his old room, Room 3, with its door open, but The King is keeping very quiet. Earlier on, he laid underneath his blanket, tugging the cloth into himself (an observant eye may notice he looks strangely... smaller than normal, in that lump). Then later on, with the door more shut but not completely, he seems to have made several pieces of paper his enemies: there are faint but consistent sounds of crumpling and tearing. The King taking a long time to recover after trials isn't new--what's actually more unusual is his relative activity at this moment.
Finally in the early evening, he takes the short trip back to Room 9 where he had stayed more often than his assigned place. It wasn't a place of a stranger's... no, hadn't he called its resident a friend from their very first conversation? Still, it felt only right to knock for this occasion, and he had already done it before he stopped himself--Though...
... A part of his tiny bird heart was still hoping there wouldn't be an answer. ]

ROOM 9 rip emotions
MONDAY
Retaliation.
There's less of it this time – it doesn't look like an entire human's worth, for one thing, far from. For another, it doesn't look to have been another violent explosion; this time the means of death is far more obvious, several of the pikes from the machine slammed hard and heavy into the door of one of the cabinets. They still seem to be pinning something in place there – thankfully not a person, it isn't a corpse, but rather it's a bright red cloak with trimmed in white being held in place where it's been impaled several times over. The cloak has been splashed with blood, shining dark and glossy against the fabric.
The note isn't pinned to anything this time; it's been left lying on the counter, next to a small velvety red crown that's done up with white and gold, pale feathers pinned to one edge.
The conclusion is obvious; once again, a headcount will confirm.
The King – Kazuaki Nanaki – is dead.
The note is once again brief and simple, written in the same handwriting as last time:

Monday is not.
He spends most of the morning sulking in Room 22, although the door is wide open so it's clear he doesn't mind company. He's just sitting on his bed with his arms around his knees and his face hidden, silent.
When he does leave, he heads straight for the dining room, hoping that there's at least something left over from Mettaton's smashing session yesterday so that he doesn't have to get anything from the kitchen. Finding at least a couple pieces of tableware left, he grabs a hammer and gets to demolishing them.
After that, the only thing he can think of to do is head to the art room. The King loved pictures of the night sky, so that's what Cherryblod tries to paint. He's not very good at it, but they're at least recognizable as 'night sky' paintings, so it's something.
He wishes he could say more than 'it's something'.]

--but he makes sure to keep the cloak and the crown with him. They're still bloodied and Bruce doesn't think he can bear to keep seeing that, so once he's done with his attempt of cleaning up as much as possible he's at the first floor laundry room washing the bloodstains off the cloak and crown. The machine would probably ruin them, after all, and Bruce... he needs the manual labor right now. To keep his mind occupied.
By lunchtime there's a familiar notice duct-taped at the bulletin board, but rather than the usual tone its much more to the point:]

[Somebody clearly isn't in a good mood.
For pretty much the rest of the afternnon Bruce can be found alternating between the kitchen and the first floor laundry room, doing multiple washes of the King's bloodstained attire that had been left behind as he makes the dinner that would be served later. He's... pretty damn quiet as he works this time - not that its unusual, but there's a notable tension in his silence this time.
At 7 PM there's a good number of meals set out for everyone who comes to the dining hall for the weekly meeting - vegetarian and non-vegetarian fare. It's a mix of cuisine from parts of the world, so everybody gets a bit of something. Bruce gives everyone time to take their food, although he has none for himself; once everyone is settled he opens up his Ubiquitous Notebook and speaks:]

[Just like two weeks ago his tone has gone back to being clipped and formal--brusque and straight to the point. His expression gives off nothing, but from time to time his fists would clench and there would be a twitch of his jaw as the meeting continues. Although he does join in with the conversations, even if his usual polite demeanor is a bit... lacking.
After the meeting Bruce remains in the dining hall, continuing to write in his notebook of all the things that had been discussed in the meeting prior. King's crown and cloak are also beside him now, along with some crumpled scraps of paper that certainly hadn't been around in the meeting earlier.
Sleep this time is impossible to come to him; nighttime has Bruce at the incinerator room, sitting on a chair he had dragged in as he stares at Stan's punching bag, looking as if he's heavily debating something.]

THERE'S... A LITTLE INVESTIGATION HERE...
Black's around a few places for minor things: the chapel to set stuffed animals by their appropriate portraits (of the people they do have, at least) and say a short prayer for them and the King, the bar to grab two more bottles of scotch-or-something-close-enough-to-it-that-he-can-just-call-it-scotch, the game room to give his prayers to Yato's shrine as well, the sewing room and art storage to pick up some more supplies...
But when he's through with errands, there's three places he can be found that he won't be leaving in short order, at least until the meeting:
The arcade, because he's a responsible adult who likes watching people play games and... look, he won't turn down being challenged. Unless it's to DDR. He is very aware of his coordination skills and they are nothing to boast about, thank you. ...he also has water for people who have been dancing long enough to warrant it, congratulations.
The library, because he's been slacking on his reading and... he's looking for more. He'll be picking up a few useful-looking instruction manuals too and skimming through them, humming softly. And no, there are not like, piles of them everywhere. Don't worry. All but one of those are going to get squirreled away in his room, and that last one...
...will be joining him in the music room. It's to help him learn to play piano, shut up. Scales and stuff.

The trial had been taxing enough, and it still makes her uncomfortable to think about it. Everything's happened so quickly, so rapidly, and it's enough to make anyone's head spin. Norman had seemed so unassuming...
Then there had been the not-dream she'd had (which explains a lot, actually; why her clothes were so damaged when she arrived here, that "dream" about being in the realm of darkness, carrying Eraqus's Keyblade... the pieces all fit together now, and to be honest, Aqua's more angry than anything. Angry at herself--for being unable to save her friends, for falling for Xehanort's... well, everything.
And then the bloodbath she'd seen. It had been bad enough that Taichi had been punished for falling asleep outside his room (she still hates it and it's just proof of how unhinged their captor is, as far as she's concerned) but...
... She spends some time in the kitchen, as is her habit now. Aqua is a little less enthusiastic; her mouth is set in a hard line and sometimes she grabs something a little too roughly.
She ends up in the sauna a little later at night, mostly to clear her head. It at least allows her to think a little bit. Finally, after her trip to the sauna, Aqua takes to walking around the hallways--she can't sit still because the memory of Terra's hand around her throat is still so real. It's probably that she doesn't want to see that image when she closes her eyes.
Aqua does eventually retreat to room 15, where she's again working on a puzzle. There are even some board games, like Monopoly. Right now, she could use the company. ]

I'm sure you all remember how time isn't a problem for me; I've told you guys that before. And we all have things on our conscience that we'd like to fix – one thing that we'd like to undo or take back, something that weighs on our minds.
What would you do if you had the opportunity to change whatever happened?
Would you clear your conscience? Would you ensure that someone lived out their life instead of having it cut short? Would you try save someone? Would you try to save everyone?

If only it was that easy.
Having spent the entire night at the incinerator room venting out all his frustrations on Stan's now thoroughly abused punching bag, Bruce feels... slightly better. Nowhere near the 100% he usually is, but enough that he probably won't go snapping at people again unless they decide to press the right buttons.
He's way too wired to really sleep even with how much he exhausted himself all night, so Bruce just throws himself to anything he can do to keep his mind occupied. He spends some time in the kitchen after lunch to food for dinner later for anybody who wants it later - and once the food is cooked he brings them out to the dining hall and leaves it there with a brief note detailing what each dish is and that they're free to take whatever they want. He also sticks around there for a while to do the initial draft of the weekly meeting's summary so that he can pass it to Black for him to copy.
After that he's over in the sewing room, trying to get back to making that t-shirt he had been working on for a while now already - but when he gets frustrated enough over his lack of progress due to his state of mind Bruce puts it aside and decides to take a closer look around the room. After all they had decided to give this whole place a once-over, so while he is in here he might as well do it.
Then at nighttime he's in the art room, attempting to make the same bricks that Mettaton had made for everyone to smash back on Sunday. Bruce doesn't know if he wants to do it still, but the idea to break something is.... more tempting that he would like to admit.]
