Week 5.

WEEK 5 Three more have joined the deceased this past week. Taichi Yagami was punished for breaking a rule, Megumi Sakura was killed, and Norman Bates... well, the less said about Norman, the better. A third of you are dead now; your losses are becoming more and more evident with each passing week. Saturday is given to regrouping and sleep; there aren't any bodies to be found on Sunday morning. But that doesn't mean the night was uneventful - it seems something else may have brought you some newfound clarity. Or perhaps not... Once again, that spiral staircase leads farther than you remember, clear up to a previously inaccessible fifth floor. [Bruce is immediately looking through it as thoroughly as he can - just as Stan said a lot is missing and even Bruce doesn't have the knowledge to make a portal-making machine - Loki and Selvig had been one thing, but this is...]

Perhaps--if we have the complete plans...

[Brief pause. And then realizing that Stan may not know...]

My field of specialization happens to be in radiation.

That's useful! Makin' it run on that stuff was pretty dumb to begin with.

Not to mention dangerous.

Bruce's expression says as much, too.]

[You're a jerk with a massive research grant who doesn't know how to rob secure government facilities?]

Great! I've had just about enough of all this mad science crap. [Stan peers over the blueprints again. They'd be better off if they had one of the other journals; this is the one he's basically memorized.] I'll let ya know if I find any more of this. I might remember some of how it goes together, but it's too dangerous to half-ass it.

[Bruce only blinks once about the 'mad science crap' comment, although he quickly focuses back on the matter at hand and nods to Stan's words.]

My best knowledge with inter-dimensional travel is on the theoretical level at best, so it would be more favorable to have as much information to work with as possible.

I'll write down what I remember and get it to ya.

...oh, yeah, and fair warning: there's apparently invisible notes in there sayin' it'll destroy the world? But I've seen it work twice and it didn't do that, so who the hell knows.

[Bruce looks pretty uncertain when Stan gives that warning. ...he supposes messing with--inter-dimensional barriers (?) can be rather dangerous, but ending the world was...

He supposes he'll see for himself when he gets to it.]

I'll be sure to look into it.

[And he will be very careful, of course.]

[Stan shrugs; he doesn't seem concerned. He's seen the portal work too many times without an apocalypse to worry about it. It does kinda cause chaos, but the gravity stuff is small beans compared to getting home.]

The guy who wrote 'em was gettin' pretty damn paranoid at the time. Could be nothing.

It's still better to be safe. We are in another world, after all--what works in our own worlds may not apply in the same way here.
