Week 5.

WEEK 5 Three more have joined the deceased this past week. Taichi Yagami was punished for breaking a rule, Megumi Sakura was killed, and Norman Bates... well, the less said about Norman, the better. A third of you are dead now; your losses are becoming more and more evident with each passing week. Saturday is given to regrouping and sleep; there aren't any bodies to be found on Sunday morning. But that doesn't mean the night was uneventful - it seems something else may have brought you some newfound clarity. Or perhaps not... Once again, that spiral staircase leads farther than you remember, clear up to a previously inaccessible fifth floor. Hard to imagine how people enjoy these so much, to be honest.

Dunno, really. They're pretty fun, though I don't know how kids spend all day in the arcade. Seems a little extreme.

[He grins in return. Alright, come and get it, "space invaders".

Feels a bit like a dream. Some kind of flashy wonder from the future, eh?

[He gives Gabriel a light shrug.] Though that might just be me.

I can't blame you for that. This is all pretty new to you.

They're pretty fun, in my opinion. Don't play them too often or anything, but I've been in an arcade enough to know the ropes.

At least we don't have to pay anything here.

You have to pay to use these things? [Oh, whoops it's getting a bit faster. He's got to put his focus on this now.]

Around the time we first got here... I seem to recall miss Lynne talking to me about "cars". And then there's the "internet" and now this... Seems like there's way more out there in your times then I can imagine.

Technology changes fast in the time I'm from, it's true. The world Bruce talks about isn't one that sounds familiar to me at all, and he's only from a little over ten years ahead of me.

Well with such wonders as everything they've been going on about for a while now -- get that last one, blast -- I'd wager that there's far more then they're even letting on about around us.

[He's working his way down to about half the ships. For someone that's never actually played a game before, he's got amazing coordination.]

All that 'internet' and such? Ever heard of that?

Probably.

A lot of it just seems mundane to 'em, I'm sure.

[At that question.]

I've heard of it. I know it was invented by the military, but not much more than that.

Military. Now that's just something, seeing as they're still waving around rifles and canons wherever they go.

[The ships are... going a fair bit faster. Oh no.]

Guess some of them don't know how lucky they are to have all of that, do they?

It was meant to be a way for different organizations in America to speak with each other, I believe.

No, you're right. Most people don't have a clue.

I guess I'll always be holding up the rear. I'm hardly anything helpful when it comes to those cases.

Nah, don't say that. It's not like I've been much use, either.

Suppose we could both do a bit more around here, huh?

Sounds like a good idea to me.

I used to be good at pokin' around and findin' things, but it's a bit harder in a situation like this.
