Week 5.

WEEK 5 Three more have joined the deceased this past week. Taichi Yagami was punished for breaking a rule, Megumi Sakura was killed, and Norman Bates... well, the less said about Norman, the better. A third of you are dead now; your losses are becoming more and more evident with each passing week. Saturday is given to regrouping and sleep; there aren't any bodies to be found on Sunday morning. But that doesn't mean the night was uneventful - it seems something else may have brought you some newfound clarity. Or perhaps not... Once again, that spiral staircase leads farther than you remember, clear up to a previously inaccessible fifth floor. I don't know why I thought you wouldn't have employees. You seem used to always being right.

[Though, the way she says it isn't in a bad way. The distrustful cat is getting ignored for Mettaton's creator, Sigrun just tilting her head a little at her.]

I have a lot of them, actually! I have my own resort and things like that - I can't keep everything running by myself, though I do as much of it as I can. I'm pretty good, but there are only so many hours in the day.

[He's noticed the interest in Alphys, though he doesn't seem inclined to address it just yet.]

[She's mostly amazed that a tiny nerd managed to create two different bodies for a primadonna. There's a question to go along with it, but she'll get to that.]

It's funny to hear you say that when one, you don't sleep, and two, there's no night or day where you live. What's a resort?

In a way it's like what we have here - there are rooms you can rent to stay in for the night, and there are things to do for your own amusement - only it's a lot nicer and better-decorated, and you can leave anytime you like. And there's usually less murder. People stay there when they're traveling, or sometimes just to not be...wherever it is they're living. Like a vacation.

My vacation usually includes murdering things still, but I know that's not for everyone. It definitely sounds like the kind of place you'd own though, since it sounds like it distracts people the way you do.

[Or want to do, anyway. His job and all.]

And it's in the really hot place? Not a place I'd visit myself, sorry, no business from me. I'll stick to my chilly lands.

Well, that's where most of our technology is nowadays - that, and the source of most of the Underground's energy. I wasn't used to it either, when I first showed up, but it's not so bad after a while.

Juuust like Iceland. [Hotland. Iceland. Their worlds aren't so different.] Which, despite its name, isn't made of ice. It is cold though. I've visited when I was younger and it was pretty boring, not enough happening for my tastes.

Really on top of pretty much everything I don't care about though, and it's where my current mission came from.

...Why would they name it that if it's not?

[...Mettaton, that is not...nearly the point - but that's apparently what he's going to focus on for the time being.]

Because the oldworlders are stupid. I mean, there's ice around it, but it's nothing like your Waterfall.

[Sigrun, you would be so surprised to learn that it was a Norwegian who named it.]

If it were up to me, I would've called it something like... I don't know, Rock Isle. Because it's really rocky.

...It's better than anything Asgore would have named it, anyway.

He would've just called it "Island", wouldn't he.

Hotland would be Lava if it was up to him. What do you think he would've called Waterfall and the snowy place?

..."Waterfall" is actually almost completely accurate, so he'd probably leave that one alone.

The snowy place is the only place we have forests, so it would be something to do with that, I'm sure.

[This is, but she's clearly enjoying herself with the stupid snorts she has.]

At least they're easy to remember. You have your Forests, your Waterfalls, your Home, your New Home, and your Lava. [Pfft.]

If you hadn't told me it was your grand leader who'd named some of these, I would've thought a child did. It's not like "Hotland" is the most creative thing either.

He's so terrible at it that our history books make note of it. When your written history needs to apologize for your ruler's poor naming skills...

And yet not one of you can bear to try and change it. Now, isn't that just your faults for not trying to get a new trend going?

[Sigruuun is taking Mettaton's pencil from him though, laying down on his bed to do some sketches of her own on a new page. Bad sketches.]

Speaking of endearing things though, your creator looks like a total nerd. Have you always been so on top of the world or did her building you that box of a body do the trick?

Well... Personality-wise, not much has changed. I've always been like this; it's easier to express myself in the way that I want to now, so things are better. But what you see is what you get, sweetheart, I'm not all that complicated.

Detective Mouri has tried to work out what I am - or, well, what I was before all that. It's fun to watch him try, he's actually gotten pretty close.
