Week 5.

WEEK 5 Three more have joined the deceased this past week. Taichi Yagami was punished for breaking a rule, Megumi Sakura was killed, and Norman Bates... well, the less said about Norman, the better. A third of you are dead now; your losses are becoming more and more evident with each passing week. Saturday is given to regrouping and sleep; there aren't any bodies to be found on Sunday morning. But that doesn't mean the night was uneventful - it seems something else may have brought you some newfound clarity. Or perhaps not... Once again, that spiral staircase leads farther than you remember, clear up to a previously inaccessible fifth floor. [ He knows for a fact Yosuke would--they talked about it. Along with how neither of them are into the "dating in a murdervault" thing. ]

Mm, I don't know if that'd be the kind of prayer Fumus would answer. Feels a bit self-centered.

Then again, I don't really know much about what prayers he answers.

Then it wouldn't hurt to try, right? And even if Fumus didn't, maybe another god would.

True. Between all of us, there's bound to be at least a few gods who might hear our prayers. Besides Yato.

Exactly. [ ... ] Selfish prayers aren't the end-all be-all of anything either. It's okay to be selfish once in a while and to ask for selfish things--it isn't like you're asking for a reward for being good or anything, it's just asking for help to make sure things don't... you know. Go south.

If I asked for a reward for being good, I know that'd be rejected instantaneously. But I'll consider being a bit more selfish next time.

Good. It's not entirely selfish if you're thinking of others along with it either. [ how to cheat at religion, apparently, thanks black ]

If it really would trouble everyone else that much, I guess I have no choice but to survive and make it out of here.

[ As long as you're doing it for the good of the people, it isn't morally wrong (this changes based on people's perception but you can make a pretty good case). ]

Do you really think that it wouldn't trouble anyone?

[ ...he's asking for the sake of asking, and because he. sort of thinks nothing of value would be lost if he died. not that he's going to, because he has his sister to get back to, but not the emotionally incompetent point here. ]

No, I know it would. May not agree with them about my own worth, but I'm aware that if I died people would be upset.

What you might've done in the past doesn't define who you are now, Mr. Cherryblod. I think you should think more highly of yourself. [ He... doesn't know any details, but this is a generally good thought to have. ] Especially since you, Misa, Mettaton, and Miss Sigrun are the main morale boosters around here. I'm sure spirits would've tanked sooner if not for the four of you.

Mm, I wonder. Surely there's a point past which you can't be forgiven?

[He's killed a hell of a lot of people, Black. A hell of a lot.]

I do my best, but even so, that doesn't completely make up for the things I've done.

I'm not sure myself. If you're a good enough person and you keep trying to be a good person, and you don't go back on that... maybe? It doesn't have to make up for what you've done—I feel like being able to own up to that and acknowledging it wasn't really the best thing to do is enough. [ But Black is also the guy who just advised you that "it isn't really selfish if you think of other people while you ask for it" so uh, y'know. ]

[He's tempted to reach over and muss with his hair, but that's Sigrun's job, probably.]

[ He's too old for that! ...but it is her job, yes. Black wouldn't complain if Cherryblod decided to do it, though. ]

It's nothing. [ Really. ] There are some people in this world that don't deserve to think less of themselves, and you're one of them.

I'm aware of that, but from what I do know about you, you don't deserve it. [ ...so there.

He should feel worse about having his words turned against him (since he's mentioned the same thing to Yosuke before about other people) but. He's not. ]

[ He'll be embarrassed, but he'll take it. Sometimes the older folks in the League do the same thing, and it's oddly comforting in its familiarity. ]

I'm not a kid, Mr. Cherryblod. [ He doesn't sound all pouty either, it's just a thing to say. ]

I am twenty-five times your age, Black. I can ruffle your hair if I want to.
