Week 5.

WEEK 5 Three more have joined the deceased this past week. Taichi Yagami was punished for breaking a rule, Megumi Sakura was killed, and Norman Bates... well, the less said about Norman, the better. A third of you are dead now; your losses are becoming more and more evident with each passing week. Saturday is given to regrouping and sleep; there aren't any bodies to be found on Sunday morning. But that doesn't mean the night was uneventful - it seems something else may have brought you some newfound clarity. Or perhaps not... Once again, that spiral staircase leads farther than you remember, clear up to a previously inaccessible fifth floor. [Sigrun'll take out some bandages from one of her bags, not to mummify his face or anything, and rips a strip to press against the wound to help stop the bleeding.]

You have a good speed and you're quick on your feet even outside of that! You really caught me by surprise with that change of direction of yours. [Always praise before you crit.] But you've obviously never faced anything with half a brain before. If you fall for something like that again, it's not going to be your face that's cut next time.

Ngh... I'm used to having a team.

Me too. But it's still good to be able to do things on your own as well, kiddo.

What were they like?

Oh man, in general or in a fight?

In a fight! You can tell a lot about someone by how they fight, the kind of strats they choose and all that.

Well, we always fight as a group- we promised no one would ever go in alone. Usually we do two groups- one of four and everyone else exploring or protecting Rise. She can't fight but she has powers that let her sense enemies for us and act like a communicator.

So she's your Scout. It's a sound strategy to go in as a group, I guess, but it makes you a pretty easy target at the same time. We always split up into pairs when we're out on the field. The buddy system, you know?

[They make up for each other's failings that way.]

Except during training. I keep a closer eye on my rookies just in case they can't handle themselves.

Me and Yu went in a pair when it was just us. He's our Leader. He uses a sword and can switch out his powers whenever he wants- the rest of us have just one set of stuff we can really do, but he can fill in any holes in what we need at anytime.

[Look how proud he sounds. Best friend is so amazing]

Powers, huh. What kind of powers?

[Honestly, any and all kind of talks like this usually go over her head anyway since it's magic to her and that is just not her jurisdiction.]

Uh... It's kinda complicated, but basically we can all use elemental magic and stuff like that. Like, I use wind.

[MAAAAAAGIC.

Everyone she knows uses magic. Why can't they just not.]

I... can't say I'm surprised, considering how fast you are. [Even if the idea of elemental magic is a little baffling. Mages have Offensive and Defensive typing.] So you're all like forces of nature. That's cool. I guess.

[You'd need to explain How Cool it is to her before she really got it though...]

I guess so? Though everyone has different styles. Like, Kanji barely uses magic at all and just pummels people. While Yukiko uses pretty much only magic but she can literally blow a monster up in flames.

Like the Swede I work with. He blew up an entire building full of trolls, but with explosives.

[You know. Something practical and manmade.]

Does she like fire a lot too? I think mine really enjoys his job. Like, really enjoys his job.

She DOES seem to enjoy it a lot. She can be kinda scary outside battle too...

Mine's not scary at all! Just new to the field, so he's basically under my wing until he finds his rhythm. Really good at his job though, he's got nice potential, and I'm pretty sure he's my favorite hunting buddy on the team.

[Who will get replaced by a goddamn robot in the future. Sorry, Emil little Swede.]

'Course, right now, I've got a pretty swell group... I think. I feel like I'm still missing a few things, you know? But I think they're a good group to have for what we're doing.

Missing a few things? Like a few people?

More like memories. Namely, their names. I kinda remember what they are? From what their jobs are. But I have no idea who any of them are.

Except for the braidy guy. His name's Reynir and I'm supposed to keep him safe. He was a stowaway on a ship and we're starving because he took the crate meant for us. I still kind of want him dead, since he's been pretty useless, but on orders I'm supposed to bring him back alive and in one piece.

[Which is no problem, clearly, Sigrun doesn't have an issue once an order like that is given. She can be peeved all she wants but she'll still do it.]

Weird... you're not getting them back in your dreams?

[captainobnoxious]

Every time I'm supposed to hear their names it's like... I just don't know them. Even though mouths move and stuff. Until I learned braidy's name, it was the same way, but now I remember it even thinking back to the dreams before.

That's nuts. Like, I'm still missing some time, but what I DO remember pretty much flows one to the next.

[Peace is fucking Terrible and all of SSSS happens within the week so far, how could she not just fucking randomize it and hope Sigrun never remembers her team's names.]

I guess some of us are luckier than others. Though this is pretty much the first time I've ever had dreams I could remember, I don't usually.

I dream a lot but... nothing like this. These are WAY too clear and make... usually make sense.
