Week 5.

WEEK 5 Three more have joined the deceased this past week. Taichi Yagami was punished for breaking a rule, Megumi Sakura was killed, and Norman Bates... well, the less said about Norman, the better. A third of you are dead now; your losses are becoming more and more evident with each passing week. Saturday is given to regrouping and sleep; there aren't any bodies to be found on Sunday morning. But that doesn't mean the night was uneventful - it seems something else may have brought you some newfound clarity. Or perhaps not... Once again, that spiral staircase leads farther than you remember, clear up to a previously inaccessible fifth floor. THERE'S... A LITTLE INVESTIGATION HERE...

[ ...Well, there essentially goes his appetite. He's sure no one will chide him for skipping breakfast today.

Black's around a few places for minor things: the chapel to set stuffed animals by their appropriate portraits (of the people they do have, at least) and say a short prayer for them and the King, the bar to grab two more bottles of scotch-or-something-close-enough-to-it-that-he-can-just-call-it-scotch, the game room to give his prayers to Yato's shrine as well, the sewing room and art storage to pick up some more supplies...

But when he's through with errands, there's three places he can be found that he won't be leaving in short order, at least until the meeting:

The arcade, because he's a responsible adult who likes watching people play games and... look, he won't turn down being challenged. Unless it's to DDR. He is very aware of his coordination skills and they are nothing to boast about, thank you. ...he also has water for people who have been dancing long enough to warrant it, congratulations.

The library, because he's been slacking on his reading and... he's looking for more. He'll be picking up a few useful-looking instruction manuals too and skimming through them, humming softly. And no, there are not like, piles of them everywhere. Don't worry. All but one of those are going to get squirreled away in his room, and that last one...

...will be joining him in the music room. It's to help him learn to play piano, shut up. Scales and stuff.

And, well, it won't help him with taking a good look around the place, but it's trying its best. Since he's around the piano, he's just gonna start investigating there--more specifically, he's checking if the piano stool bench is one of those ones that open up. Just like with real fancy pianos. ]

[ Hell to the yeah we are. What's in there, friend mods? ]

[It looks like there's a bunch of sheet music kept in here, actually. Actual scores, nothing handwritten or personally-composed.]

[ Oh, that's cool, he'll have something to play if he ever learns how...

...and just to be safe, are they any famous composers? Like Bach or Beethoven or Mozart. People like that. Or are they a lot like the books, where it's like, close but no cigar on the authors? ]

[There's a lot of close but no cigar in here, unfortunately.

That said, though, there are some notations penciled into some of the music.]

[ Tbh a world without Wagner is one I can live with.

Are these normal musical notations (like piano, forte, etc etc sometimes they're in English sometimes not) or are they something else? ]

[trustharder]

[They're handwritten! Mostly reminders for the person playing the piece. You know, screaming reminders that there's an upcoming key change, a few sections circled half a dozen times because WHY, things like that. They're neatly-written, just very obviously signs that someone Was Not Getting It despite multiple playthroughs.

One of the selections (judging by name, it's by some probably-dead not-German guy who was most definitely named Johann, because almost all fucking composers are named Johann for some reason) has what looks like complete sentences very lightly written across the top of the first page, though. Fairly easy to miss, but there.]

[ ...god he feels like he's being screamed at, thanks reminders. he won't forget that key change. or the fact you gotta bang it like your lover's on the keys--

oh, that's a good catch. here's hoping they're in a language that isn't long-since dead, because he lost his latin translating demon apparently. can they be read and if so, what secrets do they get to spill? ]

[They can, in fact, be read. The sentences are as follows, separated out a little bit space-wise:

You're being watched.


...That's happy! And probably not very comforting.]

[ ...NO, NO IT'S NOT...

a quick glance over his shoulder--brrrr--and he'll set aside that selection. anything else in this stool aside from sheet music? any engraved words, anything love letters, anything at all?

...look if you thought some creepy note was gonna stop him you're gonna have to do better than that. ]

[Unfortunately, that's all we've got here - if there are any sordid love letters in here one of your fellow Survivors put them there, so...]

[ ...there's not any because no one here except the robot and the Norwegian are in love and neither of them are the sordid love type.

okay! ...not quite done, but almost. is there anything interesting in the piano? can't be too thorough. ]

Arcade

[There's clearly someone already in here. Both from the DDR machine music going (well, music outside the game's constant demo) and from the sound of feet moving over the platform.

In fact, stomping on the platform- not the usual taptaptapthumpthumpthump of skilled players bouncing around on the balls of their feet. More like someone trying to stomp some kinda pest- just to a beat]

[ He wasn't aware they had pests. ... or that someone would be going so hard on one of these poor machines.

Might as well toss them some water. Well, not literally toss them water, we're not here for mermaid round 2-- ]

[It's probably not surprising that it's Yosuke. But he doesn't exactly look like he's having fun- not mad either, but focused, face screwed up in concentration. He has his arms braced behind him on the backbar, jabbing his feet out at the buttons. It's not very dance-like at all, more like an attack.

When the song ends he turns, and gives Black a slightly strained smile. He's sweating buckets, shirt stuck to his chest and back, and hair limp and dark]

Hey man, didn't hear you come in.

[penduli]

[ haha does yosuke really need this water or can he keep it--

no, please, just. take this bottled water that he's holding out. ]

I'm not surprised. You were going pretty hard. [ ...he can wager a guess why because it's not particularly hard to guess why anyone is upset today but uh. yeah. ] I'm surprised you didn't break it.

[garudynamic]

[He takes it and chugs it down, then splashes some into his hand to slick his hair out of his face cuz ew, it's gross.]

Wasn't from lack of trying. These things are pretty sturdy though.

[ What's gross is using perfectly good water to ruin a young man's life.

...at least Black has the option of just not looking at Yosuke. That's always a fine option. ]

There's no one who can fix them here if they break, though, and I doubt that the Kingmaker's going to give us new toys. [ ...he really doubts he'd give them new anything unless it was part of the crime scene.

The bar's piano is back, after all. Somehow. ]

I'd probably need a hundred more pounds to do any real damage. But I'll be careful.

[penduli]

There's no one who can fix you either, so don't push yourself.

[ That's more important, actually. ]

[garudynamic]

Aww... you worried about me? I just needed to burn some energy... you know, after that.

[penduli]

I'm always worried about you. [ ...he's joking, he's not always worried about Yosuke.

But right now? A little. And even if it's clear he's joking, there's a note of actual genuine concern over here. ] Take a break with me? We can play something together.

[garudynamic]

[Aww, that gets a less strained look out of him]

Sure! Got anything in mind?

[ he wouldn't ask yosuke out I'd he has no idea what to do. he's very prepared with the only arcade game he's good at-- ]

Air hockey? I always found it fun.
