WEEK 5
Three more have joined the deceased this past week. Taichi Yagami was punished for breaking a rule, Megumi Sakura was killed, and Norman Bates... well, the less said about Norman, the better.

A third of you are dead now; your losses are becoming more and more evident with each passing week.

Saturday is given to regrouping and sleep; there aren't any bodies to be found on Sunday morning. But that doesn't mean the night was uneventful - it seems something else may have brought you some newfound clarity. Or perhaps not...

Once again, that spiral staircase leads farther than you remember, clear up to a previously inaccessible fifth floor. Go ahead and explore as much as you like; you'll probably need the distraction after the last trial.

Well, okay then. So I'm like a well-spoken toddler.

As is pretty much anyone else here. You know, you're like the oldest person left now, so what's it like being surrounded by babies?

I forget about it, honestly. Unless I mention someone's age in conversation and then have to translate it to human terms, I don't usually think about how young you really are.

You're certainly more capable than any toddler I know.

I'm more capable than a lot of people I know in general, old timer. The best baby out of all the babies.

[Sigrun, don't be proud of that. You'd simply be a less smelly baby.]

I'd be thinking about it all the time though. I mean, even now, I remember just how young some of these people are sometimes and thinking about what kids they are! They're all adults, obviously, but you know? They're just kids to me. Been a while since I was some of their ages.

Sometimes it comes up when I'm trying not to fuss over you all too much. Just because I'm older doesn't necessarily mean I'm more mature or capable, but I try.

[Sigrun isn't sure if she likes the sound of that enough to accept it, so she just gives him a frown and steals more food from him. Punishment. As freely as she's allowed to take it.]

Next to me, you might be the most capable person here though. Who isn't willing to throw themselves into being the victim anyway. And even I'm that way, I guess, so maybe you are the most capable one?

[Maybe. Huh. If she dies, then would Cherry be a good replacement? A group effort still sounds best to her, but Cherry could quell anything easy enough with that dad look of his...]

If you're considering me for leadership positions, please don't. I'd make a terrible leader.

Don't read my mind. That's a total invasion of privacy. Why do you think so though?

Sorry, sorry. It's just what I'd do in your position, if I was the leader without a clear chain of command.

But you know that I play favorites, and leaders shouldn't do that. I'm too emotional and hardheaded when certain buttons are pushed - I might have been able to keep myself from wringing someone's neck during the last trial, but that's not a guarantee for the future if things get worse. The respect I have here is too reliant on a secret - besides the person who already knows and despises me, if I was leader and they found out, that'd ruin all of my credibility as someone who doesn't want anyone else here to die.

It's too risky. There's someone better, I'm sure.

I might not have a secret the same as yours [though she feels like hers is a heavy one to carry anyway, even if it'll pass through to a bathroom soon enough,] but I'm the paragon of leadership otherwise, every emotional and hardheaded and stubborn piece of me.

And like I said: your past is the past. You don't want anyone to die now, not even whoever it is that hates you for your secret, right? Playing favorites is... a normal person thing, or so I'm told.

Mm, but I wouldn't feel right just taking your role up without any discussion. Don't think I'd manage as well as you would. I'll do what I can, if it comes to that, but I'd rather put it to a vote or something.

No one's going to manage as good as I do. That's just fact. I'm the best of the best, no one could possibly do better, and there will be a grand celebration at my passing if there is one. I won't stand for any of this quiet mourning stuff.

I talked about it with the doctor anyway. I figure that if anything happens to me, you all should come together as a group and not just rely on one person or plan on how to deal with this stuff. There's always gotta be someone who's gonna have to do what I've done in the past and step up, sure, but I'm positive there's a few people who'll cut an arm if they need to. Otherwise...

You all just fill in each other's weakness. And then you'll probably be someone half as good as I am. I'm not looking to die anytime soon, but it's good to keep in mind just in case. Got all that?

[He smiles fondly.] If you do pass, we'll break into the best of the alcohol and get drunk telling stories of how amazing you were.

[She grins in reply, though a yawn breaks it and she pats around on her person for something.]

Glad to hear it, that's what I'm talking about. [-- Ah, here it is, a flask. She may be keeping these on her now.] Don't let that stupid robot be by himself either. He's got a bad habit of just shutting off and not wanting to talk about shit, as you know, so he should be the one that's partying about me most of all.

Can't exactly make him get drunk with us, but I'll make sure he parties and doesn't close himself off too much.
